Description
I must say i haven't tried v022 yet but in 021 90% of the NPC once they are dead fall through the floor and i can't loot them. same goes for their weapons. can anybody help me, give me a clue... is it a bug that wasn't fixed or did I do something wrong when installing some files?
P.S. I have noticed that in v021 there were no netch creatures. Were they added in v022.

Yes, this happens to me too, with vanilla v022 installed. It seems to happen in caves mainly, but it doesn't happen all the time. I saw it happen with the first NPC in Addamasartus and a few other NPCs and objects in that same cave.
It doesn't break the game, but it is annoying when it happens. Some kind of problem with collision meshes I would imagine.
Happens with me too sometimes ... but quite unpredictably.
Sometimes it happens that two NPC's are on the same floor ... and when I kill them together one falls through and the other doesn't.
Also lately the Palace of Vivec's door has been unreachable without tcl ... seems like the Canton's collision is blocking it :S
This problem appeared in version 021. It is clear that the case in collisions, but why they have suddenly turned sour?
Did you guys also download the complete install with v21 .... or just the esm?
Yeh it's not game breaking but it's anoying when you see an NPC wearing your shiny new armor or weapon and he falls through the floor. But anyway you guys have done an extraordinary job with morroblivion, it's simply amazing.
On a side note I wanna say that I'm playing a little bit with TES CS and if I get to learn it well enough i'd like to help to. I'm don't know much about 3d modeling or texturing but i could maybe help in bug reporting and with the CS if I get to learn it well enough. Once again great job guys.
Sure i have a complete installation. Hashmi1 - So there you have not problems with collisions? Only in Vivec?
I was asking about the complete installation because that makes sense. The v21 esm itself should not effect collision but in the complete install meshes are included ... which could possibly have gone bad for whatever reason.
I too am geting problems after v21 but they seem non-persistent ... for example in my tests with the "frozen" version of Dagoth Ur in the Heart Chamber ... I killed him 2 times with the console to check something ... the first time he fell through the floor and the second time he didn't.
Similarly in Vemynal (where you get sunder) ... I simultaneously killed the Ash Vampire as well as the Ascended Sleeper with the kill command ... the Ash Vampire fell through to a lower floor ... but the ascended sleeper didn't (though he did bounce around like a ball
).
There *might* be a problem with the meshes in v21 ... someone should try out a backup from an older version.
I noticed it with v022. I always do a full, complete install when a new version of the ESM is released. But before 022, I didn't really play any of the previous versions enough (that is, I didn't kill things) to really be able to say whether it happened it those versions or not.
As an update to this problem I tried to start a new character and right at the start after you make the character and you get to the next room with the dagger and the lockpick i noticed that once i take the dagger from the table almost all the objects fall through the table. This happened in version 022. all the objects passed right to the table so i it's not just the boddies of the NPC's. it's a new install and no files from the old 021 version.
@Seby: Are you using Hashmi's hi-res textures? For me, this issue with the starting area table only happens when using hasmi's meshes; I believe the meshes add enough "thickness" to the table so that the objects placed upon it are no longer outside the surface of the table.
I also noted that Hashmi's remesh of silt striders removes thier bonus animation...I find this very unfortunate.
Not that it's relevant, but I am using base Oblivion, not GOTY.
Just tried the game with and without the hi-res textures. NPCs and items only drop through tables and floors when I'm using the hi-res textures. Oh well.
Ummm ... are you talking about this texture pack? http://morroblivion.com/forums/morroblivion/mods/1151
If thats the culprit I can probably fix it.
Yes, that is the download that is causing my issues. I can only verify that this pack causes issues with the starting area table; I have not experimented in caves.

Pathgridding.
Oblivion uses Path Grids to place NPC's and creatures. If there are no path grids it just does the best it can. If path grids are set incorrectly, such as being too low in the floor, or inside an object, then the results are creatures falling or being trapped inside rocks and trees.
Pathgridding is an issue I have placed on my Help Requested thread.
Sorry, I have never seen nor experienced Anything like what has been described on this thread.
I currently do not have ANY mesh or texture replacers installed. I have kept it purely default so that I can recreate the Complete Installation when necessary.
However, I think that's about to change...
Yep, a little testing with v022 and v023 confirms that it's Hashmi1's texture pack that causes the 'stuff falling through the floor' problem. While clipping isn't perfect with the default meshes (stuff sometimes sinks halfway into the floor) I couldn't make anything fully disappear.
Setting status to 'needs review'... hopefully Hashmi1 can fix this! His texture pack really improves the visuals of the game.
This issue is fixed by using Eloth's Visual Overhaul.
