Bloodmoon bugs - Fort Frostmoth and Swimming

Submitted by AE19 on

Started the Bloodmoon main quest today and had a couple of issues.

1. Upon returning to Fort Frostmoth after killing the smugglers in 'The Frostmoth Smugglers' quest, I received a journal entry stating that the fort had been attacked.

However, there was no evidence of an attack at all. No bodies, no mention of an attack in dialog with anyone, all the walls were intact, and I was left to figure out what to do next. In Morrowind, the well and some of the walls had been destroyed (though this never actually made sense to me). So my question here is: was leaving the fort intact intentional, or was overlooked and going to be fixed.

2. When I got up to 'The Ritual of Water' I discovered that I couldn't look down when in water, meaning I couldn't go underwater for the quest. After reloading a save, and entering a flooded cave (which spawned me underwater), I also discovered that I couldn't look up either - which meant I was going to drown, as I was unable to leave said cave.

After a bit of testing and traveling back and forth between various locations on Solstheim and Vvardenfel, I discovered that this issue only occurred in Solstheim and it's surrounding waters. Restarting the game solved this issue, but I still have been unable to find a cause for it.

1. I'm not 100% sure, but I think wall destruction is just not implemented yet. Quest should be playable though.

2. What do you mean exactly - does your mouse stop working when near water?

Please post you load order, I could be another mod interfering.

1) Walls destruction is not implemented, becouse the broken walls meshes are missing. Until Morroblivion v63 this deficency it was not accounted for, and the walls were only deactivated leaving open spots in the fort. I changed it to avoid walls deactivation, until someone would make the missing meshes. So yes you can say it was intentional, at least temporary. It made more sense an intact fort than a fort with missing walls. However forts guards should comment about the attack. 2) I don't think in all morroblivion but in the bloodmoon scripts there is nothing that potentially can cause this issue. To better investigate we need: obse version, load order, obse_plugin installed, obse logs.

Sorry for the admittedly quite long delay in response, I had several computer issues such as hard-drive failure and then had to rebuild my computer and reinstall windows.

To answer qwertyasdfgh's question, my mouse worked fine near water, but once I was in it, the vertical axis seemed to stop working. I was still able to look left and right, and I could still attack.

I'm am unsure if it was a script specific to the Bloodmoon area or just a Morroblivion bug in general. It just happened to occur there but not at Khuul or anywhere else on Vvardenfell that I traveled to while testing.

I no longer have any of the info either of you have requested. From memory, I was using Morroblivion, the official expansions and plugins (Shivering Isles, Vile lair, etc.), the 'Unofficial' patches for Oblivion and the expansions and some Morroblivion specific mods:  Chargen And Transport Mod, Oblivionised Enchants, Clothing Replacer, and Voiced Greetings and Combat. I didn't clean any of the esp's/esm's with Tes4Edit. They should all have been in the correct places (esm's loaded first) etc.

I believe the OBSE version was up to date at the time (v0021) if I recall correctly and I was using 'Universal Silent Voice' and 'MenuQue'. Can't remember if there were anymore OBSE plguins.

Again, sorry for the late reply and the lack of solid information.
