1 of the ways to try and improve your game would be to Improve Laptop,to try and stop it doing so many things in the Background while you are Game Playing..
You could start with (Start\Run\msconfig --Press Enter) Under General go (Selective Startup) go to (Startup) on the top Bar..My game computer is not on the Net So I can turn Off Every thing the Computer doesnot Need,,

My Computer Runs (VIAAUD= Audio Driver,,DAEMON Tools Lite= to run Oblivion .ISO,,HDAudioCPL= Audio Controll Panel,,Catalyst Control Center= Video)
What I turned OFF (Java Platform SE Auto Updater 2,,Adobe Acrobat,,Adobe Systems,Inc. Adobe Gamma Loader,,Windows Defender)
None of what i turned OFF are needed to RUN the Programs will Still NO Problems at all,,

You will have to be VERY selective on what you TURN OFF (like) Virus Software,,Network Drivers= Internet,,Trile and Error IF you have a Windows Rego File in there DO NOT Turn OFF,,

Next Start\Settings\Control Panel\Administrative Tools___Double Click Open new Panel__Task Scheduler is the 1 That causes Problems while Game Playing
Double Click open new Panel WILL ask for ADMIN Rights SAY ALLOW,,
This is where Microsoft has Every 1 (F_ed)

Open Task Scheduler Library\Microsoft\Windows ((Remember you turn of wRONG things COMPUTER Does Not GO))

I Have turn OFF (All Under Defrag) Still works if i run IT Myself,,
                (All Under Bluetooth) is a Desktop Ido not use Bluetooth on It,,
                (NetworkaccessProtection) I do not have Network turned oFF in CMoS,,
                (RemoteAssistance)
                (SlideShow All OFF) I have not use for Gadgets they only waste resources,,
                (SyncCenter All OFF)
                (SystemRestore) Useless If HardDrive Dies this computer never goes on net,Only drivers get updated i do,,
                (Tcpip All OFF) No network,,
                (Windows Error Reporting) waste a time no net for it to report to Microsoft,,
                (Wired) not on my desktop,,
                (Wireless) not on Desktop,,
There are more but turning them of will cause Problems,,These are all things that run in the Background while you are Game Playing,,There is a Lot more Under Services I AM not going to do them in a Text file..

Start\Settings\System__double Click

On the Left hand side you will see (Advanced system settings) click This, It will ask ADMIN permissions SAY Allow,Under (Advanced) you will see (PERFORMANCE) in same Panel you will see (settings) Click will open another Panel under (Visual Effects) you will see (Adjust for Best Performance)
Click it WAIT for computer to Reset all that Happens you will Loose all the Realy Pretty Look Which does make a Lot Of Difference,,

Now don't take the wrong way I have 4 Computers Desktop,Plus 3 Laptops....

Since Windows XP Microsoft in there Wisdom have set the Operating System for The IDOT User so windows controlls all files on computer This is why you need System Restore if Your Operating System Crashes, You can have a lot Problems Access the Drive when you NEED to Put a Drive in Another Computer to get files OFF IF your Laptop Dies or MotherBoard Died..

The Default Directory in Windows is MY Documents (Problem) Every Program,and People Save in My Documents, I have Cleaned up Computers for Other People
when they Say MY computers has Slowed Down It takes a WEEK to Start Computer 

First Problem you Go to My Documents, on a 1Terra byte drive they only have 450gig byte in My Documents, know a lot of these (Idot) user,,
So Create Directorys on C:\ to suite normaly only movies Move 400gig byte into Movies Directory Computer comes Alive open a mive in Media Center it created it new Path they are Happy computer works and starts in under 5 Mins,,

By Default Windows when Starting Reads My Documents into  Memmory Incase Idot user want's to access very quickly and they dont Know to use a Computer anyway Else,,

The more you can move out of My Documents in to Directorys you have Created Yourself Helps to Take Load of Memmory..

Depending what Permissions where setup up on Computer when Operation System was installed Go to

C:\Local Disk\User\User Name My Case (Roxon)\AppData\Local\Temp __ All files in This Directory can Be Deleted
C:\Local Disk\User\User Name\Documents\My Games\Oblivion\Saves\ __ this is where Oblivion Save under Windows Vista incase you wish to move some Save you can end up with Hundreds in there,,

Under Win7
C:\User\User Name\My Documents\My Games\Oblivion\Saves.,,,

Worst you can do is not read this what it does is take the load of Memmory, so your Game has more Memmory to use to help to create less Lag under Windows XP,Windows Vista,Windows 7 Just to start Computers and have the Sitting there for 10Mins you are looking at 1.4gig  or More,of Memmory to sit there and do Nothing,My Laptop Sitting on the Net Is useing 1.83gig of memmory to do Nothing, My Desktop Is Sitting there doing nothing Useing 650Mb of memmory cause it runs less and i can trun Every thin OFF..

Delete Brousing History more Often seeing you use Game computer for internet

Under Start find Windows Explorer If you do not have Shortcut, Windows Explorer will open in a Panel by Default at My Documents unless you have Reset it to open at another Directory or in Windows 7 Case at Libraries FIND your Local Disk C:\ unless it has a Name Normanly is (Local Disk) Right Click on Local Disk go to (Properties) you will see your loacal disk under General you will see (Disk Cleanup) Click you will have to wait for IT,
You might be asked  to Allow Select for (All Users) When Panel comes up (Tick all On) under Vista you will see (More Options),Then the same as under Win7,,


Under Win7 you will see (Clean up system Files) Select this Another User Account Control Panel will Come Up say (YEs) wait for it Another Panel will come up With More Options,Click More Options you will see (System Restore and Shadow Copies) below this you see Clean Up Click this,,Another Panel will come Disk Cleanup Click Delete, Wait for it Say Ok on panel with More Options,Then Delete files computer should doFull Cleanup,,,
It Does not Delete all Restore only Back to a Certain Point..

Now while you are in Windows Explorer go to C:\Windows open it up Go Down to the (TEMP) Directory well towards the Bottom All Files in The TEMP Directory can Be DeleteD Just more file windows Reads in to Memmory..
