I decided to open up a new thread now that it seems like we have settled on a logo. I want this thread to be about the animations that we use for our public videos and in animations for in-game as the game launches and any thing else that are involved with these matters. First off I'd like to link you all to the two animations we have started with for our public videos:
Night: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jA8YnsHSU6U
Wind: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kot57N6Yga0
I would like you to take a look at them and tell me what you think could improve it. I am in the process of coming up with some new sounds suggested by LASentry and some tweaks to the animation but it always helps to have many ideas on the table. I also have a new sample for the Black and White Logo scheme which I will be animating for use in game:

I have made simplified the borders so it should appear to be more solid then before. As always, thoughts and suggestions are helpful. If you have any other thoughts and suggestions leave them below.

I also thought it will be helpful to list all of the current pieces we are using in case anybody would like to use them for videos and what not:
I tried something else with the in game logo, Instead of using just black and white, I added a gradient light grey to the map, let me know which you prefer:
Without the gradient feels a bit cleaner.
You might want to try a sharp edged border. If you are using Photoshop it can be a bit of a nuisance, but is usually worth the effort. Right now I think you are using the border from the layer styles which is ok in some cases, but it might soften up the silhouette of the logo a bit too much. Also it looks very nice on black backgrounds, but on bright ones it might be worth to test it with inverted values. Just to see how readable it is that way. :)
And before this is just a crit-fest: Good work! I am really just nitpicking. This is coming along nicely. I will keep an eye on this thread to enjoy your progress with it. :) If you want I can also throw in some thoughts that play out on a microdesign/pixel pushing level.
Thanks for the feedback David. Just to be clear about the sharp edge borders, you were referring to the TES Box, correct? If so yeah I agree that it might look better if it comes to a point so I will work around with that. In regards the inverted style, I took off the outer border so that it works better with white backgrounds:
I think that works. The map might need to be something like a middle grey so we can get some depth illusion going.
Yeah, the TES box. Should be easy with the vector tools. :)
Ok, I tried out the sharp edged border on both and decide to change the inverted design a bit, what do you think:
I dig it. Still thinking that the map might be better with a grey tone instead of full black or white. But might be just a matter of taste.
I agree with DavidS, I think it would provide a bit more contrast between the letters and the map.
But besides that it looks awesome
Here is the inverted midtone grey version:
I think I'm going to start using one of these logos on my concept art, where most people use the Moon-and-Star. I'm really digging the new logos, so far.
Sure thing, if you'd like I can give you a formatted logo of your choice?
Latest one is the best (by mspeed), imo.
Question is, which one works best for the in-game animation, 1 or 2:
1.
2.
I'd say 1
Ditto. 1.
yep the first. Nice and clean. :)
Perhaps a good idea to animate the logo would be to have each little section of the map zoom& fade in, followed by a melt of the main text section. The grey or grey gradient on white would work great for that.
