Skywind - Random Encounters/Events ideas. If further dialogue is needed, simply ask. I'm more than happy to write dialogue for more variety in these encounters. #1 - No one expects the Almsivi Inquisition The Nerevarine is walking along and comes across an Ordinator fighting a slightly mad Ashlander who doesn't follow the Temple. They could be arguing at the start or perhaps fighting. The player could join in, but helping one would decrease your standing with the other (e.g Helping the Ashlander could hurt your disposition with members of the Temple of vice versa). This encounter could use multiple Ashlanders or Oridnators for larger fights. Possible Dialogue #1: Ordinator: You dare insult the Three, scum? You're coming with me. Ashlander: No, no, no, no, no. I will not bend to your false gods. Ordinator: I'm not going to ask you again. With me, or you'll be meeting your Gods sooner than you'd like. Ashlander: Violence and hate, your Gods are no better than demons! (Ordinator draws sword) Ashlander: Azura give me strength! (Ashlander draws and they fight). Possible Dialogue #2: Ordinator: I am an Officer of the Temple, you will be detained for your heresy. Ashlander: You cannot silence the voice of the Velothi. Nerevarine has come! Nerevarine has come! The false gods will be cast down! Ordinator: You're only hurting your cause, heretic. Perhaps some time in the Ministry of Truth will straighten you out. (Ordinator steps closer to Ashlander) Ashlander: Nerevar guide me! (Ashlander and Ordinator fight) Helping Ordinator Dialogue: Ordinator: I wouldn't have expected such help from an Outlander. You have my thanks. Ordinator: One less blight on our world. Ordinator: Another heretic dead, one step closer to victory. Ordinator: I appreciate the help, Outlander. I'll note your contributions in my report to my superiors, farewell. (If player is member of Temple): Ah, reinforcements. Thank you for the help (insert Temple Rank). (If player is Arch Canon): Oh, Arch-canon! I am eternally grateful for your help. I am glad to see those in power aren't afraid to silence our enemies. Helping Ashlander: Ashlander: The soldiers of the deceivers are no match for the Children of the Velothi! Ashlander: An Outlander? Azura's truth is clear to all it would seem. Ashlander: Azura bless you, my child. Your help is much appreciated in these troubled times. Ashlander: Ha! That should send a message to those demons! (If player has been told they are Nerevarine): Nerevarine? I am honored. I will fight for your name until my last breath. (If Dagoth Ur is defeated): If Dagoth Ur fell to you, what hope did this n'wah have? I thank you for the help, and saving our entire people. #2 - Netch in Mourning 1) The Nerevarine encounters a netch calf over the bodies of its parents (A bull and a betty netch). There could be a dead animal (Nix-hound, cliff racer etc.) nearby or dead hunters that killed the parents. 2) A bull and Betty netch are mourning the loss of their child(ren), possible bodies of killers nearby. #3 - Animal hunt The Nerevarine encounters a small group of hunters hunting a group of animals (Guars, Netches). The player could have several options: 1) Sit back and watch the hunters try to take down the animals. If they succeed in hunting them, the hunters would group around the bodies to 'skin' or cut them (crouch near them or something similar) Or, if the animals win, they run away with haste. But, if one died the group could stay and mourn their loss. 2) Save the animals. The player intervenes and attacks the hunters. This would simply mean killing the hunters. The animals would leave the player alone. 3) Help the hunters The player could intervene and kill the animals with the hunters. The surviving hunters could act as merchants, selling animal meat or skins or maybe some arrows. The merchant option could only be available if the player helped out, but if that isn't possible to do, any hunter that survives in any circumstance could be a trader. Possible Dialogue: Hunter: Hey, thanks for the help. Here, take a look at what we've got to sell, it's the least we could do. #4 - Pilgrims Simple, the Nervarine encounters a pilgrim or group of pilgrims on the road. They say they are going to Vivec to worship at the shrines. This is similar to the Dark Elf going to the Shrine of Azura is Skyrim. Possible Dialogue Options: Player: What are you doing out here? Pilgrim: We're going on a pilgrimage to Vivec City to pay our respects to the Lord Vivec. It is a long but worthwhile journey. Player: Why are you going on a Pilgrimage? Pilgrim: Why? Do I need to explain? Fine, Vivec City is the home to the Lord Vivec, one of the members of the Tribunal. He is a hero and savior of the Dunmer and it is only right for us (me) to visit and give him my thanks. Player: What can you tell me about Vivec City? Pilgrim: Vivec City is a reflection of the greatness of Vivec himself. It is the largest city on Vvardenfell, with many people, guilds and businesses crowding its walkways. It is not like other cities, Vivec is instead Comprised of nine 'cantons', each with a separate purpose. Each house of Vvardenfell; Hlallu, Telvanni and Redoran, has their own canton. The Arena is for, well, arena matches, the Foreign quarter for outlander residences and Traders. St. Olms and St. Delyn's cantons are mainly reserved for local Dunmer residents. Of course, there's also the Temple itself, the main destination for my visit. Above, the Ministry of Truth is held in place by the magic of Vivec himself. Finally, there's Vivec's Palace, home to the great God in all his glory. Player: What can you tell me about the Tribunal? Pilgrim: The Tribunal are the true Gods and Saviors of the Dunmer people. There's Vivec, Almalexia and Sotha Sil. I'm afraid I can't give you too much information, but there are many tomes on the subject. Player: What can you tell me about Vivec? Pilgrim: Vivec lives here on Vvardenfell, in his palace in Vivec City. He is a mighty warrior and also an excellent poet. Vivec is very much the embodiment of what makes the Dunmer people great. Player: Who is Almalexia? Pilgrim: Wife of Saint Nerevar, the Laby of Mercy, the Healing Mother. Almalexia is a kind and compassionate friend to her allies and death and destruction to those who seek to harm the Dunmer people. Almalexia lives in Mournhold, Morrowind's capital, surrounded by her elite High Ordinators. Player: What about Sotha Sil? Pilgrim: Light of Knowledge they call him and deservedly so. Sotha Sil is one of the wisest and most powerful wizards to walk Tamriel. He is wise and intelligent, a genius unmatched by any. But, Sotha Sil hasn't been seen by mortal eyes in centuries at least. He is said to live in his own clockwork city on another plane of existence, but no one is certain. Either way, his wisdom and benevolence still enlighten us today. Player: What do you think about Nerevar? Pilgrim: St.Nerevar is a hero of the Dunmer people. It was his valiant efforts, strategic prowess and skill in combat that helped save our people from destruction. Vivec, Sotha Sil and above all Almalexia are surely mourning him to this day. Still, his sacrifice was one of the most heroic and selfless actions that any could undertake. He is a Saint in every sense of the word. (Continued topic for Nerevar question) Player: What about the Nerevarine? Pilgrim: Nerevarine? The Ashlander's mad idea of Enervates reincarnation? Keep your crazy tribal nonsense to yourself, Outlander. (Option if player is Nerevarine) Player: I am Nerevarine Pilgrim: Impossible! Blasphemy! If the Ordinators were here they'd have your head! We're done here. (Pilgrim could then refuse to talk with the player further.) #5 - House Recruit The Nerevarine encounters a local in clothes or maybe basic armor. They are heading to join up with one of the Great Houses. In Hlaalu territory, you'll find Hlaalu Recruits, same for Redoran, same for Telvanni. Possible Dialogue for Hlaalu: Player: Where are you going? Hlaalu Recruit: Me? I'm heading to Balmora to join the ranks of House Hlaalu, if you'd excuse me. Player: What do you know about House Hlaalu? Hlaalu Recruit: Well, its the greatest House on Vvardenfell, even if the Telvanni and Redoran don't agree. The Hlaalu are the wealthiest and are strong supporters of Imperial co-operation. All the better, I say. The time for Xenophobia has passed and the Dunmer must embrace the rest of Tamriel. House Hlaalu is a symbol of the greatness that comes with working with our neighbors. Player: What can you tell me about Balmora? Hlaalu Recruit: Well, its the seat of the Vvardenfell detachment of House Hlaalu. It's the second largest city on Vvardenfell, after Vivec. The River Odai runs through the town, and there's a Silt Strider too. Most of all though, it's a bustling trade center. Taverns, traders, smiths, apothecarys. Balmora has it all. A temple, offices for the Mages Guild, Fighters Guild and Morag Tong are there. There's the nearby Imperial Fort Moonmouth too. The most important part is the Hlaalu Council Manor, where the most important men and women in Balmora meet to discuss their affairs. Player: Can I join House Hlaalu? Hlallu Recruit: Probably, but you'd have to speak Nileno Dorvayn in Balmora first. She'll see if you're the right material for the House. Possible Dialogue for Redoran Recruit: Player: Where are you going? Redoran Recruit: To Ald'Ruhn, I'm going to join the Great House Redoran. I don't mean to be rude, but I'm in a hurry. Player: I don't know much about House Redoran, tell me more. Redoran Recruit: Unsurprising, Hlaalu and Telvanni's aggressive expansionism has sidelined Redoran in day to day politics for the most part. But, Redoran is still a formidable power and can easily rival the others. The men and women of House Redoran are the most honorable and loyal Dunmer on Vvardenfell, and that's not a word of a lie. While Hlaalu seeks only wealth and the Telvanni seek power, Redoran is the only House on Vvardenfell that truly represent Morrowind, the Dunmer and our values. They operate out of the mighty city of Ald'Ruhn, near the slopes of Red Mountain. Player: What can you tell me about Ald'Ruhn? Redoran Recruit: Ah, the Vvardenfell seat of House Redoran. Ald'Ruhn sits near the slopes of Red Mountain, not in the easily lived in lands around Balmora or the islands of Sadrith Mora. No, Redoran live at the edge of the ashlands, not fearing the creatures and monsters of the wastes. The mighty city is guarded by the honorable warriors of House Redoran, a group I seek to join. Ald'Ruhn itself is comprised of buildings, made from the hides of local insects. There's many residences, traders, taverns and guilds throughout the city. Silt strider services are available for visitors and travelers too. House Redoran itself is based mainly in the "Under-Skar", manors housed inside the body of a long dead giant crab. The Redoran also tolerate the presence of an Imperial garrison nearby at Fort Buckmoth. Player: Do you think I could join the ranks of House Redoran? Redoran Recruit: Not my call, but I'd expect so. Even Outlanders can join and rise in the ranks of House Redoran. Speak with the Redguard Neminda in the Redoran Council Hall in Ald'Ruhn. Possible Dialogue for Telvanni Recruit: Player: Where are you headed? Telvanni Recruit: Step aside, Outlander. I'm on my way to Sadrith Mora to join the Great House Telvanni. Player: Can you tell me more about House Telvanni? Telvanni Recruit: Incapable of reading a book? Typical. Very well, Telvanni is a Great House of Morrowind. Its ranks are comprised of wizards, enchanters, mages, apothecaries and warriors of many types and specializations. The Telvanni grow their strongholds and towns out of special fungal spores, creating towering structures that are amazing to behold. Most of the leaders are wizards of great skill and prowess, their knowledge is nearly limitless and they are constantly experimenting and discovering. House Telvanni's capital is Sadrith Mora, in the east, but several Telvanni Maset Wizards have towers at Tel Aruhn, Tel Vos, Tel Mora, and Tel Branora. As a rule, House Telvanni seeks to learn and doesn't like the interference of Outlanders such as the Empire or the Imperial Mages Guild. Telvanni are above superstition and fear, so the Tribunal Temple is very much an enemy of the House Telvanni. House Telvanni is also one of the few factions in Morrowind that openly endorses and practices slavery. Player: Slavery? Why Slavery? Telvanni Recruit: Mostly poor souls who won't be missed, usually Khajiit or Argonian. Before you say anything, slavery has always been an integral part of Dunmer culture. House Telvanni understands the harsh truth of our world; the strong grow strong by dominating the weak. That is the reasoning and only the ignorant would argue against it. Player: What can you tell me about Sadrith Mora? Telvanni Recruit: Do I look like a mere tour guide to you? Sadrith Mora is the seat of House Telvanni. It is, like all Telvanni settlements, made of towering fungal homes and houses. If you're planning on visiting, be ready to swim or take a boat. There are traders and inns there but the most important part is the Telvanni Council Hall, where much Telvanni business is discussed. The Master Wizard Neloth also has his tower of Tel Naga in Sadrith Mora, but you'd need levitation magic to see him. Does that answer all your questions? Player: Is House Telvanni accepting new members? Telvanni Recruit: Clearly, or I wouldn't be here speaking with you. Those seeking to join House Telvanni would go to Sadrith Mora and ask someone of an appropriate rank. However, few Outlanders are permitted to join, especially those without an aptitude in magic or who are mind-numbingly ignorant, so you may find
