Restoration trainers Not found in Balmora like they should be

Submitted by Electric Rider on

I am wanting to train my restoration skills via a trainer. There are Supposed to be 3 in Balmora but there are Not.  See here:http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Morrowind:Restoration_Trainers

Sharn gra-Muzgob offers Alteration, Tyermaillin offers Mysticism and Only He Stands there claims he doesn't offer any services. ( I'm sure I have to join some other faction to get this guy to admit he's a trainer)  -  What gives?

I know in Morrowind some trainers trained for more than one discipline and perhaps you guys had to pick and choose due to limitations on the Oblivion engine (I'm guessing) but don't you think you guys could have handled this differently and keep at least ONE easily accessible restoration trainer in Balmora?

I strongly suggest you guys re-think this pick and choose strategy and Fix it.

For the meantime - What do I do about getting trained for restoration?

I know I can spend a lot of time finding the trainer at Vos and the other trainers but I'm kinda afraid if I spend that time and trouble when I get there, I'll find you guys didn't allow any of them to be restoration trainers too !

Do you guys have a wiki page that details all these things you changed from the stock Morrowind?

Do you have a wiki page that tells where all the trainers are since you guys had to change some things and it's not like Morrowind anymore?

Well you must be doing something wrong Got Training from Tyermaillin when first went to Balmora, has Maxed player out to Journeyman.

The Game has had Trainers working in Game from around V053 with out to Many problems.there has been no Problems with Trainers Try Checking there Disposition  before trying to Train.

Oblivion only allows 1 skill per trainer, as opposed to 3 in Morrowind, so yeah, this had to be changed. Typically, the highest skill of 3 for NPC was chosen. From thr NPCs you mentioned, Only-He-Stand-There trains in Restoration.

No, we don't have wiki or anything like that, except for the FAQ on this site.

See.. thats why i suggested you guys rethink your thinking on how you pick and choose who does what.. I spent time checking a few others on that list.. I had to go to Vos to the master trainer cus no others close to Balmora would train.. there are only 3 on that list i didnt get to check but over 3/4 ths of them dont..

I'm confused on how Tyermaillin could train me in restoration even if i maxed him out - because he trains for Mysticism - what does the game do - change what he trains for depending on how much you bribe him?

( No, i didn't think i had to do anything to get his disposition up.. he's a blade trainer and im a blade..)

Tyemaillin trains Mysticism YES,,,,Going from the First Post  yes you are Confused this Morroblivion not Morrowind ,,WIKI  Morrowind is only used for REF for Morroblivion, so if you are going to Play Morroblivion by WIKI Morrowind  you will find things not the Same in Places.

Yes in Morrowind you had to Go from 1 Side of the World Space to the Other Half a Dozen times to Get Training for your Player.

Have not seen any Reason for any Re_Thinking on Who does What it has all Ready Been Done and Working for the Last Couple of Years. Also still (WIP) to iron out Hiccups\Bugs and any Other Error that can be found in Morroblivion. Everybody Plays Different on different computers and Errors will turn up.

Here's a reason for rethinking it - In the beginning of the game a player should have easy access to at least a lesser trainer of restoration because thats the most important skill that will help keep him alive.

I suspect thats why the devs who developed Morrowind made it a point to put 3 no less in Balmora - I guess you guys didn't see that reasoning.

And, yes, it's a WIP, still in beta.. I don't care whats been working for two years, I'm adding my valid contribution by suggesting how things can be done better - before it's out of beta.

When you said you got trained in Balmora to Journeyman, I thought you meant he trained you in restoration, because thats what the subject was about.

There are something like 9 Trainers in Balmora and they train to the Same Level they did in Morrowind

Things do not need to Be Better unless you are going to Re_Write all of Morrowind to Make it Better.

If you have a request, there are many good modders who might help you (if you're nice enough), but you can never make demands. Bad idea. I guess you could just open up the construction set and adjust things to suit yourself ...

I agree, roxon_55, 'things' are working fine the way they are.

I had a similar problem a while ago. I'd noticed that several of the Master Trainers, like the one in Vos, were not properly offering their training services. Knowing next to nothing about the construction set (didn't even know how to put an item into the game at that point) I went ahead and tried to fix the problem. You can read from the thread here that I didn't know what I was doing, but Qwerty and others were nice enough to give advice.

Turned out to be really easy to modify the game to my liking with a little support from the community. So I'd recommend giving it a try, Electric Rider. Make a mod with training balanced the way you think is best and not only will you be happy, but maybe you'll share it with someone else who will enjoy it.

Best regards,

Jessica

I'm not gonna say you personally but it seems to me the devs making this are the ones re-writing Morrowind - I'm just suggesting the devs fix it back so it's closer to the original. It makes perfect common sense to me.

My suggestion would not cause a lot of re-writing if the devs didn't drop the ball in the first place, can't blame me..

Nope folks, my suggesting a mod or a construction set fix for add on isn't good enough. If the devs can't see this simple logic and reasoning enough to fix things right then a mod wont help - it's got to be done right in game to begin with for everyone or it's no good.

Catch a Siltstryder to Suran Go to Suran Temple Talk to Elynu Saren Trains in Restoration  Real Hard.

As Roxon said. In addition, this is really only an issue for someone that obsessed with the Restoration training. Since I never use it, I never saw this as a problem. There is no reason for the team to have to add more trainers but making a small mod would help you out without it being applied to everyone else.
