Hi All,
I installed Morroblivion over the weekend and it is massivly impressive. I would agree that its alike no other. Fantastic work guys and girls!
I installed it as described in the readme (with eloth's visual Overall) but have noticed some purple objects in the background and some purple tents (somewhere) - Do I need to reinsall anything to fix this?
As I never orignally played Morrowind, im unsure if quest map markers are missing by default - is this the case?
Also is the DarNified UI mod compatable - I have searched for this but cannot find an answer? Ive installed it and it appears to be working fine.. :) - unless its created the issues above!
Thanks for your help
Barry.
Hi there Barry!
I use Darnified UI with no problem.
Map markers wern't in morrowind, but David (the leader) has added them to Morroblivion in all casses but when something is obviously a 'treasure hunt.' However Bloodmoon markers arn't completed yet (I'm actually working on them ;) and I don't know about Tribunal Markers.
As far as the purple stuff, it means you missed an install. Read carefully through th install process again, there are a lot of things that can be easy to miss with such a big install! Especially make sure you have the additional support files 2. If you give specific objects that are purple, we'll be ble to help you better. ;)
Good luck!
Thanks for the quick response Iceberg, :D
Right so when Quest map markers dont appear - they're not supposed to!
Do you think its best to reinstall from scratch or install the support files over the top? At what stage should I install eloth's visual overall if i do another full install?
Thanks again,
Barry.
Ive just reinstalled but installed eloth's visual overal last. When starting the game in the bow of the ship all the walls are now purple! :Sp
I'd just re-install over. Eloth's should go last. You're missing a package somewhere along the line, the trick its to find it. Read through the install directions again.
And you should have quest markers in morrowind, what quests are you doing that dont have markers?
Good luck!
Thanks IceBerg,
Ive now reinstalled a few times and the purple objects appear when I have eloth's visual overhaul installed- for example the shacks in Seyda Neen are all purple, distant land is too and some other random objects- bridge parts etc. I've also noticed the the ship is again now purple when it wasn't when i first started play the game with this current install...!
I have 2 oblivion folders which are identical except one has the Overhaul installed (It was installed last too as you suggested), when swapping between these installs the purple objects only appear when eloth's visual overhaul is used.
My install that doesn't have the Visual overhaul appears to work fine (graphically), but ideally i would like to install at some time to get the benefits!
Any ideas?
Map Markers - one of the first missions 'Report to Caius Cosades' has no quest map markers. Is this purely so I'm encouraged to roam or is something missing from my install?
Thanks again,
Barry.
I found the fix! :D
The ShiveringIsles ESP wasn't loading - enabled it and everything looks good!
Strange thing is that Morroblivion without the Visual Overhaul works fine without the ShiveringIsles ESP! :~
Thanks
Barry.
Weeird, but good! So do you have quest markers now?
I havent tried again... Will feedback after the weekend,
Enjoy yours.
@Bcarr:
The DLCShiveringIsles.ESP is only for the game to know that it needs to start the SI Quest.
All the DLCShiveringIsles content is stored in the Oblivion.ESM after installing / upgrading to SI.
Hi SB,
I'll try again and see if this is having an impact. :~ From memory that was the only change I made, then the graphics worked!
Barry.
Just tried again. Deselecting the ShiveringIsle esp (using OBMM) gives me the purple textures described above! Enabling it fixes the issue!!
Can you give me a location so I can travel there to check it?
I do not travel around at the moment that much.
The shacks in Seyda Neen are all purple...
Seyda Neen is not purple !
You got some serious install issues.
Possibly - But why does activating the shiveringIsle ESP fix it?!
When I installed Oblivion (then Shivering Isles), I installed the latest Shivering Isles patch - I assume this was correct?
I'll upgrade to v43 and see if the issues remains, overwise I reinstall from scratch!
I actually will agree with bcarr, the same thing also happened to me when I first installed Visual Overhaul. I figured that was about shivering isles. I did not cared much though, I had no problems afterwards.
I do not have the Shivering Isles .esp active, it does not even contain data.
The only active mods are Oblivion & Morroblivion plus my portal spell for transport.
The issue remains with v43, but as Dark South has said it isnt an really a problem - if you ignore the Si quest. The fact is this issue now exists on more the one installation and suggests this could effect others... :O
The Visual overhaul probably has some connection with shivering isles resources... basicallly I have no idea.
Somthing is demanding shivering isles...
I did some tests:
Eloth's Visual Overhaul v1.0 is indeed using Shivering Isles content.
The Shivering Isles DLC has to be active in order for it to work.
My conclusion:
Eloth's Visual Overhaul ads more bugs to Morroblivion then acceptable.
It does not stick to textures. Mesh replacement is something I did not expect.
Some meshes are bugged, not referring to the texture links to Shivering Isles DLC.
If you had read the readme that comes with the installer for morroblivion you would have seen this in it (Pay particular attention to step 2):
_______________________________________________________________________________
Step 1 Install Oblivion and Morrowind. Make a Backup of your Oblivion Data Folder!
Yes, Morrowind GOTY is required, even with the Complete Installation option
Morroblivion is protected with an Installer to insure that players have purchased
a valid copy of Morrowind, Tribunal, and Bloodmoon.
Step 2 Shivering Isles is Required
You can play around this for a while, but Resources from Shivering Isles are
needed for Golden Saints, and without it the game will crash without warning
whenever you encounter them.
Step 3 Unofficial Oblivion Patch
Required for Custom Races. Technically, this is not "Required," however people
have reported problems with "I HAVE NO GREETING" when trying to talk to some of
the NPC's in Morrowind. The UOP is highly recommended for other reasons anyway.
There are many iterations of the UOP. I am recommending the base; you can do
whatever you want with the rest.
_____________________________________________________________________________
So as you see Shivering Isles is already a must for Morroblivion to play correctly therefore; Eloth's use of Shivering Isles content isn't a problem for a correctly installed morroblvion. If there are bugs with his meshes incorrectly pointing to textures you should alert him to that and NOT start in on how his mod adds "unacceptable" bugs. Morroblivion is NOT bug free and the vast amount of work eloth has done with cleaning up and fixing the textures should be commended not condemed for a few minor oversites.
If you don't want to use the UOP this will fix the issues with the race dialogues: It's KT's custom race fix.

I remember reading that too, but I have no idea what the Golden Saints are. What is unclear in the readme is whether the Shivering Isles (SI) ESP has to be activated as well as being installed. But im guessing now because of your post that the SI install is just the SI esp with no other files - is this correct? .
Dont get me wrong, im not complaing about anything (this mod is fantastic) and im sure no one else is - im just raising a question!
The golden saint is a creature that is present in the Shivering Isles expansion. Golden saints were also a creature in Morrowind. They have been linked now in Morroblivion.
To reiterate OldWolf's point above:
You need Shivering Isles fully 100% installed and activated in your mod list for Morroblivion to work properly, regardless of whether you are using eloth's overhaul.
There is no way around this.
We all know that the Shivering Isles is requierd to run Morroblivion. The confusion was in the fact that the game needed the ESP to be active in order to access the BSA’s resources. I was not aware of that fact, all my BSA’s are unpacked and overwritten with new textures. A Oblivion installation is never the same among players. Some go for speed and high FPS, others go for upgraded graphics with low FPS and optimizations to counter the system burden. Becouse my BSA’s are unpacked is why the purple missing textures did not show up the first time.
