"New Game" Start Problems

I'm experiencing an issue that I haven't seen anywhere else on the site (I tried the search function as well as just scrolling through "Morroblivion Problems" in hopes of seeing something familiar). I'm pretty new to modding, so I'm guessing that I have something installed incorrectly. I've already uninstalled and reinstalled everything once, though, so I'm out of ideas.

Oblivion starts up fine, but when I get to the main menu screen and click either "new game" or "load game" the text vanishes, leaving only the scrolling map menu background. I have Better Cities installed, the Better Cities in-game menu appears as normal, but when I close it I'm left with just the map screen. The game doesn't start. It looks like this:

I get the "mundus has shifted" message as well as a couple others I'm pretty sure aren't related to the problem (like the one shown above). The game doesn't crash, just stays on this screen until I exit the game. Here's my load order:

Any ideas? Thanks.

Edit: I should note that my first installation attempt was several months ago. I didn't have Better Cities installed then but I was experiencing the same problem.

Okay, that is pretty weird.

Okay, that is pretty weird. What happens if you activate only Oblivion.esm? Also, what version of Oblivion do you have?

Also, "Mundus have shifted" message shouldn't appear with the most recent version of Morroblivion master.

EDIT: Yes, from the CRC in your screenshot you're using v062 master and not v063a, so please update. However, this still should've not caused the issue you're describing.

So I'm messing up in new and

So I'm messing up in new and interesting ways! Fun. :)

Oblivion runs normally with Morroblivion deactivated. I have the Steam version, fully updated.

And I'm updating my version as we speak, thanks for pointing that out.

Edit: Good news! I updated my version of Morroblivion, rebuilt my Bash Patch, and suddenly I'm in business! ... Very confused, though. I got through character creation and a few minutes of gameplay without any trouble, so I'll count it as a win. :) Hopefully if I run into any more problems I'll be able to solve them on my own. Thanks again!
