That is very kind of you after I just spent over an hour making this thread. :(
Some people will come late in the game and will need these, even if you don't think it is hard to do.
Edit: Made a few minor edits and I think everything is complete. Let me know of any spelling or grammar errors, as well as steps or mods I may have missed. Thanks.
So was the beginning a bit over the top? I wanted to start out with something different from the threads we normally see. Plus I thought it went well with the semi-comedic theme. Please share your thoughts. :)
Also, try reading it with the Skyrim main theme (what is played when you start up Skyrim) in mind. I find that it makes it seem a lot cooler. Hm, maybe I'll make a video. :)
Oh crap, I forgot about the farm house part. Damn it, lol... I guess I have to reinstall again. Also great guide! I found it odd that we only had one for Oblivion.
The url is broken to the Morrowind meshs. You need to edit the post and remove the space after the url. =p
Is there a easy way to find out which texture files are required so that we on't have to loat our Skyrim istall with 2G of unneeded textures? Also maybe someone could package the required textures and upload?
It will reduce the texture file size while keeping the same quality. I lost about 1 gig, which is pretty substantial. Other than that, I imagine it would be pretty hard to pick what textures we are using and what ones we are not.
Hey I just updated the first post with a few minor things. Is anyone going to be sad that I removed the epic intro? I felt like it took up a bit too much room, and was maybe a bit over the top. I could always post my video version with eloth's screenshots somewhere up top if you guys think it is a good idea.
Hmm, at step 3 you need to delete the sky and water folders right? I extracted the Oblivion-Textures-Compressed.bsa and the DLCShiveringIsles-Textures.bsa with BSAUnpack.exe but those folders wheren't there in the map of extracted folders. Am I missing something?
EDIT: They showed up after step 4 so I deleted them. Hope I did it right.
K, I know this project is well fresh and well... I took a look at the instalation guide and it seemed like it will take up a lot of space.... (Like ~10GB maybe?): Morroblivion was the same but I find the extracting part complicated (It says my "original Morroblivion" textures and etc as well as the vanilla Oblivion and Morrowind (Not exactly sure it means Morrowind)... I'm really confused what exactly I'm doing here atm... I am after the part I'm to take the data from Oblivion and remove the sky and water, but next part... (Confuzzled).
Not sure what you mean about Morrowind. Nowhere in my guide does it say you need Morrowind textures. :~
Just copy all of the textures from your installation of Morroblivion into your Skyrim data folder. Then get the extracting tool I posted, and extract the textures from Oblivion and Shivering Isles into your Skyrim data folder as well. Once that is done, go in your Skyrim directory and open up the textures folder. There should be two folders named sky and water which you then need to delete (if you have any mods that alter the textures in the sky or water folder, then it is best to extract to a different folder, delete the sky and water folders, and then copy into your Skyrim directory). Hope this makes more sense. :)
Oh and I'd guess more like ~7-8 gigabytes, not 10. :)
Sorry Ironman, I'll try to be more on top of that. I guess it is not really needed, so if I forget to update it again I'll probably just remove it.
Ice: Well, the .bsa files for the HD DLC work perfectly so I know the utility works. Though I can't actually say anything about the alpha quality seeing as how the alphas are not working at the moment for Skywind. When Eloth releases his updated meshes I'll look into it.
Bim: I will do that later, but I don't see any point when we are adding stuff all of the time. I'll probably work on that once Eloth's meshes are released, and Alexander and the team have completed the armors, clothing, and weapons.
hi, very nice guide you did :) just a problem though, although i did everything in instructions, the mod isnt appearing (in nexus and skyrim) im just wondering if i should start from scratch or what? thanks :)
Yeah thats the thing, the esm file isn't appearing in skyrim or nexus :/ and im pretty sure i installed everything correcly, i put everything where it should be.
Sounds like you didn't select the correct directory for the masterfile installer. Use it again, and make sure you put the correct directory. Then check your Skyrim/data folder to make sure that Morrowind_sk.esm is there.
The installer has a browse button to browse to your Skyrim Data folder,then you can just click "Next" and it will put the esm into that folder.All installers do it that way,or most of them do imo.
brunz,
The esm goes into your Skyrim\Data folder.
I do not understand why you have mentioned "skyrim or nexus",nexus is the skyrim mod site.
Leobloom: I don't know. In my original Morroblivion installation I never had bottle textures. Doing a complete reinstall with Thermador's complete installation fixed that problem though, so you could try that. About the ground textures, are a lot of them missing, or just patches here and there? Because if just patches are missing then it is a problem with the master (the converter can't convert ground textures perfectly), and everyone has it.
Ok, I'll download the latest big file and see if that helps the bottles. I am getting pretty much no ground textures at all though so that makes me think I've gone wrong somewhere :( Thanks for you help.
EDIT: fixed it by using all of the textures from the morroblivion folder, not just the ones in the "morro" folder of my oblivion install. duh.
I am pleased that you are getting that error message,as it means that the installer is doing it`s job properly.
If it can`t find the reg key then it will not continue.
The only way around this is to install morrowind again,as that should put an entry into the registery.
If your registery has some how got corrupted and morrowind.exe is found,it will also mean that morrowind needs re-installing.
The new installer [that will be uploaded later tonight],will also check for the Tribunal & Bloodmoon esms,so it will be impossible to use the installer unless all of those conditions are met.
What was that about farmhouse textures or meshes we had to remove? I remember that the post said to remove the farmhouse texture or mesh folder but I can't seem to find it back in the post.
I was just thinking about uploading a .rar file with all the date except for the textures extracted from Oblivion and the .esm file but I didn't do it because uploading it would literally take forever with my slow internet. Maybe when we finally get that optic fibre and we can upgrade our internet I could do it.
Okay, so, I installed the mod, but, I don't have music in Morrowind, the beautification mod doesn't seem to work, since the trees are also weird and stuff, and the map is completely white for me. Any ideas about what's causing that? I've also seen missing textures for ground by the way.
Also, about the map, I forgot to add an all important step there, and I'll add it when I get home and can access my ini. Though it may be later tonight since a brand new Intel i5 + motherboard and accessories just arrived today that I need to install.
Don't know about the beautification mod though, perhaps your download got corrupted? Did you make sure to enable the .esp as well.
About the archive idea, this is quoted from me in post 19:
I will do that later, but I don't see any point when we are adding stuff
all of the time. I'll probably work on that once Eloth's meshes are
released, and Alexander and the team have completed the armors,
clothing, and weapons.
Firstly, Hullo everyone this is a fantastic project. I've been lurking for sometime and greatly enjoyed morrowblivion. However I've become somewhat stumped trying to get into skywind. I have the latest master, I have the converted meshes, oblivion textures, morrowblivion textures. I think I have followed all the step and...
cow AND_WrldMorrowind X Y ( using any and all coordinated, from -60 -> 60) results in an Instant CTD.
However I AM able to load Cyrodill when I activate the Oblivion_sk.esm.
Would anyone have any Ideas what could be causing this, or have any suggestions on how to fix it ?

Yeah, I found it eventually, I didn't copy over them. But I don't think the beautification mod got corrupted, and the esp is enabled, but I shal try it again later when I get back home. And yeah, that's one of the reasons why I didn't even try to upload it, although with those meshes and textures we would indeed have a strong basic package for people to start with.
Anyway, I decided it would be easyest for me to create one big data folder and make it a rar file so I can activate and deactivate it with NMM but it turns out it takes like an hour to actually activate it. It's very easy to manage with my other mods though, so I don't have to go down the list all the time activating and deactivating mods.
Skywind beautification never worked for me. Sometimes I can get the music to actually work, sometimes not. The grass and such never showed up for me, but the trees are fixed.
New to this site! I spent a good four years of my life playing morrowind, so I had to join this site. I cannot get this to work though. When I put in th command "cow and_wrldmorrowind -5 -5" (or anything) it takes me to a loading screen for a split second and closes altogther. That's regardless of if I'm on the main menu of skyrim or after loading one of my saves
Hello World! For all you wondering why I haven't been on for like 3 days, and haven't updated the install instructions, I have a good reason. :)
Well, I got my new computer parts in the mail, and then spent an hour or two installing them. They all worked flawlessly, but unfortunately they didn't seem to like my main hard drive/windows installation. So I spent probably more than 5 man-hours troubleshooting, and after it finally booted... it then promtly crashed about 3 minutes later. It would continue doing this every boot up. So I probably spent another 5 man-hours troubleshooting, and finally narrowed the cause down to about 10 services, which at the moment are just disabled, and so far have not caused any ill effects. (plus I don't really have the will to narrow it down further at the moment). However, I must say that it has all been worth it. Just started up Skyrim, and found that my GTX 260 was being held back by my CPU and pci-e slot (only ran at 2.0 @ x4). It is really a beast of a graphics card, and plays the game on ultra quality with shadows tweaked above ultra @ 1366 x 768 resolution. Zero lag whatsoever in Whiterun.
Well, there is my story. Now I'll update the first post really fast, I promise. :)
Just something I have found during my new Skyrim playthrough. The Elven textures from Oblivion overwrite the Skyrim ones. To fix this you need to delete Skyrim/Data/Textures/Armor/Elven.
Can someone verify this path though? I emptied my recycle bin without remembering to write down the file path.
Also, it appears that some plants are getting overwritten, though it might just be one of my mods (even though I don't think it is). I need to check some things to make sure, and find the culprit mesh/texture.
So hard...

Shadow dont be offended on me) Thanks for normal instruction, of course :)
It is hard because it is hard) Noone instruction can correct this) A lot of files, a lot of actions)
Iniquity: No offense taken.

Great work Shadow,and thanks for putting in the link to the latest master.
I will get sorrow1`s doors merged,it might just take a bit longer.

I would highly recommend this utility to start with.
http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=12801
It will reduce the texture file size while keeping the same quality. I lost about 1 gig, which is pretty substantial. Other than that, I imagine it would be pretty hard to pick what textures we are using and what ones we are not.
hmm well this is going to have to be done at some point...

They should have showed up in step three. Well, tell me if you have any issues once you get everything ingame.

When I used optimizer textures, I lost all alpha quality. Perhaps I'll tweak and try again....
maybe make full install like morroblivion ?
Shadow,
The master is now at V0.03,this will change as the master gets updated.
It is no big deal,but is the version number needed in your first post.?
Sorry Ironman, I'll try to be more on top of that. I guess it is not really needed, so if I forget to update it again I'll probably just remove it.

I followed this guide to the letter and yet I still have bottle and ground textures missing. Does anyone know where I might've gone wrong?
alright, yeah shadow you were right that i didnt put the masterfile correctly, but when i now put it in my skyrim, data folder i get this error..

Yes! I figured out how to keep those links from taking up so much room.
What was that about farmhouse textures or meshes we had to remove? I remember that the post said to remove the farmhouse texture or mesh folder but I can't seem to find it back in the post.
Can anbd create 1 archive for meshes and 1 archive for textures? Because it so long for install.
p.s. i cant do it because my upload speed is so slow.

Regarding the map, I had to revert to the default settings in skyrim.ini under [MapMenu] to get it to work. It didn't like my custom settings.
[MapMenu]
sMapCloudNIF=0
fMapWorldMaxPitch=400.0000
fMapWorldYawRange=400.0000
uLockedObjectMapLOD=8
uLockedTerrainLOD=8
[above are the settings that work]

When my system went down I lost my map and now have just the normal skyrim map.
Can someone put a link here to the map,as I can`t find it.

EDIT: Ignore the above,I found it.
I got a problem.Everywhere in Morrowind everything is purple.Buildings,land etc.How can i fix this?
Complete steps 3 and 4???
