Morroblivion

Hey all,

This may be an odd request, but would anyone have tips for me on helping me set up my rig to increase my Skyrim graphics capabilities? I'm not really a techie and an amateur overall. I recently built my first gaming rig and I'm new to having such an advanced piece of equipment. I played a heavily modded Morrowind long ago, but with ENBs and all the advancements in scripting capabilities, I'm really quite lost when it comes to Skyrim.

Here's my rig:
Motherboard: Gigabyte X79-UP4
Ram: 16GB Corsair (2x8GB)
CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-3930K CPU @ 3.20GHz
GPU: AMD Radeon 7970 (3GB)

The highest graphic setup for Skyrim I've been able to manage reliably is the 2k texture overhaul, along with a few other texture packs thrown in. I can't really run many textures above 2k. If I run many script-heavy mods, the game also becomes INCREDIBLY unstable. For example, I spent days setting up my Skyrim based on the old S.T.E.P. guide and it was buggy as Hades. It was so unstable and I uninstalled all of them for a fresh start. I don't mess with uGrids or anything like that.

Also, and perhaps more importantly, I can't seem to get a stable ENB going. I'd like a simple one, such as RealVision but trying to add an ENB just makes for a very unstable gaming experience. I am fine with 2k textures or perhaps even going down to 1k if I could just get a stable ENB up and running.

I've tried manipulating a few components internally, making sure that background programs are shut down and memory is free, etc. No joy. Also, my game is running through Steam, and is on a separate hard drive. Windows runs on an SSD, while Skyrim is on my internal harddrive. I'm not sure if that would make much of a difference. Other high graphics games, such as Bioshock Infinite or Crysis 3, run just fine, making me confident that it's my own limitations in understanding the Skyrim engine.

Someone who could take some time to teach me and help me get up and running, if possible, may find themselves being gifted a cheap Steam game for the time spent aiding me in this endeavor. :)
