No option to go to cyrodill or morrowind

Submitted by Kryalis on

Okay so when you startup a new game on oblivion with this mod installed, your looking straight at fire and you get the option to start up oblivion or morroblivion.

Now I installed everything correctly and did everything right, but for some reason, when I start up a new game, it doesn't take me to the fire and choice. It just straight away starts up in morroblivion.

Is there something missing or something that needs adding because I really want to have the option to do so.

Also I'm not sure if this is important or not, but in cyrodill you'd find a female khajitt in the imperial prison and she'd take you to morrowind and in morrowind there is a male khajitt who is the brother of that khajitt and he will take you to oblivion, but they aren't there either! By any chance can someone tell me how to get them because I want to transport my oblivion character to morrowind.

Starting location is selected in Morroblivion.ini file.

You need Chargen and Transport mod for khajiits to appear.

What do you mean by that?

And thanks for the info on getting the transport.

Open Morroblivion.ini file located in Data\ini folder and adjust any of the settings to your liking, including the starting location of the game. This is a common method to provide settings for Oblivion mods.

Yeah but how do you get the opening where you create your character and then you get the option to start up oblivion or morroblivion?

You can't.

Well how come in other videos I see people being able to do so all the time?

Because these videos are from older versions of Morroblivion. Any information on the mod which is not from this site is likely to be badly outdated.

Once I complete the Morrowind main quest I plan to have my character take a ship to Cyrodiil to do the Oblivion main quest. Then I might send him back to Vvardenfell.  I will let you know how that goes.

When playing Oblivion I often included companion Vilja and found it quite enjoyable -- most of the time.  She certainly talks a lot!  Do you foresee any problem bringing her back to Vvardenfell?

I had this problem too. I couldn't get the menu to load up. But I found an easy work around that works for me. When I load up Oblivion, I uncheck/check the mods so I can play Morro Oblivion or Oblivion. Haven't messed around with world travel but, sure it could be figured out.

So why was the in-game option to choose starting location removed?  Selection via the ini file seems cumbersome in comparison.  It's easy to modify, sure, but it's far less convenient.

I haven't modded any alternate starts for Oblivion (only for Morrowind).  Is there a reason that scripting a choice between the Morrowind and Oblivion character creation sequences would be problematic?

Also, why not include transport between Morrowind and Cyrodiil in the core package?  Preferably via a more immersive/lore-friendly method than a mystery Khajiit in Seyda Neen somehow offering the services of an Imperial Coast Guard ship to travelers.  ;)  Perhaps a merchant ship out of Ebonheart?  Just moving the Khajiit and the travel point to one of the existing ships in Ebonheart would be a significant improvement imo.

Because the new method allows to play the correct opening video. And it doesn't break immersion and the flow of the game.

It was removed from v063 because of the changes in the master which required Chargen and Transport mod to be updated. It will be included again when v064 is released.

There is no "lore-friendly" way to travel between the two worldspaces. Khajiit is placed in the prison because you are being transported by the imperial prison ship in the beginning of the Morrowind storyline.

Where is the Morroblivion.ini file?

I'm getting an error that says it doesn't exist. I did follow the detailed Installation instructions.

Edit: Also steam just updated to a new configuration recently and there is not a "Steam Community" Option under the "In-Game" section of "Settings" anymore.

It should be in Oblivion\Data\ini. If it's not there, you've installed the mod incorrectly.

I'm afraid I can't help you with Steam issues, as I use disk copy of Oblivion.

At what step in the install instructions should the INI file be generated?

Cause I ran the Installer for the Master file (Which I thought WOULD have generated the Morroblivion.ini file) but it did not. the only INI file I have is "Oblivion_default"

EDIT:

The exact error I am getting is:

Error Says

Morroblivion Errors:

-Morroblivion_ob.esp is not loaded.

-You are missing at least one of the core Morroblivion BSA archives.

-Morroblivion.ini is missing, using default settings

It's not generated, it's included in the archive.

Errors you're getting mean that you didn't follow Part III of the installation instructions properly.

Ok, I think I got it. looks like I missed the "right-click and 'install' " part. right after the image showing the sub-modules.

I was wondering the same thing. How to get to Cyrodiil if you wanted to play Oblivion. So I google searched around and found all the answers I needed. You need the new Chargen and Transport mod. It is the best for getting to Cyrodiil. It even includes a pretty cool immersive quest. Now you start the game in Morrowind. When I started the game there was no option to select which game to start in. I started in Morrowind but the Chargen and Transport mod adds one Khajiit on the boat in Seyda Neen and one Khajiit in the Imperial City Prison District of Cyrodiil. These two Khajiit are the ones that handle the transport between worlds and they have a neat little quest that progresses a little bit each time you transport. Transportation isn't free and it isn't cheap. 1000 Gold for a one way trip each time. The Chargen and Transport mod works like magic and I have been playing both games at the same time. I do a quest line or two in Morrowind then I head over to Oblivion and do a quest line or two. This is by far the best, most fun way I have ever played these games. A lot of hard work went into making Morroblivion and trust me as a player I really appreciate it a lot.

EDIT: One thing I really like when I am in Cyrodiil is that most of the time the Morrowind music is playing. I gives playing Oblivion a totally different feel and I really like it.

Wouldn't PlayBink work?

Load a temporary location ("staring into the fire" or perhaps a sort of dreamy stage indicating that the sleeping character is about to awaken) with player movement disabled, then present the choice of starting locations via scripted menu, then play the appropriate opening movie and move the player to the selected location to proceed with character creation.

For that dreamy stage, how about starting (in a small custom worldspace) looking at the full moons in the night sky and having a menu with the text: "You dream of the open sky and freedom, but awaken in chains in..." and the choices of "Cyrodiil" or "Morrowind".

Doesn't seem to break immersion to me. ;)

Obviously, one has to "forget" that the events of Oblivion and Morrowind occur some time apart in canon.  But that's not a valid reason to throw logic and immersion out the window altogether.

All I'm saying is that it seems very odd to be able to hire a Coast Guard vessel for travel purposes on a whim.  A new boat in Seyda Neen or moving the Khajiit to Ebonheart seems much more sensible.

At the very least, consider adding some dialogue such as:  "Our patrol will return us to the Imperial City soon, and for a small fee, say one thousand septims, we might overlook a stowaway..."

No. Playing intro movie is hardcoded and set in Oblivion.ini file.

This is how "alternative start" mods typically work and no, I don't want it to be that way in Morroblivion.

You are welcome to make your own transport mod of course, completely the way you like it.

How about playing a short Morroblivion title movie (which could be as simple/short as displaying a logo) in place of the usual opening (since the game is hardcoded to require an opening movie of some sort) and then playing the Morrowind or Oblivion opening using PlayBink after the player makes a choice?  Would that work?

I'm too busy fixing your magic system. :P  (Just friendly teasing, of course.)

If I stick with Morroblivion long enough, I just might make an alternate start mod.  I made one for Morrowind, and I honestly wouldn't want to go back and play that game again without it.  But I'd rather not reinvent the wheel/start from scratch for Morroblivion, so I'm pestering you with questions since you've dealt with the particulars of this kind of mod before.  And of course it would have been less work for me if I had convinced you to change the master instead.  ;)  Sorry if it's been a bit annoying.

You are missing the point - I don't want to put the player in some weird place on the start of new game where he is given these choices. Pressing "New Game" in the main menu should start a new game - smoothly and without interruptions.

I use Alternative Start Arrive by Ship to counter this. I load this after the Morroblivion Chargen and Transport mod so I can start my game in Cyrodiil and go to the Imperial City to get a ship ride to Seyda Neen. I do miss the option to start either in Cyrodiil or Vvardenfell, it added to immersion. One thing I didn't care for, however, was the lighting in the Oblivion "dream" dimension that the character creation menu was in.

Here's an idea; you could make a mod that integrates Chargen Transport and Alternative Start by Ship together, so you can create your character in a realistic ship cabin setting while having the ability to choose to start in either the Imperial City, Anvil, or Seyda Neen. But probably as Qwerty was concerned with before, it might interfere with Morrowind's starting video.

I always had a problem with it though, it would play normally but with Oblivion's music playing in the background...

Edit:

I missed this post, sorry. You could do that, although it would mean going through the boring Imperial Prison tutorial dungeon.
