Design of the Site
Lol if this doesnt get added, give me the HTML so I can manually edit it everytime I am here.
If you said to me what the engine (site) here)
Inquitity it's just a little hard to understand you. I get you are asking me a question, but I do not understand what you mean by engine (site) here)
I think he wants to know the site engine for this website
I agree with Mrthecheesecaker :))
I don't know much about site engines, but you should be able to check the source code manually if nobody else can help you out with that. Great page concept.
Ask Thermador, he is the web wizard after all.
Though I'm not sure if we could impliment your design. Probably around a year ago I remember him saying that they were trying to not tax the server too much (Morroblivion project logo thread??), and I think this would.
Hopefully I'm wrong though, because this does look realy awesome!!
Whohow, nice, I certainly like it, but I'm afraid that the Morroblivion logo is missing, and that's still a major part of this site.
Winterdragon, i can create changing logo (it will change when you refresh page or it will change every 10-20 sec).
I don't think so ..
I don't think so ..
What do you mean?
The changing logo sounds good, in that case the design is okay with me. Now we need to convince some important people on this site.
Well in any case, it would not be in the main part of the site. It would have to be limited to the Skywind portion. After all Morroblivion still does exist, and there are people who may still want to use it. Plus, apparently many people still want to keep working on Morroblivion, and they probably wouldn't like a complete takeover.
Perhaps create a sister site called skywind.com and link it in the left hand column as well as the home page?
skywind.com costs $ 8000
))
skywind.info is only $2 per year however O.o
Guys, I honestly don't like this. I feel like we're taking a crap on the Morroblivion guys. Basically the way I see it, we're guests on their site, and we should respect that. It's called Morroblivion.com after all. That, and we're not even that far on a playable Skywind release yet.
The only way I could see this working is something like when you go to Morroblivion.com, you can choose to enter either the Morroblivion project page or the Skywind project page. If you choose the Skywind option, then it would show iniquitys design page.
My 2¢ anyways
Edit: Ah or what Shadow said, if we go for the Skywind.info, ask if we could have a link to that from the Morroblivion site.
We don't need a fancy site, when the mod is playable, people will come. nobody is going to give a damn what our site looks like, they care about how the mod looks.
Yeah, the design isn't that important to me that we should start a new site for it, if the old morroblivion veterans don't want it we should respect them.
I never knew there were such issues between the two team to the point that one team is trying to get their own website.
Most of the more oblivion team is working on sky wind. We really do not need another site.
To be honest, the only two reasons I think we need at least a separate area are the bug tracker, and so people don't get confused about which game a thread is talking about in the active thread section. If we could just add those to the existing site I think everything would be perfectly fine. No need to separate.
Brutal: Yeah most, but unfortunately several of our best modders have decided to keep working on Morroblivion, and they would probably appreciate fewer Skywind threads showing up all of the time. So it is a win win.
Hey, guys, it is not morroblivion design or skywind design) It is mostly Morrowind design. You are discussing only about logo, i think it is not hard to change))
At this time we have separate sections on the main page that are in fact easy to follow, and easy to navigate.
And the most important thing is that we are using morroblivion_ob.esm as the base to convert into morrowind_sk.esm.
They both use different masters, but SkyWind started off from a converted morroblivion,so why not just leave it as it is now.?
The whole thing is forum based and it works ok from my seat.
The site name is morroblivion.com,and thousands of casual browers of the web have visited it.
Just my 2 cents worth.
The site is the last thing I'm concerned with, hell we could be on Angelfire, Free Webs, Geocities, Yahoo Groups, or Myspace for all I'm concerned, and I still wouldn't mind. =p
Are you kiddin' me? My work was destroyed again
reloaded. plz, dont delete it.
Um yeah.
I can set up a separate Skywind site if you want. Wouldn't take too long. Basically would be the same as Morroblivion. Different theme and colors I suppose, so you can tell them apart. Someone also owns skywind.com and skywind.net btw. So if you wanted your own domain, gotta be something else.
Alternatively, I can set up a bug tracker for skywind and an even-more-separate set of forums, all located here on Morroblivion.com. Or anything else. Like, I can separate the "Active forum topics" section into two separate ones. Etc.
If you guys want to start designing themes, the base theme for this site is Garland for Drupal 6.26. You can download it here: http://drupal.org/project/drupal (Garland is a core theme included with Drupal). If you design a complete them that is fully drupal compatible, I can upload it to morroblivion.com and people can choose to switch to it in their profile settings.
Food for thought.
We will probably be fine keeping with morroblivion.com, especially since it is fairly well known (and we won't have to pay for a domain). But if you could do that, it would be great Thermador.
Ok Iniquity, I look forward to seeing what you can do. I love that Morrowind design.
