I installed very recently and only noticed the melee combat feels a bit hollow, I recorded a short clip here:
Ignore the static, I think it is from not having my mic plugged in properly.
Is this what it is like for everybody or have I done something wrong?

It's not normal. What looks odd to me in your list is that Morrowind_ob is above Oblivion.esm.
I changed the load order to try new things when i realised it wasn't working properly so it was a bad time for me to post my load order. Do you think I messed up while instaling and I should start fresh?
I have completely reinstalled from scratch including uninstalling oblivion and still have the same problem. I tried using a different version of the stutter remover too, to no avail. I did not however uninstall morrowind, I have some minor graphical mods installed for that game, could this be the reason for the issue? I will try a fresh install of that game and the installer for morroblivion and see if it fixes things. update: nope :(
If it's of any significance, I followed this guide, which is basically just a walkthrough of the manual installation:

Everything else works fine, but there is still no sound for melee combat unless the blade is being deflected.
Unfortunately, I've never had this problem, so I don't really know what the cause might be... you can take a look at this thread and see if some of the solutions suggested there work. :(
Thankyou for that link! I tried a sound overhaul mod and the problem remained.
Then I tried removing all the stutter remover files, and the sound came back, but the game was obviously stuttering. I installed the 2011 version (the oldest one) and everything seems to be working again, thanks again, i can finally get back to playing.
