[COMPLETED - SET] Full Necromancer Set

Hiya all!

Me, Nexos and Dude have just finished the Necromancer Set. We worked together with an intention to keeping it dark, unique yet consistent and appropriate for the great Necromancer Mannimarco. The main theme of this set is bone and in the staff also bone cancer.

Nexos created this stunning helmet:

The Dude made this sweet amulet:

And I've just finished the staff:

Hope you like it, we did try :P

The Staff of Worms...doesn't

The Staff of Worms...doesn't really do it for me. I know that Oblivion had it look like a decaying skull on a rotting piece of wood and bone but every staff in the game looked terrible.

The staff was created by an Altmer necromancer, and it doesn't really reflect the kind of aesthetics I'd expect from the staff of office of an ancient necromancer-lich. It just looks like the staff of some random wizard who cobbled it together in a graveyard, or a piece of driftwood. It's not even consistent with all three of the staff's canonical depictions: In ESO, Oblivion and Daggerfall, the staff has always been crowned with a skull.

Yeah, I'm not massively keen

Yeah, I'm not massively keen on the staff myself, though that necklace is beautiful.

The necromancer's amulet

The necromancer's amulet looks fine, but it also has the pitfall that it doesn't actually look like THE Necromancer's Amulet. It actually looks just like one of Morrowind's common amulets; while the Necromancer's Amulet only received a unique mesh starting from Oblivion, Morrowind depicted it as an exquisite amulet.

This is all wonderful for a generic necromancer set, but it doesn't fit Mannimarco himself.

The helm looks excellent, but where are the eyeholes?

I agree with the lord of

I agree with the lord of bones, While I have come to terms with the helmet, the staff just looks boring. In the other games it always seems to give a sense of fear and dread, using a skull as its crown to show that Mannimarco cares not for the lives of puny mortals. Now it just looks like every other staff. Same goes for the Amulet. Where are all the skulls?? I want to see evil, depraved items of power! Not more chitin...

I do not agree, especially

I do not agree, especially since that staff is made of bone, and not wood. The set looks awesome imo. Skulls for a necromancer? A bit boring I think ;)

See, I think that it looks

See, I think that it looks great for a necromancer, but it doesn't fit Mannimarco. You'd have a point if Mannimarco dressed like a deranged cult leader from Innsmouth, but barring Oblivion (where almost every single staff was a tree branch, even Sheo's), the Staff of Worms has consistently been portrayed as being relatively ornate - in ESO, it was a black shaft crowned by a skull with writhing worms; in Daggerfall a golden skull-tipped rod - so the current concept art just doesn't look anywhere near any depiction of Mannimarco's staff.

Just a thought from a casual

Just a thought from a casual passersby. The largest hole in the staff almost looks like it could be a gaping mouth, and the orange stones could almost be eyes. Maybe you could experiment with make the top of the staff look like the face of a tormented soul or something. This could make it more unique, without reverting to the same old skull-topped staff we see in the other games.

Or even pay homage to the

Or even pay homage to the "Worms" part - make it look like a massive spinal column topped by a snake or maggot's head bearing a black soul gem.

Actually, why did the Staff

Actually, why did the Staff of Worms concept art thread get deleted? Because they were actually getting somewhere there...

Because the concept artist

Because the concept artist left before it was done. Then it was decided to make a coherent set.
