This is a known bug in the

This is a known bug in the "Morrowind_ob - MorroblivionTreeReplacer.esp".  You have a few options to fix or workaround this issue:

1. Use the console command 'TCL' to pass through the barrier.

2. Disable "Morrowind_ob - MorroblivionTreeReplacer.esp" in your load order, at least until you cross the barrier.

3. Install the Morroblivion Unofficial Patch 2017-Dec-18 and make sure it is located after "Morrowind_ob - MorroblivionTreeReplacer.esp" in your load order.  I recommend this option, since it will fix many other bugs as well.  I also recommend installing all the hotfixes released since 2017-Dec-18.

"TCL" is not the best option.

"TCL" is not the best option. Better to click on the shield and use "Disable". Also a good option would be to remove the mod, preferably with the game. This solves the problem 100%.

With love, TESRenewal.

Thanks for the suggestions, but I must respectfully disagree.  I don't think those options are helpful to the original poster:

1) Using "Disable" on the shield will remove the entire section of the ghostfence embedded with the ghostgate building.  Creatures will have free access to chase the player through the missing section and attack you and any NPCs on the outside.  And since the disabled reference is saved into the savegame file, it will be difficult or impossible for the average user to reverse this procedure.  Using this command will effectively ruin the player's savegame.

2) Although I can agree that "Remove the mod, preferably with the game" would be one solution for a developer, what you are saying is unclear and unhelpful for the average user.  If you mean just disable the "Morrowind_ob - MorroblivionTreeReplacer.esp" file, then I already mentioned it in Option #2 of my response in a way that is more clear for a user to follow.  If you mean remove this file from the Morroblivion installation package, that does not help the current player, unless he re-installs and starts a new game.

Also, please kindly stop signing your posts with "TESRenewal".  By doing that, you are misrepresenting your opinion as that of this website, the Morroblivion project or one of its moderators (qwertyasdfgh).  I am concerned that doing this may get you banned from this forum.

It was a sarcasm, teasing solution to the problem with "tcl". I did not think it would be not obvious.

I encountered the impassable

I encountered the impassable barrier as well.  I just used levitation to fly over the barrier.  The Shrine of Daring at Vivec gives you 24 minutes of levitation.  After I discovered some locations inside Ghostgate, I just fast-traveled there from then on.

Do you have all of the fixes?

Do you have all of the fixes?  Because I just went through the Ghostgate last week without any difficulty.  Once v065 is out, this issue should be gone.

I only have 0.64 right now.

I only have 0.64 right now.  I installed 0.64 only from this page and nothing else.  The game is largely playable, and I haven't had a bug I couldn't work around.

You should install the fixes

You should install the fixes until 065 is out.  https://morroblivion.com/forums/morroblivion-mod-releases/20...

Per your suggestion, I installed those fixes.  Usually I wait till there is a game-breaking bug before installing fixes.  But as I progressed deeper into the game (now at Urshilaku Camp in the main quest), I'd like to preemptively prevent some future bugs.

And as soon as I installed the fixes, I had problems.  Now I can't manually save or quick save in Balmora.  If I do, the game instantly crash.  If reload that attempted save, the game says "corrupted save game."  (And I've never had a corrupted saved game in my hundreds of hours of Oblivion the last 10 years.)  But I can save anywhere else.  I've been to Urshilaku Camp and saved many times with no problems.  But not in Balmora, and who knows where else, and god I hope nowhere else.   My friends, this is why I never install fixes unless I have to.  It's not your fault for suggesting that to me.  But the fact is these fixes are work-in-progress until 0.65 comes out, and there is always a chance for someone having problems.

EDIT: Now I can't save in other areas too.  Guess I have to roll back the fixes.

EDIT: I reverted back to before the fixes: I disabled "Morroblivion unofficial patch" and "Morroblivion unified hotfix addon" in Vortex.  NOW ALL IS WELL AGAIN.  I can save everywhere with no problems.

Nivek,

Nivek,

I am sorry you had those save problems with the fixes.

It could be the case, that the Unofficial patch and other fixes only work properly on a NEW game, not a pre-existing save that started off with out the fixes.

I wonder if you did an experiment, just start a new game with the Unofficial patch and fixes already installed then quickly COC to those locations you couldn't save before and test if you can save now.

But there could be a lot of locations I would have to COC to, because I found several locations that caused the crash: I picked 3 random locations - Balmora, Vivec, Ald'ruhn -- and they all crashed on me.  It could be that every location on the map would crash.  So even if your workaround worked, it would be impractical for me to COC to what could be tons of locations.

I've added them to saves and it hasn't caused an issue for me.  However, Oblivion is very picky about load order, and if the masters are not in a certain order it can cause instabilities.  The united hotfix addon needs its masters sorted.  https://morroblivion.com/comment/88471#comment-88471

Hey Nivek,

Hey Nivek,

I agree, it would be impractical and very time consuming to COC to every location. I believe that if you COC to just those 3 random locations only and test whether you can save the game properly (With a NEW game + fixes) then that would be enough to determine that the problem is because the fixes should only be applied to a new game.

Also what is your load order like, where abouts did you put the Unofficial patch and fixes .esps...... after the main morroblivion .esps.... did you rebuilt your Bashed Patch.

My load order in Vortex is shown here.  The Morroblivion unofficial patch and the unified hotfix is at load order# 20 and 21 respectively.  They are loaded after all the Oblivion and Morrowind files are loaded.  And the hotfix is loaded after the unofficial patch, as your other post stated.  That should be correct, shouldn't it?  This is the load order that gives me instant crash when I save game.

I don't use Wrye Bash and never did.  I always use Vortex (formerly Nexusmods Manager) for all my modded games.

Your load order does not

Your load order does not reflect the correct order for masters in some of your plugin files.  For example, Morroblivion_Unofficial_Patch requires Morrowind_ob - Chargen and Transport.esp to be loaded before Morrowind_ob - UCWUS.esp.  Wyre Bash alerts you to such problems by turning the plugin orange (instead of green) if the masters are out of order.  I have attached my load order (vs yours).

I went into Wrye Bash and saw that Unified Hotfix Addon actually requires UCWUS before Chargen and Transport (see screenshot), so it remains orange.

I opened Vortex and put Chargen before USWUS, but the same kind of crash occurred.

As I stated above, the united hotfix addon needs its masters sorted.  https://morroblivion.com/comment/88471#comment-88471 .  Ponyrider0 probably has more experience troubleshooting the kind of error you are reporting, so I will defer to him in his recommendation.  But those masters should indeed be sorted.
