Not Solved:CTD with Unofficial Patch and Unified Hotfix activated

Hello!

To start with the Problem.I have random CTD's and with NPC's especially when I close the dialogue with Kammu and with other Ashlanders. Sometimes in caves too where i battle some bandits. If the bandit swings his weapon and tries to hit me i get a CTD

But if I deactivate the unofficial patch and the unified hotfix it won't crash in battles and if i speak to Kammu and close the dialogue again, no crashes with Kammu too..
Sometimes the game crashes with the unofficial patch and the unified hotfix deactivated, if that happens then I activate the 2 esp again to overcome it until the next crash. The patch and the hotfix help me a little in certain situations.

If i continue to play like this my save files will get corrupted sooner or later, so i stopped playing until everything is solved. After this problems are solved i'm sure i need to start a new Game

What else you should know
I play the german version of Morroblivion
All bugfixes have been merged into the German unified hotfix. Since all the hotfixes are included, I do not need the English ones
I have the German unofficial Oblivion Patches installed

The first thing coming to mind related to the crash when being Hit: one of the conversation / translation mods may have modified the mp3/voice that plays when a character is hit, and the winning over-ride for your setup is pointing to a non-existent mp3 file.  Crashing after closing dialog is probably a similar issue:  the voiced "greeting" is actually played at the end of dialog.  The crash is probably happening because the winning over-ride for the needed "greeting" is non-existent.

Missing voiced greetings and being hit voices may be caused due to some kind of incompatibility between the German hotfixes and the Morrowind_ob - Conversation.esp files.  Is there a German version of the Conversation ESP?

Yes there is a german version of the Morrowind_ob - Conversation.esp. i had to replace all the english esp with the german esp.
And i had to create myself the mp3 files for the .lip voice/soundfiles with a tool which can be found in the Morroblivion_German_Plugins_Complete

Edit: the german version has his own masterfile. And what i forgot to mention was i can't lowering Kammus disposition. Is that normal? There is no dialogue with her for that. I can't insult her at all and i don't know if it crashes in ahemmusa if i start to kill someone if Kammu starts to attack me. I didn't tried that yet

I tried to attack the ahemmusa camp and they didn't attack me back not even the essential characters after they stood up. Only one dialog appeared. Kammu said: "Help! I am being attacked" in german Language. By the Way it was funny

Problem
The game freezes after swinging a weapon or more likely shooting off a bow or spell. Requires a reboot or, if luckier, use Task Manager to forcefully close Oblivion and restart the game afterward.
Cause
DirectShow filters (codecs) conflicting with Oblivion.
Solutions
  • Use Nightmare2013's Codec Reset Utility 4.1 [or later], which is available here.
  • Try other codec cleanup options listed under No Music, above.

Yes! I know about this site!

Yes! I know about this site! I was already there before but the last time i didn't try to download the ac3 filter for windows 8/10 users. I downloaded that and installed it and it seems like that it doesn't crash with Kammu anymore.

The codec reset utility is in 16bit that means it is not compatible with my system

I need to play the game now to see if everything is solved or until to the next CTD

Edit: After installing ac3 filter it still crashes with Kammu. I don't know why, I could talk with Kammu before without crashing. But if I now deactivate the unofficial patch and the unified hotfix and then speak to her and leave the dialog then it won't crash. I think i need to try the english esp from the unofficial patch and the unified hotfix. Without the patch and the hotfix it won't crash, but the damage from Trueflame and Hopesfire is insane. 142

ponyrider0, there is another thing that you should know about german soundfiles and every esp.
The names of the esp's are the same but in the vanilla oblivion there is no dubbed content and they added english voice files into the german version where it is subtitled in german but voiced in english
In the German Oblivion the files have been germanized like
Breton is in german Bretone but this File is empty because the Germans packed these files from Breton into the Imperial File. Imperial and Breton have the same voice actor in German and they named the Folders in the german language

The Files names are like this:
argonian is argonier
breton is bretone
Imperial is kaiserlicher
redguard is rothwardone
Orc is Ork
dark elf is dunkelelf (here too, a single voice actor speaks the elves)
high elf is hochelf
wood elf is waldelf
Khajiit and nord is the same like in the english version. And that is why the german version has his own masterfile.
And this includes the german oblivion unofficial patches too. the files are named like that too

if i had to install the english version then i must uninstall both oblivion and morrowind and then reinstall both games in english.

Would it help me, if you give me all the meshes and textures from the unofficial Patch and the unified hotfix so that i can resave the files with the construction set to have my own esp? Or would it be enough if i put the needed files in the data folder without create a esp?

Installing only the asset

Installing only the asset files (mesh, texture, sound) and not the ESPs may help, but the definitive solution would be to search through every single record in all ESPs and verify that all references to external asset files actually exist in either a loose file or in a BSA.  I think there is a TES4Edit script which can do this (at least for meshes?).

OK, then don't install the English sound files.  But that doesn't change my opinion that you should do a 100% data integrity check to make sure there are no corrupted or missing asset files of all types -- including sound and voice, and no subrecord string to actual filename string mismatches.  The best way is to look for a TES4Edit script that already does it or write/modify one to do it.  You may not be able to find anything that solves your crash issues, but I think it is worth checking.  Good luck.

If this this doesn't work, then i will uninstall both german versions (that includes the german unofficial patches) morrowind and oblivion. I install it in english to see at least if the game works in english without any crashes. If it works then i will have my answer

I solved my crash issues!!!!

I solved my crash issues!!!! I finally know what i did wrong!!!! I forgot to paste the Morrowind_ob - Conversation.bsa into the data folder!!!! I had only the german ob - Conversation.esp in the data folder. No wonder that the game was crashing all the time!!! I laughed my a*s of because of my mistake. hahaha

ponyrider0, you were absolutely right that something was wrong with the sound files well.... with the sound bsa file
It wasn't the swing of the bandits weapon what caused the crash, the npc tried to say what didn't exist at all.

It's no wonder why the game kept crashing. Especially when closing the dialog and in battles with npcs. No bsa = no greeting, no greeting=no existent file, no existent file=crash

And now i know why it didn't crash with the unofficial patch and the unified hotfix unchecked because the game used the old existent greeting files in the morrowind_ob.esm. And as soon as I activated the unofficial patch.esp and the unified hotfix.esp, the game tried to access the conversation.bsa but it didn't exist. the unified hotfix and the unofficial patch requires conversation.esp and the conversation.esp requires the conversation.bsa That's why it crashed.

I've found out something weird. As soon as i rearranged the load order like this:

The Load Order has to be listed like this or otherwise I will get random crashes. I messed a lot around with the load order and i came to the conclusion that it has to be listed like this

I could talk to Kammu without any crash but when i fast travel somewhere and fast traveling back to Ahemmusa Camp and if i talk to Kammu again the game will crash. The dialog crash still exists

I thought my crash issues are solved, but unfortunately it is not

I think I know what could be the reason for the crashes:
The German load order has a different load order than the English load order. And I think the translators have adapted the master's load order to daggerfalls unified hotfix master load order. Can that be the cause of my crashes?

EDIT: I deleted the sound files for testing purposes. And the crash with Kammu remains if you fast travel and back to the ahemmusa camp

There may be a problem with the Unified Hotfix, as I have noticed when I installed it, that atleast one merged fix plugin wasn't working, and my game was more unstable. Ponyrider0 is looking into it, verifying the integrity of the other merged hotfixes. Then Ponyrider0 might release an updated unified-hotfix-addon, including the missing hotfixes. So in the mean time while waiting for the updated Unified Hotfix, maybe uninstall the current Unified Hotfix for now and see if your game becomes more stable. I'll try to match up my Load Order with your Load Order. I will delete for now the German unified Hotfix to see if it works

EDIT: It still crashes with Kammu by leaving the dialog after fast tarveling to another location and then talking to her again even with a similar Load Order like yours. The issue can't be the soundfiles cause i deleted them and tried talk to her afterwards again and it crashed. What can it be?

Activate only one: try "NeverSayGoodbye-TryFirst.esp" first.  If it still crashes then try "NeverSayGoodbye-TrySecond.esp".  Both files need to be moved to the absolute bottom of your load order.  That means BELOW bashed patch.

I tried both esp individually loading after bashed patch and it still crashes with Kammu.
What do you suggest i should do next?

Can you verify that when

Can you verify that when NeverSayGoodbye mod is activated, that there is absolutely no Goodbye voice / subtitle / lip movement at all?  In you video, Kammu says "Muthsera?" (voice + subtitle) when yiou end conversation the first time.  If you had deleted ALL voice files like you said you did, then you would only see subtitle and lip movement with NO voice/sound being played. 

The NeverSayGoodbye mod tries to work-around any issues by completely disabling all Goodbye dialog records which might be spoken by Kammu.  If you hear a voice, see any subtitles, or even see any lip movements when ending a conversation with Kammu, then the mod is not working.  You MUST get the NeverSayGoodbye mod working first, start a new mod and try talking to Kammu or any DarkElf Female NPC, they should all have their Goodbye dialog silenced.  Once the NeverSayGoodbye mod is working, then we can test to see if Kammu still crashes -- if it does, then the crash is occuring independently of Goodbye dialog.  If it stops crashing, then the crash is directly related to Goodbye dialog being played.

ALSO: please verify that Kammu will crash on the second Goodbye even when starting a new game.  If you can not reproduce the crash on second goodbye with Kammu with a fresh game, then that means the error is due to your savegame file itself and probably not related to the ESP/BSA/assets.

I added the voice files back into the data folder for the video to show what happens.

I've made sure that the 2 esp are working. Even with the Soundfiles the voices from the dark elves races are muted

This time I deleted the whole sound folder to make sure that this crash not occurs due to the German OBLIVION unofficial patch or any other german unofficial patch.(Every german unoffcial patch contains soundfiles) And I started a new game and used the command "coc AhemmusaSCamp00". Talked to Kammu. First time there was NO CRASH! When i talked to her the second time IT CRASHED AGAIN! There were only lip movements for all races but no voices, only german subtitles

What do you think?

Edit: i started 2 times new Game. the first time was with NeverSayGoodbye-TryFirst. And second time was with NeverSayGoodbye-TrySecond

Sorry, I don't fully understand what you are trying to say.  Did you or did you not see lips moving or see subtitles when NeverSayGoodbye was activated?  Again: 

  • If you hear a voice, see any subtitles, or even see any lip movements when ending a conversation with Kammu, then the mod is NOT working.

OK, thank you for clarifying.  I am looking through the entire unofficial patch + hotfix files, of both original and German versions, to try to find any other script or dialog which might be causing the crash at the end of a conversation.  Please post a list of NPCs that are affected by this crash.  Thanks.

Also: don't forget to Sort Masters using instructions I linked above.

I have a request! Could you look at the German unofficial patch and the German unified hotfix? if possible, could you make a fix from the german esp's? I suspect the cause of the crash is in the German morroblivion unofficial patch esp or in the unified hotfix esp

So you suspect the cause of the crash is in the German morroblivion unofficial patch esp or in the unified hotfix esp..... can you confirm that. Have you tested whether you get the same crash using the English version of Morroblivion Unofficial patch + Unified hotfix..... At least Ponyrider0 can then narrow it down to it being a localized issue with the German version.

I can confirm when i installed the english version everything worked fine. Even with Kammu. But whenever i load up the german unified hotfix and the unofficial patch (even with the english version), it crashes with Kammu.

Except for the translation, the German esp files have not been changed in any way by me and should therefore be identical to the originals.

ponyrider0, you wanted a list! Actually, the dialog crash only happens with kammu and with no one else. Sometimes the game crashes in battles with ashlanders, nord bandits, imperial/breton bandits or creatures like guars and golden saints and dremora!
I hope this will help you a little bit to figure out what the issue is. I can't tell you the names yet but in caves the crashes always happened near torches when the npc was stuck there.

In the dlc tribunal i've never experienced a crash only a bug where azura after almalexias dead after the main quest didn't speak to me at all. I couldn't move at all until i disabled and enabled her. After that she spoke to me like she should

I have corrected the German

I have corrected the German master load order from morroblivion unofficial patch, unified hotfix and magic patch addon and aligned it with the English one. I don't know why but they weren't the same. Now all German morroblivion esp have the same master load order just like the English master load order
