I think this enough for new thread, so many people will discuss it.
I think Skyrim's paradigm for item divisions inevitable more adequate than Morrowind's paradigm. I classified old ingredients to categories to show my viewpoint.
To compensate some reduction of quantity of ingredients team can add new ingreds in new plants or new organs and body parts to existing creatures and plants (Alit's eye, Forager fat, Ash yam flower, Vivec's liver :) ). Also some crafting recipes can help to provide new ingredients as result or milling, cooking and other refining. For example some things like Wickwheat flour could be created and used as ingredient (not many people can eat it), however i prefer ignore food items in general - people not eating food that can have some side effects.

Ingredients reclassification

well in my opinion is they stay as they are, because even though they are ingredients they can also be materials, for example bonemold armor in skyrim is made with bonemeal (an ingredient so you can also use it for potions), so if they can be used for two things why to divide it and make them less useful?
for me it only makes sense to separate the dwemer metal, stalhrim, the jewels and bread, i like the idea of mixing some strange stuff to create something useful like ebony and resin to restore speed.
I think team just can make better ingredients. Something new - animals have more than just skins and hearts.
---
Also from what do you can make mortar and pestle to powder diamond? And what guts do you need to eat some Dwemer metal?
I know that's in lore somewhere, but it just not very good idea.
ok i think dwemer scrap, diamonds, emeralds, rubys, pearls, stalhrim and bread could be separated. Maybe they can be powdered to make new ingredients with the same properties they had in Morrowind.
I am open to new ingredients or ingredients that were in oblivion and skyrim but were not present in morrowind like human flesh, daedroth teeth and many others. I think a list of possible new ingredients should be made.
Human flesh was in Morrowind, just very limited in supply, though you killed humans all the time, and if you knew a recipe requiring human flesh it would have made sense to use the slain to acquire it. Is it possible to have 'hidden' ingredients on characters that aren't visible until the player knows what they are or how to harvest them? Or perhaps they require using certain tools on 'ingedient containers' to harvest certain items?
As for properties, I'd say you could go a long way toward improving illnesses with making different cure disease properties for the new plants. Different diseases would need specific cures, which could be found as properties of various new ingredients (perhaps even adding to a few of the old ingredients that just had blanket 'cure disease' or had less than 4 alchemical properties in Morrowind). Put these as secondary alchemical effects so you have to combine with another plant to get the effect of curing that particular disease, and can't just eat one petal of whatever.
Just my thoughts. I will concept it soon.
> hidden ingreds... ...how to harvest them?
> human flesh
= can be coded through perks i presume
Not so sure from what daedra consist of. Are they edible?
I don't want to treat them like a living beings. They should LOOK ALIKE living, but become like broken statue after death.
that is a nice idea, it would be interesting to have different types of potions to heal certain types of diseases or poison but i dont know if that is possible to be done...
That's how daedra heart can look like (only concept yet). Vanilla way to make it too boring and not fantastic.

Certainly interesting, don't forget the black and red colourscheme!

Higher-end daedra provide hearts. The lower-end ones provide skins (scamp and "daedra" which is usually Ogrim and Daedroth). In Oblivion, we also get Clannfear claws, Daedroth teeth, and stuff from the spider. Should a Golden Saint provide any ingredient? I think we already have a thread about how they should look and therefore if they are "human" enough to provide hearts. The dremora have always provided hearts. Could a good hunter get something else from harvesting their body?

> "human" enough to provide hearts.

I think that they should be completely unhuman (cause they daedras, eh?). Game have enough mens, animals and very small amount of real magic yet.
Actually some of daedras going apart after death, of even desolating to ashes.
May be is it possible to use this way of dying for all daedras? They could desaturate after death and become soil that's just shaped like a living thing.
That's why i want to use more gray.
EDITED: Some black decomposed blood was added. Material was changed. Details was added.
Still not convinced. Should be heart-like at least- blood in blood out. Where are all the tubes going? If you want to make it really alien go for it but you should use actual hearts as reference and have it make sense. Personally I like the original. Nice thread btw. I'm in favor of adding the ingredients the were excluded from the first game, but dont think we should go overboard w it. There are already a TON of combinations as shown above.
daedra heart:

I don't know @Sasquatch, I quite like the new version...with all the grey and black it looks like they have been somewhat corrupted by the ash of the caster's location (almost like the conjuring pulls something from the caster as an exchange for being bound there), and the odd shape and numerous tubes makes them look so much more alien, as befits something from another realm. I just think it's nice to be different...Morrowind is an especially different place.
But that's just my (probably over-active imagination influenced) opinion, and we're all entitled to our own :)

Only for you:
Another possible ingredients / parts from daedra:
DAEDRA SKIN = just pale skin of daedra. With/without scales, fur and so on.
I think it should be Crafting component, but it can keep it's magical properties - leather and armor from it should be already enchanted with some defensive enchantment.
DAEDRA BONES = some warped supporting tissues. Can be milled to some bonemeal ingredient. May be with analogue properties too - so crafted Bone armor would be better.
DAEDRA SANIES = black odorous decomposed ex-blood. Can be ingredient, perfume-potion or poison.
DAEDRA ASHES = some turf-like material, in which all other parts of daedra could decay.
Golden saints could decay to skin-plates. Atronachs could consist of body parts that can be picked and milled to ingreds.
Will be good if some daedra (like ogrim) died to smaller living parasitic beings. It can be spectacular, but need LOT of work.
Way to add new ingreds/misc. items for creatures. I know that this is oblivious - just want to organise it and get feedback of ideas.

Will be good to hide some compons/ingreds from low-lvl player. For example parts of sentients race could require some cannibalistic perk. Though, medieval people not saw eating parts of human body as something bad, if it was for medicinal use.Simple box - ingredient.
Box with greed - food item.
Box with gold - misc crafting item.
