[REL/WIP] Vurt's Tree Replacers for FastLOD

Vurt's Tree Replacers Addon for
FastLOD for Morroblivion v065
2020-09-17

Description:
This is a port of several of Vurt's Tree Replacers mods for Morrowind to Morroblivion with support for distant trees using the FastLOD billboard system.  Previous conversions suffered from no distant objects or very poorly performing distant objects due to the hundreds of thousands of tree instances.  FastLOD now allows us to port these trees with FastLOD distant tree support with almost zero framerate loss.

Big thanks to Vurt for his incredible mods and allowing us to port them to Morroblivion.

Known Issues:
Some graphical glitches are still present on mesh conversions.  Billboard texture for leafless oak has branches not aligned with trunk.  Some billboards are placed too high on z-axis.

Requirements:
Morroblivion v065
FastLOD for Morroblivion v065 (Main)
 

Installation:
Install after FastLOD-Main.  Disable Morroblivion Tree Replacer and Morroblivion Root Remover if they are enabled.  Move Morrowind_Compatibility_Layer.esp to immediately after Morrowind_ob.esp.  Move All other ESPs after that mod.  Enable all ESPs.  Rebuild Bashed Patch.  As with all FastLOD mods/addons, do NOT run TES4LODGen or you will destroy the FastLOD billboard records and have to reinstall this mod.  Recommend starting a new game, otherwise some mushrooms and other harvestable plants will be out of place. 

If you want to use this mod with the Lite Addon for higher framerates, then install the Lite addon first, then install this mod on top of it.
 

Compatibility:
This mod is incompatible with Morroblivion Tree Replacer and Morroblivion Root Remover.  Incompatible with TES4LODGen.  There is some custom terrain, so other mods which over-write distant lands terrain data may undo custom terrain modifications.

Thank you for sharing these FastLOD options!

Did you keep the tree replacer esps separate because they have duplicate refs between them? I am going to see if I can combine the tree replacer ones somehow because I'm already deathly close to my 254 mod limit and adding another 10+ esps for faster FPS is going to be a challenge.

You should be able to merge

You should be able to merge all of them into a single ESP.  Some of the ESPs only contain over-rides which can be merged into a Bashed Patch, but there are about 4 that contain new records.  These should be able to be merged with an automated program like Merge Plugins, etc.

I kept them separate mainly because I attempted and failed at a manual merge (so I don't recommend try to do it by hand).  However, the original mods were all posted as individual files in multiple versions so that users could pick and choose which ones they liked.  Eventually I would like to figure out an easy way to do the same thing in Morroblivion, unfortunately, the current process of creating generating billboard textures and .lod files is not easy or user-friendly.

Sorry! I somehow missed the part above where you said you'd tried to combine them and weren't able to. If you weren't able to, I certainly won't be able to! I'm very limited in what I can handle when it comes to modding.

Anyways, I tried loading up the FastLOD main and the Lite Addon (even though my computer could handle Ultra) and my word! Even without the Vurt's tree replacer addon what an improvement to FPS! Turning was as smooth in Seyda Neen as it is is anywhere in Cyrodiil for me now. Used to be a noticable difference before. So many thanks for coming up with this improvement!

I tried to merge by hand using TES4Edit, record by record -- but stopped because there were just hundreds and hundreds of records which needed to be renumbered.  It wasn't complicated work but much more than can be done in 1-2 hours by hand.  I'm sure Merge Plugins or some other automated system could do it, however, I am just so overloaded with so much work that I have not even been able to install Merge Plugins yet.

When I use the mod my trees

When I use the mod my trees are very shiny. Are the normal maps broken or is there something else missing?

Correct.  Not broken -- just imperfect conversion with modexporter's auto-generated normal maps.  All tree models and textures (except for billboards) are actually exactly the same as the alpha 1/2 versions.  So those are VERY work-in-progress.  Unfortunately, I am retired from active Morroblivion Modding.  I will not likely be able to fix them for at least 2 years or more.  Feel free to fix them if you are able.  Thanks!
