Well, I have started to add the quests to this game. So far i have put in about a 1/3 of the quest stages/ journal entries.
Once I have finished that I will add the topics and greetings, only about 1/2 the topics converted over so at least that lessens the work load a bit.
Once all the dialogue and quest stages are added then comes the task of linking them all together and getting the quests to flow, which i have a bit of trouble with, my quests at the moment seem to go from the greeting, choosing a response then straight to thanking me for completing the mission. But I'll worry about that later, first, I'm getting the dialogue added.

UPDATE:
Just to let you know I am about 3/4 complete of adding the quest stages/journal entries. Who would have guessed there is over 4000 lines of text in the journal.
This is the easy bit as it is just a lot of cut and paste.

Next the dialogue which is a lot trickier as it has conditions to deal with.

Just note, when I'm finished adding all the dialogue don't expect fully working quests, that will come later, expect lots of things to be broken, but at least having all the dialogues and topics we will be one step closer to a complete game.


what about guild quests and

what about guild quests and house quests? i was thinking we could just keep the same from morrowind..i honestly like the fighters guild quests from MW more then those from Oblivion

oh and add the corprus disease with the respective quest..i love the fact that you suffer a lot from the disease but when you're done you get 100% disease resistance

Sounds neat, keep up! There's a mod for the main quest, you should create a plugin that includes the guild quests.

I had that main quest mod.

I had that main quest mod. It works some times but there was alot of issues with disposition and level that would stop you from continuing. It would be a good place to continue the quests from though since all the dialouge is there.

Yes I know there's a lot of quests, but you can ask for help... I mean, the best option will it be to have a diversity of choices, one person can handle the Fighters Guild Questline, other the Mages Guild Questline and so on. Then you can merge the ESP's.
There's just too many quests in the world (including the random ones) and it's not a bad idea if you ask someone to help you.

Right, so I need to explain

Right, so I need to explain myself better.

All I have done so far is add all the text that gets put into your journal and set the quest stages.
The quest stages are what the game looks at to see where you are in a quest and decide what dialogue to show you in conversations, the quest stages are just numbers with some text attached. Without quest stages there will be no dialogue.

For example, here are some quest stages and the resulting text that will show in your journal,
Quest stage 10 = I talked to some idiot about a quest
Quest stage 20 = I don't know why, but I've agreed to do his dumb quest
Quest stage 100 = I've done his quest, and got a crappy reward.

Once all the quest stages, topics and greetings are added to the game, it will make it a whole lot easier to make the quests, cause then you will just have to link them all together, define the correct parameters and so on.

So in summary, I have made no working quests.

A break through of sorts For

A break through of sorts

For those people familiar with the quest editing, from the small amount i've tested, most of the dialogue topics are complete, but are missing the greetings and quest stage updates to progress the dialogue.

What this means, is that i only have to add the correct greeting to an NPC, use the addtopic function and link the topics to the correct quest stage.

An example of my testing, I adding a greeting to Vodunius Nuccius in Seyda Neen and linked it to his already converted response, then while in the game, he greeted me,(the only text i added) told me to see go see Darvame Hleran at the Stilt Strider and he gave me another topic where i could ask about himself. I walked to Darame Hlern and she had a topic about Vodunius i could choose.

All this with just adding 1 greeting. If this happens for every quest it will be easy.

Another update for those

Another update for those that are interested

I have added all 4000+ greetings into the construction set( not the game yet) it only took an hour once i discovered a handy shortcut.

Next I'll be linking these greetings to the respective NPC, once this is done most NPCs in game will greet you with appropriate dialogue, this may take a while though.
Then I'll probably release an Alpha version for the active modding members on this site just so your Vvardenfell is not so boring, and you can somewhat talk to people in game.

All quests will exist eventually, But right now I'm dealing with greetings, you can't have a quest without a greeting right.

First up I'm thinking about doing the greetings in Seyda Neen then I might release that as a teaser pack.

I've been making good

I've been making good progress, learning the ins and outs of function variables.

I've got NPC's greeting me differently depending on their disposition towards me.

I'm going to wait until I've done all the towns then I'll release a Greetings Alpha Plugin. No quests though.

Something I've notice with my testing though, is that the voiced Oblivion greetings will no longer trigger while using my Morrowind greetings. I personally like this as it gives it more of a Morrowind feel, and all the quests will be non-voiced also so it all sort of fits.
What do you guys think??

Greetings update Progress is

Greetings update

Progress is going well, I've only got 10 more towns to go of localised greetings, i.e, "Welcome stranger to Seyda Neen", Or "Hi pilgrim, this is Vivec"

It's working quite well in game, with people greeting you depending on where you are, what you disposition towards them is and whether you have spoken to them before or not.
But that is all you get at the moment, no choices added yet.

Will hopefully have a release in the next few days (alpha release that is) There are still some issues i can't deal with, but if i release it someone else might get it working, such as displaying character names in dialogue, think it needs OBSE for that.

The shivering isles have their own set of greetings so it would make sence that some of the greetiungs in Morrowind be different from Cyrodil, *thought bubble* Morrowind + Oblivion + Expansion packs and plugins for both = biggest game ever + mods = bye bye social life.

I'm still working on this, still working out the CS. I've still got 3000+ lines of text I need to write conditions for, I think I've done about 1/5 of the dialogue lines.
And like I said, if you want an alpha release PM me your details, but only if you are contributing to the project.

Yeah, I could use some help.
There is no programming that needs writing, it's just a case of copying the morrowind topic conditions into morroblivion. Mostly simple, but slow and boring. PM me your details and Ill send you some stuff.

Now, progress so far...

Quest stages and journal entries Done (Needed to advance quests and dialogue)
Localised greetings Needs minor tweaking (Different greetings in each town)
Topics WIP (What you can ask people, also advances quests)
Individual Greetings ToDo (Used to start conversations and quests)

As a side effect of doing topics, I managed to get Siltstrider, boat and mage guild transport working, which looks like something Galadrielle incorporated into the converter, as it was all in french.

another question i am probably more of a pest but does it require any morrowind expansions like tribunal or blood moon cause i just have morrowind it was hard enough to find that game in shops but i fine with oblivion expansion a have all of those

My morroblivion has both

My morroblivion has both expansions, tribunal and bloodmoon, and also some of the addons like Firemoth.

It won't make a noticeable difference if you don't have them all, you just wont see the dialogue topics relating to the expansions.

So if anyone is interested in helping, send me a PM with your e-mail, otherwise this will take a long time.
What i need help with is adding the topics, Dialogue choices and conditions. Fairly straightforward stuff, but time consuming. It's just copying what is in the Morrowind CS into Oblivion cs,

Don't worry, I'm still working on this, and it's coming along nicely.

Morrowind greetings are divided into 9 different categories:
Greetings 0: Npc is alarmed
Greetings 1: Quests (actually quests where it doesn't matter if the Player is a vampire, is nude, is a criminal, is diseased.
Greetings 2: Player is a vampire/player is nude
Greetings 3: Traitors to Morag Tong
Greetings 4: Crime and disease
Greetings 5: Quests
Greetings 6: Factions
Greetings 7: Classes, Endgame, Slaves
Greetings 8: Clothes (general greetings concerning how player is dressed)
Greetings 9: Locations.

I have mostly completed Greetings 6 thru 9 minus a few scripts and things. (I can't do scripting Sad )
I'm working on Greetings 5 and about 1/2 way through, it deals with quest conversations and individual greetings.

It's quite interesting to talk to NPC's and see their topic choices increase the more they talk, just like in morrowind the topic list does get quite large.

NPC's will say different comments depending on how much they like me, what location I'm in and even what I'm wearing.
