Game crashes when I look at one spot on ship
Hello there,
From what I've seen so far from the gallery and videos on youtube, this mod looks fantastic, and I can't wait to try it out! However, I've been experiencing some problems.
At the moment, I'm using the OblivionModManager to manage my load order, and I also use BOSS to check for conflicts. I've tried using Bash, but Bash gets held up with issues regarding Python, and installing Python didn't fix it, so I'd rather avoid Bash if I can.
Anyway,
I followed the install instructions in the v53 readme. At the moment, I'm trying to run the game using the load order:
Oblivion.esm
Morrowind.ob.esm
Unofficial Oblivion Patch.esp
Purge Cell Buffers - Cell Change.esp
I experience these problems:
I start in the ship, and talk to Jiub. There's some large gold diamonds here and there, but there are areas without the diamonds. I think they are associated with parts of the ship itself. If I just stand there and not look around nothing bad happens. But, if I look at the upper left corner of the room, it crashes. If I start to follow the sailor, as soon as I start to look in the direction of that corner, the game crashes.
It could be my video card- I'm using an ancient GeForce Go 7300, however, there is no stuttering, and everything is very smooth with no lag. I also have the minimum graphic settings setup, with the distant views option turned off.
Now I don't actually have Shivering Isles, but I've read that the only thing dependent on Shivering Isles are the Golden Saints. So that shouldn't be the cause of the problem.
I do have Vardenfell Imports installed. At first I thought that it might have been installed wrong, with textures not lining up with meshes, so I downloaded the .54 version I found that was supposed to be properly combined ahead of time, and dropped that into my data folder. No change. That being said, I would think that Vardenfell Imports would deal with a lot of small items. I think the meshes I'm missing are bigger than that, because these diamonds are huge, and seem to be concentrated on the wall or ceiling.
Any ideas as to what the problem is and how I can solve it?
Edit: If I look at the ground when I move around, I can get up the stairs to the second floor, where there are no yellow diamonds. However, if I look at the part of the second floor where underneath the trouble spot is, it crashes. Also, Jiub's pants/legs are missing. Some portions of the walls of the ship are purple.
You say that you have the minimum graphics setting setup, that`s ok ,but the setting that sets the texture size must be set to the "Large" setting in video options to run morroblivion.
I do have that set to small. I'll set it to large and let you know what happens.
It must be large or morroblivion will not run properly.
I set it to large, and restarted Oblivion. No changes.
Are you using thermadors complete install,or doing it the hard way.?
I did it the hard way. Is the complete install link up to date?
Yes, why would you think it's NOT up to date?
I have always updated it on the same day that Dave updates the Project Release thread.
You should learn how to use Wrye Bash anyway. The latest version does not require a separate python install; it's all contained in one executable.
I'm sorry I didn't mean any offense. The post was dated for last November, so I thought that the link might not have been updated.
Well, it isn't Shivering Isles. I ran Morroblivion without it for a couple of months, and if definately did not crash in the ship. I only had to worry about it when I was in the Grazelands or Daedric ruins (where most Golden Saints are). Even then, only about 50% - 75% of the time it crashed. Sometimes the Golden Saints were just invisible. It sounds to me like you are simply missing some meshes and textures. Check the install instructions again, or just download Thermador's complete installation.
Also, the size of the diamonds is exactly the same for every mesh, whether big or small. Technically the large texture size is not required, however you get some very weird graphics problems without it.
Dude i had the same exact problem when i tried to download it. this is how i fixed it:
Set Textures To large
Enable Shivering Isles DLC.
If your are still having problems with purple textures, or yellow boxes do this:
Redownload the NIF and Texture files.
Download a BSA opener and unpack all of your Shivering Isles textures and oblivion textures.
If that still doesnt help procede to do this:
Uninstall the addon completely, and restart from step 1. (ALSO GET OBLIVION SCRIPT EXTENDER!!!)
Okay I got it working now. I just reinstalled to a fresh copy of oblivion. I'm still missing some textures- that of the huts, a fence door, mushrooms, and certain wall and ceiling tiles, but I don't really mind.
