Converting Skyrim NPCS [Obsolete]
Mooncat: I know. I'm almost afraid that anything we start will become part of the converter in the future and our efforts will have been in vain.
Eazzy: That would be awesome if you could do that. I have my doubts, but if the guy who finally implemented levitation into Morroblivion can't do it, who can?
Just out of curiosity, what are the other forms you are attempting to add to the converter?
Excellent tutorial Ice!
I've spent an embarrassing number hours playing and modding Morrowind and Skyrim, so the prospect of a project that involves both is awesome!
I've started coverting some of the Nord Males already, so feel free to put my name up! I think the Dark Elves could perhaps necessitate a different approach than the other races, purely due to the sheer number of them! Perhaps we could divide them by Great Houses, Ashlanders, Temple, Unalligned etc??

Based on the way Morroblivion shaped up, I reckon there's a role for both a converter and manual editing of character appearances. I'm mostly interested in capturing the aesthetics and feel of the Morrowind characters, as originally experienced. Naturally, character positions, stats, AI etc would be much more conveniently done by a converter. Perhaps, characters could be tiered, based on how memorable and important to the storyline they were/are? Clearly, some are vital, others essentially props (bandits, berserkers etc)
Off the top of my head, characters such as Caius Cosades, Crassius Curio, the Dren brothers and all of the key figures of the Temple, Great Houses & Imperial factions would really deserve special attention. Considering that Morrowind was a game marked by its deep atmosphere and unique characters, I think it's fair to say that the aesthetic appearance of key NPCs is very important!
I think the Skyrim Dunmer, in particular, are much more suitable than those of Oblivion and will make excellent Ashlanders!
Imperial Male - 190 - reserved by T1nK
Just remember that the NPCs are in the masterfile, they just need to be separated into working races, and given unique faces.
WoodElf Female - I'm going to do this one
Uvirith: Thanks, but I can't take credit for that great tutorial. That was all Mooncat.
Alright everybody. This summer hasn't evolved how I thought it would. I thought I'd have loads of freetime, but instead I've been busier than in school, so I'm barely able to come around and creep on ya'll's progress. I got on today and updated the assign list and split the dark elves up, though I don't know the count by houses at this point.
Guys, I think we should post our FIRST NPC. With original Morrowind Screen (e.g. on the UESP wiki) and newly created in Skyrim, in order to have got 1 style of the all different NPC races. Because, Morrowind NPCs are very different. For example Wood Elfs in Morrowind look kiddy. In Skyrim they are little bit dready and maybe brave))) etc.
Looks good so far. But maybe make the faces less narrow and have the eyes less at an angle?
I posted this find under another topic but I guess if fits here better. http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/21081
Xenius has given us permission to use it any any of his other mods for the project.
Guys, some information
1) Stats from morrowind to Skyrim (level) should be set with x2 - x2.5 multiplier and autocalculated
2) Speed should be set to 100
P.S> Npc creation is very funny!=) When I was creating first one it was little bit annoying, however, next one and others is really fascinating =)))
I'm going to start working on the Orc males today.
I really want to help at on this project but after reading this entire thread im still a little confused if someone wants to clarify for me a little bit I can help out a lot as I have a crap ton of free time.
EDIT: After some much needed help from RammS im going to do Woodelf Males Thanks Ramms
Great work! Looks good!
Short Tutorial abou NPC's creation
1)Check Unique, Choose race and voice type for your NPC
2)Stats adjusting is pretty simple, see above
3) Choose agression of your NPC which corresponds with morroblivion or original morrowind. Set confidence at least "Average" for fighters, for traders maybe Cowardly?...
4)Make your skin tone similiar to Morrowind one. And adjust your NPC appereance
![]()
5) Here's a template for the Dunmer and original morrowind NPC screen
ps Also I think we should adjust HEIGHT and WEIGHT of the NPCs and make some standarts for the races
Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE /* Style Definitions */ table.MsoNormalTable {mso-style-name:"Table Normal"; mso-tstyle-rowband-size:0; mso-tstyle-colband-size:0; mso-style-noshow:yes; mso-style-priority:99; mso-style-parent:""; mso-padding-alt:0in 5.4pt 0in 5.4pt; mso-para-margin-top:0in; mso-para-margin-right:0in; mso-para-margin-bottom:10.0pt; mso-para-margin-left:0in; line-height:115%; mso-pagination:widow-orphan; font-size:11.0pt; font-family:"Calibri","sans-serif"; mso-ascii-font-family:Calibri; mso-ascii-theme-font:minor-latin; mso-hansi-font-family:Calibri; mso-hansi-theme-font:minor-latin; mso-bidi-font-family:"Times New Roman"; mso-bidi-theme-font:minor-bidi;}
So when I was reading this thread I noticed that someone said that wood elves were always way shorter than any other race should we try and achieve this goal?
Great news my Girlfriend loves Morrowind and has agreed to do Female Bretons pics of her work are to follow!
If there's still some regular NPCs to do by December, I'm sure I'll have time during Winter break to work on some.
Nebbie I hope we will finish all npcs in 2 monthes
Wow , sorrow1 you did a great job !
Hmm, ill take Redguard Male )
Here's my first Orc. Bogakh gro-Mar. Does anyone know if there is any way to add 2 facial hair options? I can't put on both the mutton chops and the soul patch.
What do you all think; since male orcs only had 4 hairstyles in Morrowind, we would have a lot of orcs with funny mutton chops. Should I forgoe the mutton chops in favour of their other facial hair? I don't think the Morrowind hair models were meant to be taken as chops, but there is no good Skyrim equivalent so I just threw them in.
There are several hair mods for Skyrim that add a lot of styles, but it would probably be better to just make a tiny custom mod to add this one combination of existing facial hair models for dependency and ownership/permission reasons. It can't be too much work to take the soul patch model and mutton chop models and copypaste one into the other (that said, I've never tried much of 3d modeling so I'm not sure).
It might actually be a good idea to make two of many NPCs: one with Morrowind style hair and one with new hair, with the non-Morrowind style being a mod. That would add an option for diversity, and it's not terribly much more work. Only 4 hair styles is really a big limitation on immersion.
This is me throwing in something that may help... Found this mod that may definitely help to restore the Morrowind 'look', its Morrowind warpaint.
There are also heaps of Morrowind inspired mods out there that I've found, could post them here.
That would be great, I've already gotten Xenius' permission to use the Morrowind Warpaint.
I'm having no luck adding Warpaint to NPC's... Does anyone know how to add warpaint?
4 screen in my short tutorial, left blank "textures", there you can adjust warpaints (10) and some additional features of face colors
When I select the warpaint it doesn't show up.
You must change color, like color of skin which is highlighted withh red on my screen 4
Still no luck. I've done a quick web search, and aparently the problem is widespread.
Ill take Khadjit Famale and Khadjit male too!
So how are you guys doing this? The NPC's in the Skywind masterfile are not separated into races, or given skeletons/textures/animations (Yes, they ARE already in the masterfile). Are you just creating the NPCs from scratch using only the Skyrim.esm? If so then, you would have to delete the references already in the master, and then place the new ones manually would you not? What I'm getting at, is that this is way to much work. Someone needs to go in and separate the different races manually, and then create appearances, and properties later. I think everyone is getting a little ahead of themselves. Please tell me if I am wrong in my thinking.
Gosh I hope not im already half done with the wood elves!
Shadow, it's absolutely easy)
In my short screenshot tutorial for modifying you can see some steps. However, before this screens we should do several steps, that will give an answer to your questions)
How you already mentioned, in CK we haven't got proper races, only CRETURE. To solve this problem we need to have got a Morrowind's Construction SEt with Morrowind, Bloodmoon and Tribunal installed. We're running Construction Set, loading masters, after this we should go to NPC and filter them by race, after this we can see our NPC-RACE ID's to find them in Skyrim's CK. Because in Construction set Fargoth = 0Fargoth in Construction Kit. The same we done with all another NPCs in our choosen race to development. After this easy steps, we are going to the NPC in CK, which ID we found, and DON'T CREATE NEW ONE!, we just MODIFYING existing converted ID's! So wee don't need to makke many work. All steps after this shown in my Screenshot tutorial. =) I hope I answered your question
Ill do High elves Female
People sorry ill can take Khadjit Famale only. Khadjit male free!
Thanks Ramms, I think that makes a bit more sense now. I trust that you know what you are doing, and that you will make everything work.
I finished the High elves females!
So I went ahead and made a second set of Races.
*Still needs Morrowindised Racial powers, will update this week sometime.
This way we can change aspects of the races in Morrowind without effecting the races in Skyrim. I changed some of the skills to be more in line with Morrowind. You will notice this esp will have all races, and then all races with the prefix Morrowind. i.e. OrcRace, MorrowindOrcRace.
Here's the downfall. When you change a character from OrcRace to MorrowindOrcRace, the face reverts to default.
So what do you folks think? Should we stick with Skyrim races, or use unique morrowind races?
(edit) http://www.mediafire.com/?xig5obw1d58zeqb Here it is. Let me know if it looks alright
ughhhh i finished all the female high elves, and i tested it out in game. and they dont have the currect faces! like this high elve had a freaking dark elf face. i set the skin color correctly on each thingy yet it doesnt work?
Just a warning: after u finish with all your people, make sure to check em out in game.
