I have a request to all to put concepts related to this topic here (of course after putting in xxx's doodles) I will add some supplements too in the near future ;)

I don't know who is author of second image, but it correlates with my view of Red Mountain as Shield Volcano.

---

A shield volcano... that was be very impressive... though, near impossible at this stage without removing half the ashlands landscaping :P
I like the angle of the two pieces in the later post. They really capture what I would believe would be the image of Red Mountain from Molag Amur. It would be nice to see elements of more active volcanic movement down the south eastern edge of the mountain; lava, geysers, sulfuric fog and steam blending in with the lakes of the region.
I'm not sure about Dagoth Ur being displayed as a city - I always envisioned it as an imposing fortress built into the inner cliff of the volcano, as if the structure itself was meant to survive through and house its inhabitants through a violent eruption. A typical dwemer city like the ones around Vvardenfell wouldn't give this impression.
Some addendums for red mountain area.
Red mountain atmosphere bigger size -->http://lukkar.deviantart.com/art/Red-mountain-atmosphere-448659948

1. Hihgest level (clear sky, some clouds, very good visibility)
2. Transition level (a lot of yellowish clouds, lights beams, medicore visibility)
3. Dense brownish clouds (dark dust, lightings, poor visibility)
4. Lowest level (duststorm, ash fall, medicore visibility)
Paths and rocks formation bigger size http://lukkar.deviantart.com/art/Red-Mountain-paths-and-rocks-formation-448662500

1."pillar" stairs 2. rope bridge 3. "jumping" path 4. arch path
a. U-shaped ravine b. V-shaped ravine c. zigzag path d. pass
A. carved stone path B. carved stone path with some tunnels
1) viewpoint
1# lava river 2# lava lake
@LASentry Cool idea (sth like Olimp) but I think this is quite hard to find enough room for it. The city can expand only vertical not horizontal what I am very much in favor of it. Sth like hieronymus7z idea. We can add some very high tower as viewpoint which from u can admire the whole vvanderfell.
@Tajnarasha I like idea about that each slope (W, E, N, S) will have some own unique style)
I will add some small rocks avalanches and some sulfur reeks too. I wait for feedback as always :)
> Dagoth Ur being displayed as a city
= History have some examples of fortress-cities in calderas or craters.
This is such nice idea - to make your home on center of volcano :)
Actually i think city is better - may be dwemers need big place to work&live on Akulahan and they had some mine or power plant here.
@LAsentry : may be is it possible just to raise level of this ashlands? And mountain-type model can be placed deeper in ground.
Edited.
New stuff. Dagoth Ur home

We don't have so much space here then we should use some optical tricks to exaggerate like ancient Greeks did. For path I will add wider front and a bit narrower ending and taper up tower to adding impression that this is higher (there is one op-art illusion too but we don't have enough distance to use it). And leaning backward to making impression that it is much bigger than actually is. I will add viewpoint on the very top for all Vvardenfell(maybe some elevator for it). It would be great reward after defeating Dagoth (when sky is clear, maybe as tiny notification in journal).
Activicator will be platform (you have to have Sunder to activating). When you stand on platform then from pipes will extract pair, platform will rise up, pipes will fire up and front doors will open( I think it is very important here to add some good sounds)
I think the whole structure can be done from default assets (I'm aware how we have problems with that). I'm only not sure if it will be too many triangles in one place. Someone should check it.
For the mist before stone gate I wanted to create sudden transition after entering to caldera.
I wait for feedback as always. Of course this is only concept art but u get the main idea.
I absolutely love the idea of Dagoth Ur having a huge pathway over the flowing lava. As long as the fortress/city is incredibly imposing, and the pathway long and scary, it would be so badass. I really, really hope it ends up looking as cool as the concept above ^^
Tower of babel meets pipe organ. Very nice
> Tower of babel meets pipe organ.
= Dwemer catolic chapel meets gazprom.
@alysander I hope they do not cut off the gas :P
@Sharmat_Dagoth_Ur and Yours Truly Thanks
That emerging bridge could be achieved with altering the animation as seen here:

More good shit. More civilized form than before.

1) activation platform
a. sunder puted into imprint
b. platform rapid rotating (3 times right, one left)
c. platform goes up and down
d. pipes fire up one by one
f. main pipes fire up
g. pipes emit steam
h. brigde rise up
i. statues fire up
There is Crosier of St. Llothis the Pious quest We can simply add invisibility potion for quest as some facilitation to get sunder to get goodies.

What if the exterior of
What if the exterior of Dagoth Ur was made to look more like a Dwemer city? More ruins/buildings, etc.
