[RELz] Vivec Race WIP (Long Time No See)

I have added an image of the vivec armor. Some texturing left to be done and a few more portions of the armor have left to be finished. But the basic concept can be seen. I just realized that the object skinning looks a little awkward, particularly around the neck, but I swear it looks better in motion.

Well, it has been a long time since I've been an active member of the morroblivion forums. My old computer basically died so I wasn't able to play or do any modding for a little while. But I got a new gaming rig for my birthday and I'm back around to do some additional modding work. I mostly plan to do work with Skyrim but I might step back into some morroblivion modding if need be.

But! My real reason for posting here again is that I have a new project in the works for a Skyrim Vivec Race. As of right now there is a lot of work to be done, but I'm currently seeking mod testers as well as constructive criticisms of what I have so far.

If anyone is interested in helping me out just pm me here or post here.

Glad to be back btw

Glad to have you back

Glad to have you back Helpfulperson!

Well it's nice to hear that

Well it's nice to hear that someone's glad I'm back. I have made some progress on my mod. As of right now all of the male textures and female textures are done. A beta esp has been made which works properly in game, including the added race with powers. I have a nearly completed male version of Vivec's Armor strictly based on the morrowind original. I have further plans to add a few surprises to this mod . Let's just say that some other notable morrowind npcs might just be in the works

Other than the fact he looks

Other than the fact he looks a little angry this is awesome

Helpfulperson, I'd love to

Helpfulperson, I'd love to test for you, but I won't have a good computer for a while unfortunately

Hey Helpfulperson!I'm glad

Hey Helpfulperson!

I'm glad you're back too! Back when I was playing Bloodmoon, I was shocked at how much better your texture pack made things, so I'm glad to see you back around!

Dude, your Vivec looks sweet! he feels so much more youthful/ powerful than the origional in morrowind, I really like it! The only thing I wonder about is the hair: could you make him bald?

I looked up a picture of the origional Vivec:

WOW does yours look soo much better!

I'd love to check out the esp, and especially the vivec armor.

Thank you guys for the

Thank you guys for the opinions . As I make progress I hope to continue uploading screenshots. I have an assembled esp, but it does not include the armor. But there are currently no tools for cleaning up skyrim .esp's so I plan to completely redo the race esp. Anyways, does anyone have an idea for the racial abilities/ skills of the vivec race? Also, if any of you are interested I'm currently trying to build up some lore as to why Vivec is back in Skyrim?

His current racials are:

Ability: Divinity

"Your remnants of Divinity leave you with Increased Magicka and Disease Immunity"

+50 Magicka

%100 resistance to Disease

Powers:

Wrath of Vivec

-50 shock damage

-50 damage health

-50 fire damage

-50 frost damage

With a little work, I hope to also add a scripted power to the Vivec race which allows the player to change sexes. This is because Vivec is often noted as the divine "hermaphrodite", just another aspect of his duality I guess. But the priority on this is rather low right now.

Also, it's a little difficult to tell from the pictures, but I have added earrings to the race that work for both the male and female versions too.

Looks great Helpfulperson!

Looks great Helpfulperson! How about the ears though? Looks like they should be bigger?

Yes, the ear might look a

Yes, the ear might look a little too human. But I believe it is just the angle in the photo. His elvish ears are more evident from the side. As an update, I have nearly completed the male version of the vivec armor. It took longer than I expected to make a version which would work properly with the weight sliders, but I have done it. Finally. By this saturday I hope to have an uploaded esp, with a beta version of the race along with the male version of the armor for whoever would like do test it.

Very cool!As an optional

Very cool!

As an optional idea, how hard would it be to make him 'fly' or levitate an inch off the ground instead of run, since he's floating when you speak with him in morrowind?

As far as the gender change, I think you could make a power that does a sex change on him when cast. I'm not sure though. There is a console 'sexchange' but I don't see a script function version for it...

Keep us posted!

Yes, I thought of that too.

Yes, I thought of that too. But I searched in the construction set and could not find the script for it. So I'll probably have to make a new script for it, but I have very little scripting experience so it will be a learning process, especially since the Creation Kit is so new. And there are some animations available I could use to float, but I was thinking more of a floating idle animation.

I got you... and I like where

I got you... and I like where you're going with this!
I wonder if there's a way for scripting to use console commands. You know? Since 'sexchange' is a console command, it'd be nice to do something like this in a line of script:
Event OnSpellCast(Form akSpell) if akspell == VivecPower console.sexchange(game.getplayer()) endIf

endEvent

That would be sweet...
Let me know what you decide to do! :D

Helpfulperson, when I will

Helpfulperson, when I will mod for Skyrim, is it possible for me to use that Vivec Race npc (when you've finished making it of course)?

Envydeveloper of course you

Envydeveloper of course you can, you have my full permission, as long as credit is given of course. It wouldn't by any chance be a mod to add a vivec follower would it?

And Ice even that is already about my head. When I say I have little scripting experience, I really mean close to none . Like I said, it would be a learning process. I do forsee a problem with using the 'sexchange' command though; in game the command does switch the gender of the target, but the result only changes the body mesh. The head mesh is left as the original gender, which can look very weird.

You know, in Skyrim you

You know, in Skyrim you change your race to a werewolf race when you transform into a werewolf. Instead of player.dosomething its game.getplayer(). I think it's interesting that it says it returns "The Actor that represents the player." That's telling me that you could have a ready made 'female vivec' and then run sort of script that would turn the actor into that female actor just like they do with the werewolf...
I just don't know how you'd customize the face...

Thank you, helpfulperson. I

Thank you, helpfulperson. I will of course give you full credit and yes, Vivec follows and helps the Nerevarine/Dragonborn in a certain quest...

Beta

Beta Release:

http://www.mediafire.com/?qd8jffrx6sa2zi9   (32.87mb)

This file is most certainly not complete. The .esp adds a playable vivec race to the game. Both male and female genders are playable, however the female texture needs some work; the neck seam is rather noticable at this point. You might notice that this file contains scripts. These scripts function to dynamically add the Vivec race to the formlists. This means that all of the necessary headparts (eyes, hair, beards) can be added to the vivec race without actually editing any of the vanilla formlists. This allows for maximum compatibility with other race mods.

The armor is contained in this download. However, I haven't added it to the game yet so it replaces the talos amulet mesh. But this is not permanent, simply a placeholder for now. So for future releases it will be actually added to the game. Right now the armor is male-only but a female version is in the works.

Anyways, please let me know of any bugs or issues you have while playtesting this race. Preferably, it would be awesome if someone could become a vampire through normal game processes and let me know what happens in their game. And if someone could do the same with becoming a werewolf that would be awesome too. Everything should happen as normal but I haven't checked myself so who knows. Finally, the powers and abilities for this race are basically placeholders at this point.

The textures for this race are designed to work with FavoredSoul's male body meshes, and UNP female body. But with the default body the only part that will appear odd is the feet.

Thanks to whomever playtests this . It's something I just couldn't do on my own. Also, all ideas and criticisms are welcome so feel free to express them as you'd like.

Ice

That's along the lines of what I was thinking. At this point I certainly couldn't do it but if you're up for it I would be estatic if you complied said script. No obligation, but you're welcome to try.

Here's a screenshot for some

WAIT!
IS that Vivec using Keening and Sunder on the divine heart to become a god!?
AKA is this the birth of Vivec!?
WhaaaaT?

Haha that's so cool!!

Yes, I just couldn't resist

Yes, I just couldn't resist taking a few screenshots. As an update for the day, I have fully finished the male armor, morphs and all. The female armor still needs some work, but it's close to being done. This is a bit of an odd question, but how revealing should the female armor be? I'm debating whether I want to add a breast-covering portion at all. Now I'm not one for gratutious nudity, but I'm certainly not against nudity. At this point I plan to add a top to the mesh. Anyways, I'll post some screenshots of what I have now, with censors of course.

For more detail, right click and view-image at the full size. Sorry about the female nudity, only temporary.

I would say have two versions

I would say have two versions of the female vivec, a nude version, and perhaps a version with a loose cloth that hangs from the shoulder pieces to cover the nipples?? Something similar to the cloth that hangs over the chest piece on the Ordinators' armor.

Hey HelpfulPerson!I think

Hey HelpfulPerson!

I think I'll be looking into the werewolf scripts for my own purposes, so while I'm poking around I'll see what I can find out regarding your transformation. If it's something I can do within reason, then I'll ship it to you, otherwise I'll just report my findings.

Regarding the female Vivec, I may be unpopular in my opinion, but I say the more covered the better, as far as the top goes. I mean, we don't see any of male Vivec's genitalia, so I say the female should follow suit (plus on personal stance, I won't download if it nears the nude). But that's just my opionion. I think the two versions may be a good comprimise.

Yeah, I'm with Iceberg. I'm

Yeah, I'm with Iceberg. I'm not into nude mods.

But I'll be honest. I wouldn't play much the female version of Vivec. I'd stick to the ripped beast version of Vivec.

Just an update for the day. I

Just an update for the day. I have contacted AlienSlof, as I used portions of some of her armor meshes for the vivec armor. She has given me full permission as far as the male armor goes, but does not want me to use any of her assets for a female version. So, I will have to rework the female version. The portions that will need to be substituted include only the neck collar and choker. So I will most likely replace them with some kind of neck/chest covering scarf such as bigfoot suggested. Other than that, I'll probably include a robed version and if there's time and motivation enough, I will include some kind of armored version. But that's not really in the plans for now. Does anyone have a suggestion as to how the vivec armor should be integrated into the game? I was thinking having perhaps a vivec follower only obtainable through a very difficult quest, as vivec would be quite powerful.

As far as obtaining Vivec as a follower, I do have some quest ideas hanging around in my head. One involved successfully opening a portal to a daedric prison realm which contains Vivec. In order to improve difficulty, the prison realm would only be accessible once the player has obtained a sigil stone from the unbound dremora and completely activated the atronach forge. Using some combination of ingredients the player could open the portal to the prison realm. There the player would find vivec chained up in some firey version of the torture device used on the torture victims in the dark brotherhood sanctuary. The player would then have to battle some sort of champion of Azura/ Dagon (as they would have banded together in a rare turn of events due to their mutual hatred of vivec). Upon killing the champion the player would have to speak with some aspect of Azura, who would offer an alternative reward, such as a cool item or blessing in return for not freeing Vivec. If the player chooses to free Vivec, Vivec would become a follower.

This idea is completely concept right now but that's just what I've had envisioned for a little while. Again, I'm completely open to suggestions

Hopefully more screenshots to come. Oh, and this is totally not final at all, but I have contacted a very good 3d modeler/animator who has agreed to attempt to make an animated hair mesh which would appear as blue flames. This could be used on Vivec. An example of what the hair would look like can be found seen here:

Very cool indeed.  Going to give it a go when I get Skyrim reinstalled.

Well I've been on a little

Well I've been on a little hiatus, so not much has been done. But I have managed to nearly finish the main interior cell for this mod. The concept is that Azura has captured vivec and forced him to spend the last 200 or so years within one of her realms. It may appear pleasant but Vivec will be held captive in a way similar to the darkbrotherhood torture victims. Anyways, this is just a WIP right now. As always, suggestions are very welcome.

Here is a video if anyone wants to check it out.

Dude. Vivec looks like a

Dude. Vivec looks like a total beast.

Good basic story plot too!

Update

It's been a little while since my last update. I have completed the interior cells I plan to use. Questing is just as big of a challenge as I imagined. Dialogue seems easy enough, but I am a novice when it comes to scripting so it's proving to be very challenging for me. But, on a better note, I feel much better about fleshing out the story. It's a one-step-at-a-time process. My biggest struggle right now is getting the npc giving the player this quest to follow the player to a location at a certain point in the quest. '

With all this dialogue written, it makes me very aware that I don't have any voice acting ability. If anyone is interested in doing some voice acting, please feel free to message me. I currently have the following roles:

-Gaden Indoril- Young, Dunmer, Ordinator, Serious

-Vivec

Check-up

Well I haven't had a lot of interested voice-actors, actually any. But just an update.

I have finished the majority of the quest, scripting included. I have finished converting Ghogiel's ordinator armor for my Ordinator Quest-giver, Gaden Indoril. This whole process has been such a learning curve but I feel very accomplished. Here's a screenshot for you guys of the converted ordinator armor (yes, I know, there is no armor on the arms, I think I want it that way.)

If you can provide a example

If you can provide a example audio file of a voice line.
Then I could try to match it and render all lines by computer.
I can even morpfh the rendered lines with some nice effects.

Voice Acting

I am 16 years old, English/Australia accent (more english then australian). I don't sound dunmer but i maybe able to pull of the young ordinator. If you are intrested please send me some lines and i will record myself doing them i am extremley interested in this mod and would be over the moon if you consider me.

Hey Helpfulperson, I would

Hey Helpfulperson, I would also be interested in voicing the Ordinator. I believe I can pull off the MW style dunmer voice, only if that's what you're looking for of course.

If you want, send me some lines, and I'll get something back to you.

Edit: And about the armor. I like it! But I think you need to have the plates on the arms and the legs. These guys are like the spec ops of Tamriel. They're not going to go half prepared anywhere.

Also, got the lines, I'll get the audio to you soon.

S.B. it's very nice of you to

S.B. it's very nice of you to offer, but as of right now I really hope to have actual voice actors for the roles. But, I am considering having a computer generated voice for Vivec, as it would be hard to really sound godly. Cadbury_Flake and Robertneville, I am very excited that others are actually interested! I will pm you guys one of Gaden's lines. I'm kind of looking for a voice role similar to the morrowind dunmer but I'd be more than happy to hear them both so just give it your best shot (it's not like I could do any better, that's for sure). Anyways, thanks for your support guys

Just an update for the day, I

Just an update for the day, I have nearly finished converting the Daedric Lord armor from Oblivion. It's functional, but the skirt appears a little weird at times (I HATE skinning). Anyways, here's a screenshot for you guys.

And here's a screenshot of the armor with one of the helmets.

Bah, Holy Crap man.You make

Bah, Holy Crap man.

You make sweet looking stuff.

This is awesome!

This is awesome!

Thanks for the support guys,

Thanks for the support guys, it's a good motivator . Here's an update for the day: using an already made daedric crescent mesh, (with some retexturing from myself), I have added what I think will be the final new object to the game for this mod. Anyways, here's a screenshot of Lord Dregas Volar with it. Note, he will be the one guarding Vivec in Azura's realm.

I know that I want Dregas to be very difficult, but I'm struggling with making him difficult without making him simply a health tank. Does anyone have some suggestions?

Oh my gosh man, I am getting

Oh my gosh man, I am getting so stoked for this mod! Awesome armor and weapons!

I don't know if you saw my edit before, but I think the Ordinator should have full indoril armor on.

He could summon more

He could summon more dremoras... make him block often and heal himself...

You did a great job on

You did a great job on converting the deadra armor - could you also convert some other good old Morrowind armors like the Bonemold or the Chitin armor?

As much as I would love

As much as I would love having the morrowind armors, I really don't think I'm up for the task. My modeling skills are rather limited; I am still a texturer at heart. But perhaps upon completing this mod maybe. Anyways, just an update for the day, I am currently trying to finish designing the interior of Vivec's prison. I came across a moon and star ring resource on skyrimnexus and I figured I might as well add an easter egg. So I hid the ring someone in Azura's realm. It is fully functional with a script which kills the player when they equip it (after all it is historically stated to do this if anyone but the nerevar equips it). Here's a video of it in action if anyone wants to watch it.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YE12OBMHv9U&feature=youtube_gdata

Someone on the nexus brought

Someone on the nexus brought up a good point, the two colors of vivec do not really blend into each other in the middle, but abruptly go from one to the next. I happen to like the way they are, and haven't seen a depiction of Vivec without such a sudden change, but I'm not against doing an alternative version where the two colors are more blended in the middle so that it doesn't look like I just changed the color of half of a normal skin texture. Anyways, I'm basically trying to ask, does anyone feel that I should do a more detailed blending of the meeting point between the two halves of Vivec?

Man, I can't be a

Man, I can't be a helpfulperson on this one.

I just don't know, I could see the two halves having a bit of a blur in the texture, but the line also makes sense. What's the most common lore show him as? I guess I'd go with that.

You could have sort of a

You could have sort of a "mixed" colour line in the middle, a very light green color that blends well with the yellow and blue?

It seems that it would be a

It seems that it would be a good idea to provide two version of vivec, one with a more blended skin in the middle, obviously not too prominently blended, and another version the way I prefer it. Anyways, I am nearly finished with the quest, I only have to script the final battle between the player and Lord Dregas as well as the dialogue.

Also, if anyone knows of a good portal resource in game, as I don't really want to bother converting or making one of my own, could they please point me in the direction of it? I'm struggling to find a decent one to serve as the actual door to Azura's realm. Anyways, no screenshots for today sadly

Is there an Azura's statue

Is there an Azura's statue anywhere in morrwind [ I can`t remember] if so I think it would be a cool portal to Azura's realm.?

If there ain`t one can we copy the one thats in Oblivion over to morroworld.?

It would mean scripting a portal at the statue base though I quess.

Helpful Person: You could use

Helpful Person: You could use an autoload door in conjunction with a static object to make a portal out of anything. After that I'm at a bit of a loss as Skyrim wasn't too big on magic portals.
