I do not understand that edit,we are all from different countrys here and lanquage [in text] is sometimes difficult to read.

Iniquity,I am having a

I am having a problem trying to merge your classes.esp into morrowind_sk.esm.

The VC tool is not easy to use,but I am doing exactly what it states in the instructions.

I load the master esm and make your esp the active file,ok so far,it loads.

Then using the VC button I then checkout all the forms in your esp [using the checkout button],then I highlight them again and use the checkin button as instructed,all ok so far.

But when I choose morrowind_sk.esm as needed and try to save,it gives me an error saying that your esp is dependent on an unwanted master [ESM].

So it will not merge it.

Not a good start with this VC tool.

 I think that part of the problem is that originally morrowind_sk.esm was morrowind_ob.esm and was dependent on oblivion.esm,that does not matter normally,but I think that the VC tool checks hidden dependences.

When I stated FINAL,I mean`t that it has got to be finished,or as near as possible finished and working in game with the current master before I can merge it.

For example if an esp crashes the game etc,it would not be wise to merge it into the master.

I quess the word final is hard to define.

But I am having a few problems with VC tool at this time.

Ok i think i understand so my next question is do you create a new ESM each time or build of the previous one? like can I submit my doors esp with doors from like 6 towns then later resubmit with more??

Good work Ironman! I almost have VC working, but the CK keeps crashing on me. When I first load up the CK, it says

Any ideas? I'm using it just on my computer (locally, not with a network) and I followed the instructions on the Creation Kit Wiki the Iniquity linked.

Clint,you need to setup a

Clint,you need to setup a local network to use VC.In windows you use the setup local network tools and give your network a name like "HOME" [no quotes].And make sure that you have named your computer.

And you also need to have windows file and printer sharing ticked.

You will also need to know your windows login name.

I will try to explain,but it ain`t easy for a 75 years young man:

First you need to make any folder on a HDD [not the C drive] shared on your previously setup local network.

The best drives to use are external ones,and in tools on the root window for that drive use the "Map Network Drive" option. 

Then just follow all of the other stuff in the instructions.

It is hard to explain,because it is rather technical.

Yes sorrow,that sounds cool,but as [if] I can merge your first esp,it would better if any following esps only contained doors not in the first esp and your esps have a different name each time ,so the data just adds more doors without having to overwrite those already merged.

And yes,if I can get this darn tool working properly the masters will just be updated with new data.

I think I have found the problem with your classes esp Iniquity,it is dependent on morrowind_sk.esm and also skyrim.esm.

The VC is looking for only one master,so your esp needs to be dependent on morrowind_sk.esm only.

At least I hope that is the reason,otherwise this VC tool is not going to work.

Yes Iniquity,and good news,it checked in [meaning that it merged to the master],but with checkin errors that were proberly my own fault,as I highlighted everything,instead of just your new form entries in the esp.

It sounds complicated,because it is,all content in an esp like for example your classes esp,has to sorted from the whole master data and then checked in again.It`s a long job but the good news is that it looks like it now works on my network.

But give me a few days to make sure that it is really doing the job,and if so I can then start updating the master each week.

To use it you have to know what each FORM means in the esp and separate those forms and IDs from the master forms and IDs,then merge the new forms into the master.Phew!,really high tech,but cool.

BTW,your esp had morrowind_sk.esm as master twice,but np.

No,I can`t upload it yet,as like I said it merged with some errors,when I have sorted out those errors and re-merged your  esp and sorrow`s doors,I will upload a new master,but not untill tomorrow or later tonight.

I am in the UK and work and play at night [a vampire ,but do sleep sometimes,LOL.

Sorry,but your door.esp would not merge because it had Skyrim.esm as one of it`s masters.

Could you make another esp that only has morrowind_sk.esm as the master.?

Please use the lastest master download to make the esp.

The VC update tool on my

The VC update tool on my system is working ok now.

The reason was as I suspected,it does not like to merge anything to the main Skyrim master,so it only works [for us anyway] if we are only using plugins that use only our master.

I understand sorrow,and your esp works ok ,and the doors work great.

I will try to use a tool that can be used to lose the Skyrim master dependancy.

If you have not finished the second esp yet,can you just use our master as the dependent master on that one.?

Have tried losing the skyrim master dependancy,but no luck.

 But the door.esp works fine,so merging it to the master is not that important is it.?

I am getting 404 file missing errors on your link,have you deleted it.?I hope not as it is a cool  mod.

Which is why I still don't understand why everyone got the goahead to start work on NPCs.  We really should have built custom ones that did not require Skyrim.esm.  We of course can still do this with the races that have not had work started on them yet, but that still leaves the problem of all the work people have already put into the other races.

Is there a way to add Skyrim.esm as a dependency to Morrowind_sk.esm.  It is not there at the moment, and maybe this will allow those files to be merged?

Whilst not directly related to the master file, it would be really useful if someone could package and upload all of the files needed to run skywind such as meshes, textures etc. This would help fix recurring purple texture issues some people are having and also make it easier for new people to jump in. Any thoughts?

About morrowind_sk.esm not

About morrowind_sk.esm not being dependent on skyrim.esm.I thinks there is a way to make the current master dependent on it using the VC tool,will work on it and report back.

I have been lucky with getting that tool working so far,so i might get lucky again.

The problem at the moment is that if I try to checkout and then checkin data that is linked to the main skyrim esm,it states that I am only allowed to do that when working on DLC,so it looks like the VC is really only mean`t to be used by Beth devs.

Not sure,but does Update.esm get used for DLC,if so I might try that too.

One question,has anyone else got the VC tool working yet,if so,2 heads are better than one I quess.

But one thing is certain,this project is not going to happen overnight,it could take months if not years to get this all working in skyrim,so I quess we are in for a long hawl and lots of work.

The textures and meshes are mostly still being worked on and could be changed rather a lot before this project is finished.

But when work has finished on textures,meshes etc then they could then be built into .bsa files like the main skyrim stuff.?

Ideally we should just end up with a master and a few .bsa files in the final package.

Yes for bsas!  Once Eloth is done with his texture improvements we should package everything together in separate .bsa files.  Then have one or two separate update.bsa files for easy upgrading.  But not until then.

Though I may alter my Obliviskyrim installation instructions for Skywind to make it easier for everyone to install.

Yep,reading the posts above,this is all coming together nicely.now if I can only train that stupid VC tool to do what we need,then its all go.

 About the update,you will not see any changes ingame yet because your classes need NPCs.Thanks Iniquity.

I remerged the classes in your esp and they all have a count of "0" in the "count" line.

But I noticed that they all had DUPLICATED at the end of the names.

The DUPLICATED was added by the CK,because before merging there was already morrowind classes listed in the same list.

The ones I merged were only the ones from your esp as the VC tool showed that they belong to classes.esp.

But why are you adding classes that are already listed in the morrowind_sk.esm.?

It merged ok but will be the same as one I have already uploaded.

I hope you can understand the above text.

Not count. In classes-file, when you open one of them you can see only zeros (health, stamina etc). )

Nothing is wrong,except that you have duplcated classes that were already in the master,but you can edit them in future esps if you wish to change anything you want.

If you give anything a new ID it does not mess with the original,but np I can sort that out later.

Btw I only loaded the master so it merged properly,it`s all part of the job,it will all be great don`t worry.

Sorry if I sound bossy [patranizing] sometimes,I quess it`s because I am getting old.
