Hopefully someone can help me, my game isn't loading. It gets to the loading screen before the main menu and then it doesn't do anything.. I have FCOM, don't know if that has anything to do with it.. I can post my load order as well. I'm stumped here..
Here is what i did:

Clean instal. I used that installer to install FCOM, the game works fine. I played for about an hour and all was good. So i started installing this. Got all the stuff i have to have to use Morroblivion, installed it all.. activated everything, but not my game wont load. It gets to the loading screen before the main menu and never really moves. I've waited almost an hour, and nothing happened.
If you ask me your computer can not start a game with 100 mods + A compeletly new world possibly more cpu eating than Oblivion.
1)Check you loading order.
2)Deactive FCOM and try
3)Deactivate Morroblivion and try
When Oblivion does that, it means with 99% certainty that you are missing a Master File.
Use the mod checker function of Wrye Bash, which you would need for FCOM, to identify the missing Master.
I have 227 active mods, so the number of mods doesn't matter as long as it is LESS than 256.

I was running 160 ish and my loads were FOREVER long, so I trimmed to 130ish. How long does it take you to load a file???
Is 256 the maximum number of mods then?
It takes me about 3 1/2 minutes to load up Oblivion. It seems like forever.
256 is the maximum, including Oblivion.esm, so technically 255 mods. This includes any ESM files and, believe it or not, esp files is your data directory that are even NOT active. Oblivion still loads them even if they aren't active.
I have bumped my head on that 255 mod limit several times.
I can run with 227 mods because I have combined 43 patch mods from all the Unique Landscapes into one big patch, have combined 42 mods into the Bashed Patch, and have absorbed many other mods into my own big mod.

So in theory would Oblivion load faster if I deleted or moved those 100 inactive esps in my data directory?
Yeah you best remove all .esm’s and .esp’s you don’t use. You don’t want to have a game crash because a bugged mod’s.
Wait, SB: I'm only 'running' / 'have activated' the mods I use, but I have maybe 70 -100 mods that I don't use in my data folder. Are you saying move/delete the esp files themselves from my data folder, even though they arn't clicked on by wyrebash?
I don't know why, but doing such a thing sounds.... revolutionary! lol

It seems I have the same problem on my computer. After following the installation instructions, the game get stuck on the first loading screen. Tried to uncheck Morrowind_ob.esm, game starts as usual. tried to put Morrowind_ob.esm in third position in load order, game starts ... excepts i end swimming when I take the boat to Seyda Neen (I know, I was warned
)

Umm can't start with 100+ mods? I'm running 141 atm including morroblivion, Cybiades, Blade Song, Elsweyr Anequina, TRON:The Underdark and Andoran Axis. It only takes my system about 15 seconds to load to the menu screen.
But to the question at hand. Usually when the game locks up at the load screen like that it's a missing master for one of the loading mods or a file that is loading before one of it's masters.
Easiest way I've found to find which is to open tes4 edit. It will "Crash" at the point were the load is wrong and give you a message that "such and such" mod needs master "such and such" loaded before it or Such and such mod is calling a master that doesn't exist if the master is missing.
Thank you for your reply. Strangely it was Hemingweys capes that was the cause of all my troubles ... It works like a charm now it is deactivated
