[RELZ] Creeper
Download: Here <broken link>
This mod restores, as an easter egg, the scamp merchant in Caldera: Creeper.
http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Morrowind:Creeper
Its not meant to restore the MW cheat ... disposition and skills will effect the prices that creeper is willing to accept or pay ... and he doesn't have 5000 gold to barter either.
Note: I am not good at dialouge so I'll request someone else to please look into it to make sure I am not breaking anything.

This is awesome, can't wait to test it out. Nice work!
The Mercantile system in Oblivion is the worst one ever created.
It seems like they attempted to balance their economy by making the Merchant experience as annoying as possible so that people wouldn't WANT to sell anything.
Like a merchant not being able to afford 3 Orcish Cuirass at once, but being able to afford them one at a time.
And then clicking on them and selling them one at a time is as cumbersome as they could possibly make it.
5000 gp is a convenience, not a cheat.
People like the scamp specifically because it is less annoying.
Personally he was the one who broke the game economy for me ... but then 5000 gp wasn't the main reason for that ... it was the fact that bartering was disabled for creatures and so creeper always paid the maximum price for everything ... for everyone.
You are free to change he gold if you like to ... I don't know if its possible in oblivion to bypass the bartering equations.
Sorry, I thought the gold was what you were referring to as a cheat.
And, agreed that it could be considered a cheat that selling a Daedric Cuirass will net more return because nobody else could afford to pay as much for one as you would get selling it to him.
But, by the time anyone gets to a Daedric Curiass the economy has long been broken anyway.
Is the scamp the morrowind one, or the oblivion one
EDIt. Nvm pics just loaded
Does this enable a playable Scamp race?
No, this will, technically, be an NPC dressed up in a Scamp suit.
I was going to go ahead and do this since so many people were talking about it, but then realized that Hashmi would probably port the original over from Morrowind... which he is, and that will be better.
This is the Oblivion scamp ...
I did originally plan to convert the MW scamp in Creatures Revisited: Daedra ... but that did not happen, I still have the unfinished files though so maybe someday ...
Hmm, the link dosen't work anymore
Haha, this is awesome! The things you people come up with.
@aBaDmAn91: Yea ... I cleaned up my mediafire account some time ago (it had a lot of old junk from the early attempts at creature conversion) and it might have been included in that ...
I don't have another copy of the mod and I can't make a new one anytime soon ... so sorry
Maybe if someone else downloaded it, they can re-upload it.
Hey, I found the mod
Where did you find it?I must have this mod! Thanks.
I already had it on my pc.
I don't have any account on any download sites. (I don't know how long It could be up on the nexus... and I don't want to get banned from there)
Thanks for the info! So is there anyone on this site who can convert a few script lines from Morrowind to Oblivion? I checked, and Creeper is a "creature" in TESIII, just like TESIV. The difference is the TESIII version has a short script attached. Any takers?
Dialouge was possible with creatures in Morrowind ... it is NOT possible in Oblivion. This mod works by hacking its way round the limitation ... effectively turning an NPC into a creature (replaces the NPC's skeleton, mesh and animations with those of the scamp.)
Im bumping this to ask for anyone who downloaded this to please re-upload it.
I Need this scamp to work. Actually, I need better than this scamp. I have items that cost 40 thousand dollars. One item cost $ 200.000 dollar !!! I need to be able to sell these. If can't sell these in game, I'm inclined to just stick them in a box and cheat to get the money they are worth. I would rather not resort to cheating but if there is no possible way to sell these items, I may be forced to. a game shpouldn't force you to have to cheat.
In the regular game you can use this trick http://morrowindcashfaq.tripod.com/SellExpensive.htm
Is there any way to do this with the Oblivion engine?
According to this the max is 1500 gold a merchant can have with the Oblivion engine, 2000 with mods. http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Commerce
What we need is a special character created that buy these items. It would make this game so much more playable, closer to the real Morrowind. Without this ability, I kinda feel like it's not even worth bothering to buy and sell in this game.
Read what Hahmi said carefully. This mod, because it actually uses an NPC instead of a Creature, does NOT go around the normal mercantile bargaining system like the original did.
I believe he was planning on giving Creeper 5K to barter with.
Technically, a little less than 65,000 is the most gold the Oblivion engine will support, not 1,500, but I have never seen a mod do more than the 5K that DCL Vile Lair does.

I hope I've not got the wrong idea here and missed the subject of this thread (please ignore if so) and it's not a mod, but is not the armourer in mournhold the merchant with the most cash at 10K?
If there is one with more I'd love to find them.
Yes, the point of this thread is Creeper the Scamp, not who has the most gold, or the shortcomings of Oblivion's mercantile system/economy. There are plenty of mods out there that address this.
I did not download Creeper when he was released, as I though he was unfinished and that Hashmi was still working on him... and then got distracted with other things, so I do not have the original, but if somebody does, then I will include it in the next release.
I have not made it to Mournhold or Solstheim yet, as that would involve debugging and finishing three Quest lines, so I don't know what's there, but if somebody has 10K gold, I will change it to something more along the lines of the rest of Oblivion. 10K gold is too much for a merchant in an unmodded Oblivion.
If you want a merchant with more gold than that, then learn how to mod so you can make your own... that's what I did.
Doesn't Anybody have a copy of Creeper that they can upload?
I would like to include this in the next release.
Not perfect. but it works. http://oblivion.nexusmods.com/mods/16373
He stands upright when you talk to him, but its something I guess.
I put a link on the front page so maybe someone will see it. I looked through all my old backups and can't find anything.
Maybe if Hashmi ever returns from wherever he's been for 2 months, then he could re-make it.
But for now, I think we should use http://oblivion.nexusmods.com/mods/16373
It's really similar except that when you talk to him, he stands up as if he were a person.
But here is an IDEA for a creeper. This can also be applied to the mudcrab merchant. So, when you talk to the creeper, you should get a dialog box with whatever the creepers greeting is and an option to buy / sell. But, the character willl never actually be in a conversation with the creeper.
There is all so a TestNPCCreeper in (SoVvm) Modders resource..
Awesome. Anyone mind testing this creeper? I cant right now since I'm onmy iPad
Man...I thought I had the creeper on my old install of Morroblivion. I just looked through all my old Morroblivion files. I don't see anything about scamps in there. Is it called something like "scamp.esp" or did it go by another name?
The filename was Creeper.7z but that's all I've been able to figure out about it.
http://www.sendspace.com/file/uekb43
I found something, "Scamp_merchant.esp" inside archive, this is it?
Downloaded and had a look Creeper is addressed to ChorrolTheoakandCrosierTavern under Cell..Might not be..
Hanhmi1 Creatures Video have been removes of YouTube,Files have been removed of Mediafire
In the original morrowind Creeper buys/sells items with the base value? However I'm trying to recreate (for experimenting further in the cs) the mod if anyone is interested caused by the fact that the mod posted above (the nexus link mod) can't be changed without author permission( that maybe he might not give to us caused that morroblivion was banned by official forums).
if anyone is interested caused by the fact that the mod posted above (the nexus link mod)
The Above link is to Mediafire,,Mediafire runs on a time line and access
if files does not get access for a certain amount of time File is removed
http://www.sendspace.com/file/uekb43
This link is to a Creeper 1 of the ones done for Oblivion
In the original morrowind Creeper buys/sells items with the base value?
Yes, but it's not possible to recreate on Oblivion's engine.
However I'm trying to recreate (for experimenting further in the cs) the mod
Take a look into TheTalkieToaster's Playable and NPC Creatures, especially the included tutorial on how to make an NPC use creature model and animations.
thanks for the answer.
Thanks for the tutorial.
01/01/2013 edit
It's done. I present to you the new and full functional Creeper.(need obse)
Link: http://www.mediafire.com/?be80j8o4bu6xmpd
Features:
Has 5000 barter gold
Buy/sell item at the base value
Can barter only the things he could barter in morrowind (according with the morrowind construction set)
It's a fence(can buy stolen goods)
However in this version sell maybe too many items(here I need help with the levelled lists)
P.S The creeper's chest is accessible.
Bug:
The greeting dialogue are random so don't show like in morrowind.
Even if the haggle option is still aviable is useless with Creeper, it's better do not click it(and if you change the haggle level the prices don't change but there is a possibility that creeper refuse the transaction)
Important note:
If you should notice that after talk with creeper you can't barter/haggle correctly anymore (can be caused by mod interaction) simply save close and restart oblivion(nothing is written to savefile). (In the last version this never happened to me and I tested well the mod). Can be incompatible with economy overhauls(with enhanced economy you have an option to buy/sell item at base value)
This is my first mod with meshes and textures attacched so I don't know if I included everything
Thanks llde, that's great!
I tested it and it works fine but I noticed a couple of things:
- Creeper is not standing in the same place as he did in Morrowind (in the corner, near his drums)
- "Creepers chest" is half-buried in the floor
- Why is he essential?
- It's better to check "No Rumors" and "No Persuation" on him.
- Why do you give him unique eyes and unique skin texture? It will never be seen because he's wearing full-body scamp suit.
- His AI package has "Continue if PC near" and doors flags checked. It's better to remove them, since he's not the owner of the cell. (or you could just give him aaaServicesEditorlocStandStill package. There's no real need to create new one)
- Why does he have all this stuff to sell?
For the place I put it where I find a test non working creature creeper in morrowind_ob.esm
The unique eyes textures like the particular facegen morph is dued the fact that without them sometimes the npc eyes is shown (a little scamp head mesh bug that I can't fix)
Essential flag was selected during test stage( I'm not very good to place object in game world, this was did to prevent death caused by free falling, this is the caused of the creeper's chest to be half buried)
The flag continue at pc near is selected in all merchant packadge, while the close door flag is my fault.
For the too many items bug was a fault with levelled lists. In this I need help becouse I don't know what item creeper sells in morrowind (the corrisponded editor id in morroblivion can be confusing)
http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Morrowind:Creeper - his items are listed here
Also "Continue if PC near" has nothing to do with being a merchant. It's "Offers Services" that controls it.
New version:
http://www.mediafire.com/?2fowt3f9is4ucfb
Fix the bug with Ai packadge( door are not closed anymore)(if you have triggered this already use unlock consolle command)
he is not essential anymore
Now sells only the items he sells in morrowind (more or less)
Chest position is updated
Creeper is now near the drums
Require a clean save
Thanks for making this mod llde, I've been waiting for someone to introduce Creeper into Morroblivion! Though i think that Creeper's chest is facing the wrong way, and is facing towards the wall instead of away from the wall. Though this is just a very minor issue. Thanks again!
