Description

Thread for all issues with torches.

First, they don't light up when you're not holding one - that is, they don't add any light to the scene.  That was an easy fix (esp attached).

Second, one of the torch holder rings was lacking collision to torches were falling all over the place. Fairly easy fix (updated nif file attached).

But still, some torches do not seem to stay in their rings, and other times torches are "on" when they should be "off".  I think we need two types of torches - one with an initial state of "on / burning" - the kind used for lights in caves, etc. and one with an inital state of "off / extinguished" - the kind that you can pick up and add to your inventory.

There are still multiple different types of "torches" that end up in your inventory.

Does anyone know how to replace all Morrowind torches in the game with the original Oblivion torch?

This would be desireable because:

  • Torches would stack in your inventory
  • Mods for oblivion, such as Drop Lit Torches, would work with Morrowind Torches (also DLT is required by other mods, such as Deadly Reflex)

Any ideas?

TES4Edit can do this. You'll need to create *.csv file first, and then use "Batch change referencing records" function.

On the other hand, we'll lose different design of Morrowind torches

Does anyone know if the method talked about by qwertyasdfgh could be used to remove some dependencies on the Oblivion master from Morroskyrim by creating new base objects?  That way we would not need to worry as much about converting the Oblivion.esm, just about converting the meshes and textures.

Torches also have an issue with being too easy to knock out of their holders by collision with the player. Simply walk up to one until you collide with it and it will bounce off the wall and go through the holder. I haven't checked every torch, but I know the ones in Mannammu all behave this way and those seem to be in the normal holder.
