Redoran Stronghold question, along with a note

Submitted by bigwig77 on

Before I get too deep into the quests, when I finish the Redoran stronghold, what is the ownership of the cells inside? If I leave, say, the Lord's Mail sitting on a table inside, will it disappear after a month? Does the player character own the chests inside etc? Need a place to drop loot and plan to use the stronghold...

Used to always also mod Venim Manor to give player character ownership once you kill Venim so that once you become Archmaster you could use his manor as a house. Is it possible to mod it this way now?

Also, am very impressed with this game, am very pleased to find it so complete. Morrowind was one of my top 3 games of all time, haven't played it in years. Still had all the discs needed to install this. I used to mod the game a good deal, and recognize the years of work put into it. Thank you to all involved for such a wonderful experience.

The Redoran Stronghold is owned by the Redoran faction. So anyone in that faction can enter it and take the things there legally. Once you put an item into a cell it won't ever disappear. This only relates to containers, creatures and traps etc. And almost no containers in Morroblivion respawn. And certainly not the ones in the payer Strongholds, I just checked it myself, so it's safe to store any of your valuables there. If you ever run out of space there are also a few player homes available.

And yes, of course it's possible to change the ownership of the Venim Manor cells. If you know how to mod Morrowind, the Oblivion CS isn't hard to learn either. Here's some of the cell data that can be changed. You can also do it via script of course using the SetCellOwnership function.

If I was to use the Oblivion CS to make changes to those cells ownership to Redoran Archmaster, would it screw up my current savegame? I seem to recall having issues with that back in the day... objects multiplying etc... if that is true, I'll just stick with the Stronghold.

Thanks for your fast response!

No, it shouldn't cause any problems, it's being done in Oblivion quite a few times through scripts. And ownership will have to be changed to player, it's not possible to set it to a specific faction rank. You might have to change ownership of a few doors as well.
