Description

Hello,

I hope this is the place to ask for advice for my problem. If not, do please forgive me. First i want to say that I've searched probably everywhere to find answer, including this forum... without result. My problem is that the game always crashes just seconds after I talk to Jiub. I've set the load order and done all that is described including downloading loads of additional things like some .net (no idea what is it) and others. I haven't tried reinstalling the game - I've got it installed on C: . Someone in the forum said that it is wrong, but i didn't find out why. Now, I am perfectly capable of adding mods and patches and so on, but I'm not very good with computers nevertheless, so please be patient with me and try and describe the possible root of the problem in some sensible way:)

Thank you in advance.

If you made it to Jiib then Load Order is probably not your problem. There is always a chance of other mods conflicting, so you could try disabling Everything except Oblivion.esm and Morrowind_ob.esm.

Installing to C is not a problem; Installing to the default location c:\Program Files\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion is a problem on Windows Vista or Windows 7.

If you let the game install into it's default location, then it is time to reinstall Oblivion to someplace neutral like c:\games\Oblivion. It does not matter where you put Morrowind.

If you know what you are doing, a few people have been able to get away with setting themselves as administrator, but I reommend reinstalling.

First, move your current "Data" folder that is within your current Oblivion folder out of the way BEFORE your reinstall. Do the reinstallation, then move or rename the new Data folder that will be created when you reinstall.

After that, move your ORIGINAL data folder (that you had moved out of the way before) back into your New Install Oblivion Folder.

This way you don't have to reinstall all your mods, just Oblivion. It may seem like a pain, but overall probably less actual time that you have already spent trying to get it to work.
