Have you ever noticed that there are often useless items in the homes of random NPCs? Plates, pots, pans, bowls, and so on. Then there are items that are very common. Iron ingots, daggers, pelts, lock picks, you get the picture. I was thinking that you could use these items to create a quick, but strong armor out of random junk. It would serve as a use for some items that had no or little use before, as well as the fact that some merchants might pay a pretty penny for it. Not only could you do this, but you could take cast iron pots and metal plates and melt them down into ingots. I do not yet have a design of what it might look like, but I figured it would be a good idea.

I like the idea, it's a nice one. But I don't believe it can quite fit. Skywind, as a project, serves to recreate Morrowind in the Skyrim engine, adding in the aspects we liked from skyrim (the engine,UI, enhanced graphics, etc.) and making the old game loved by numerous people from the older generations of gamers available to the newer generations. While creative input is a component of the project as a whole, with various interpretations of game elements like concept art and 3d models, changing or adding a game mechanic is straying from the direction we are heading. If the added game mechanic is not well received, or breaks immersion, then it takes away from Skywind as a whole. Robbing peoples' homes and making armor out of the stolen loot may very well do that.
Jut my take on it, but i'm not really important. So, what do i know?

You're welcome to make it after we have saucepans and plates all modelled. As a hint I can tell you though that they wouldn't offer much protection. Iron will have a "junk look" straight from post-apocalypse, but no visible house clutter, more like old steel re-smelted and reforged. More on iron armour >>HERE<<.
I understand your point of view, but I wish to give the player a head start as well as a upper hand in early game play. I do not wish to take away from Skywind. I only wish to add to Skywind as well as give users other ideas to take to the creators. On another not in your comment, I will be posting Concept art soon, so keep an eye out.

And why would you want to give player a head start? It's much better to mash them into muck and mud, so that they fight their way up into badassery.
Like you said, it would not provide lot's of protection, secondly I think it would be useful to make an easy armor out of minor things into something you can use early on as well as in a mid-game state so you can take things with little value and turn them into something that you could sell for a larger profit. Plus you also said I could add it in once you have added more items. I can use this opportunity to use common objects to make a strong armor.
