Looking for Models

Hey there, I've just got a passing question.

I've been working on a Skyrim follower mod that deals heavily in Morrowind's lore, and I've been wanting to include several creatures from Morrowind. But, I've got little to no experience in making models. Would I be able to use some of the assets from Skywind instead?

I'm specifically looking for models for Sixth House creatures, Ashlander assets (yurts, decor, possibly clothing and their herd animals), and Vivec (the god, not the city). Would you be able to help me out?

We can do asset trades.
We can do asset trades. Something in exchange. The models you mention involve over 100 hours of work and cant be flung out for nothing

Lol it is sad. In my opinion

Lol it is sad. In my opinion all modder assets is public domain.

I had hoped that with the release of Skywind I can use some models for TESIII, transportation from Oblivion and Skyrim will easy to do on OpenMW.

Click here to expand or collapse this section
And in another my opinion it will be better if Skywind develp on OpenMW, like total conversion, because TESV engine and CK had a lot limitations, which do not allow to do a lot of features.

If Skywind would be developed

If Skywind would be developed in OpenMW we'd be depending on their development, and take another 5 more years (of mostly waiting) :P

From what I remember what happens to the assets depends on what the creators (for example Ravanna) want to do with them. If they made something for Skywind they can share it elswhere too, like quite a few of our modellers already did. Thing is that 99% of the assets here are not made by a single person - designing, modelling, texturing, shadering and rigging is all done by different people, or even groups of people, so you can't simply contact the "author" since there are so many of them.

That might not be true as of now though, not sure if the policy was changed in any way, but most project devs aren't even in position to give away assets done by other people for Skywind anyway. And most creators of content also make it for Skywind exclusively and not to be used elsewhere.

Besides, in modding if you want to use someone else's models in your mod you HAVE to get their permission, and they can refuse for any reason they please. Models aren't open resource by default, never were and never will be.

I don't think so. They say that 1.0 will be at this year or maybe on early next. All assets can be transported easely. But you know better.

Okay, I understood.

Yes, comrade! As comrade Lenin said "Imperialism is ready for any crime when profit is 100%".

You asked and we replied. You have be able to understand, that if someone put a lot of work into something, it's common decency to ask them permission before using it. Furthermore that it is their right to say no.

It's not that we don't want to share our things, but we'd very much like things in return that can speed up our own process. I'd be very sad to see this project associated with greed however, as people are pouring more energy and time into this than they probably should, and expects nothing in return.

I don't really have anything

I don't really have anything to offer Skywind in return. My modding time is taken up with my follower mod and quest writing for Tamriel Rebuilt. I don't have the time to take on another project, especially for something that is only a hobby.

Thanks for the replies.

I believe, personally, that

I believe, personally, that models and assets from games and mods should be free to use unless the person using them will make a profit, or they will pay royalties. Why can't Skywind and Beyond Skyrim share assets? Why doesn't Skywind borrow from the Dragonborn DLC and Morrowind/Oblivion?

Not too start a flame war.

Not too start a flame war. But that is one of the dumbest things I've ever heard.

Yes comrade!

You'll get the answer when you start creating assets yourself.
