Description

Hi!

I just swam to Solstheim for fun, out of the blue in the middle of the main quest (I figured I'd try the airship quest). I haven't played Morrowind before so I don't know if I was "supposed" to do this =)

When I enter the Himmelhost Barrow, the ground and pillars show up as purple/pink:

I haven't seen any missing textures in my game before now. I haven't changed anything to the base install of Morroblivion .51 either, except for the Streamline and Darnified UI mods (which is why I'm posting as an issue instead of a request for help!)

Here's the UESP link: http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Bloodmoon:Himmelhost_Barrow

Is there a way to patch these one by one? Would appreciate assistance.

Thanks!

I'm sure Helpfulperson's texture replacer would fix this, if your computer can handle it.

Besides, it makes Bloodmoon look beautiful.

As far as if the texture really is missing in the base install or if you just messed up somewhere along the lines, I don't have a clue.

Hope that helps!

That texture replacer is included in my complete installation v051.  However, I am not sure if the missing texture is an error on Helpful Person's part, or due to my own incompetence when putting the package together...

Someone needs to figure this out I guess.  There is still a long way to go in Bloodmoon.

Is there anything I can look for in my file that would determine if it's a messup on my part or something missing in the archives?

In the meantime, I'll try reinstalling the replacer on top of my existing install, to see if that fixes it.

Also, if the bears and wolves and trees are part of that replacer, MAN. The author did an *incredible* job. It's much appreciated!

Edit:

I compared the replacer's content with the v051 archive (in Total Commander), the only file that's missing in the 7z pack is this one:

Data\textures\morro\o\TxUBMUwolfsbaneU07.dds

... But adding that file didn't fix my problem, anyways it didn't look like a ground or wood texture anyways =)

If you have the cs, you could load the cell. Then double click on the purple item/object. Then click 'edit base object' and see what nif file it uses. Then... find the nif file in your folder hierarchy and open it with nifskope. Keep clicking the arrows in the block list until you find nitexturesource nodes, and look at the texture nodes. One of those texture nodes will point to your missing texture.

Of course, that's some super involved, intense work, especially if you're not comfortable with modding. But it does work, I solved a similiar issue for myself doing that.

But it that's too strenous, then you can just wait, and hopefully someone else will figure it out. But the further you can go down this path and more info you can give, the faster people here will be able to help you.

Doesn't it give you a warning, "texture name.dds" cannot be found?
When the cell is loaded in-game?

Or does it work differently in Oblivion?

Thanks for the info. I don't have the construction set or those other tools installed right now but I'll get that setup and follow your suggestions.

I agree with your last line and enjoy being able to fish out as much info as I can on my own anyways, I know nobody likes having to guess at steps taken to arrive at a problem... it's always more satisfying when you can address the issue directly! =)

EnvyDeveloper: I'm thinking that's just morrowind... I think.

GeetheblueSky: No problem. Laughing out loud Let me know if you have install questions.
Construction kit

Nifskope
Irfan View - I use this to double click on texture.dds files and see what they look like.

If the given problem is still actual, I advise to look the given theme. I think should help )) http://morroblivion.com/forums/morroblivion/mods/2400
