Description

The game crashes everytime I go into the ashlands near Hassour, the area east of the Shulk egg mine and the wooden bridge.

This area seems only to effect the volcanic areas, as staying in the grassy areas doesnt seem to cause any problems.

I usually let the experts comment on these crash reports, but I fixed this one a long time ago and traced several others that occur occasionally in the ashlands.  What I found in every case is either a corrupt nif (mesh) or a corrupt or missing dds (texture). I don't know how it's happening but when I replace the corrupt file with a good one from my original download the problem goes away. In the Hassour case, there's a rat nearby that for me was stuck in a rock and crashed the game trying to get loose.  I deleted the rat in ver 50. In ver 51 I'm not having the problem and the rat is walking around unstuck..

Sometimes I get intermittent slowdowns - frame rate drops from 50-60 to 3 or 4 in an ashlands area. Toggling collision puts it back to normal so I can leave the affected area. Later, without changing anything, I might travel the same area and not have a slowdown at all.

Sometimes, a given mod will conflict with morroblivion and cause these conditions.  I try to locate the offending mod and either disable it or fix the conflict so it works ok. Occasionally, changing the load order of a suspect mod will fix the problem. This is a conditon you need to locate yourself since no two gamers use the same mod list or load order.

Savegames will become corrupt over time since the Oblivion engine stores everything inside your savegame.  No 'fix' for this short of starting a new game or loading a previous save.  I normally start a new game.

Go figure ..
