Description
http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Morrowind:Dorisa_Darvel
I like to kill merchant npcs that are not involved in quests or ones that I have completed quests for. I do it so I can loot their shops. Anyways UESP says that Dorisa is not involved in any quests. I snuck up her stairs and shot her with an arrow when she wasnt looking. This should of killed her. She just went unconscious. I'd prefer she be dead so I more looting time. Anyways is this an intended feature or something? Are other merchants like this? I think it can be easily fixed in the cs, but I dont have time right now.

Off to jail, criminal scum!!
She's marked as 'essential' since she will provide the location of "Progress of Truth", so indirectly she is involved in a quest.
The link you provide says --
I have no idea why Dorisa was Essential, because she's not, or who made her that way when.
I had not made miscellaneous NPC's Essential unless they really were essential, or most often, if they appear in the wilderness and are likely to be killed by wandering monsters. That wasn't a problem in Morrowind, but is very much an issue in Oblivion when both the NPC's and Monsters wander around--and will start fighting each other the moment they become consious by you activating the cells around them.
I had not intended to make All NPC's that had anything to do with anything Essential.
Anyway, this will be fixed in the next version.
