Credits Book

Submitted by Liz Katrin on

Hi Everybody!

Here is an idea:
how about we add a book to the game, listing full credits of all people that were part of the Project? [External image]

good Idea!

there is already a credits video that can go at the end of the main quest and in the main menu, but a book wouldn't hurt either

It would actually be kind of funny if people wrote a book related to their name and create lore for the game as easter eggs. For example ''Lisek'' could be the story of a Breton Bard from Highrock and how she was held in high standards by the college for the way in which she could sing. ''Stif Monkeys'' could refer to the works of a Khajiit zoologist on a perculiar creature from Elesweyr, and so on and so forth. I think it'd be a fun way to pay homage to the contributors while making the process more fun than a simple credit book since we already have the end-screen scrolling for that ;)

Yeah, what Stij said but as an easter egg that'd be nice :D

We can have a guard in Mournhold named Llaren Arvol. :P

Hide it in the Dwemer puzzle box, somehow.

Though this idea is cool, I'm worried that it might be too much work and that it can have too much influence / appear too often to a normal player. Till the project is finished we probably gonna have around 100 people that helped with it. And in this way - everyone should be included. Now creating 100 different books, NPCs, scenes or whatever seems a bit much.

I would go with something easier. We could for example populate some caves with bandits that would have devs "names" (or exchange the generic ones - though i don't remember if there were generic bandits in Morrowind or each had his own name). Anyway - if we add "special" kind of enemy that wouldn't differ much - except for having name that would indicate one of the devs and for example some sort of unique gadget (like a dog tag in Fallout NV) - i think that would be immersive, subtle, and easy enough.

Anyway - i would treat it like an additional mod, which we can create when we actually have the mod near finishing :)

I'd say keep it simple - just make it a custom 'note' instead of a 'book' so it's not randomly generated in other places, and have it to where if you 'use' the Dwemer puzzle box you find the note crumpled inside.

Everybody
Heheh... I am glad you liked the idea (actually it was my husband's, also a great fan of TES) ;)
I've been thinking of something simple like a book with just a list of names/nicks like:

Skywind Bards:
Teslightreturn
Devin Polaski
Dragomir
etc.

The software guys for example could be called, let's say... Skywind Mages of Alteration, hihi... and so on...  [External image]

Tajnarasha
Thanks for your beautiful story of mine as a bard... ;P It is a great idea but with so many people we should have a whole Saga... [External image]

Smitehammer
I like the idea of the Dwemer puzzle box hiding the Book... [External image]

I would not put any single person on the task to write up a bunch of stuff about the devs to place it in the game world. Ideally anyone who wants to participate to this would make their own little snippet in whatever format they prefer to include it in the game.

Hell, I could make some remote tomb ''whispers'' creepily say my name like some sort of ancestral dunmeri incantation... No one would even notice and that would be a nice little nod to mr. sound crew :)

Just read this thread. I believe The Credits Book is a splendid idea. IMO it should be a simple list of all contributors and they respective fields ie. graphics, music etc.

Oh, and a project logo on the cover of this book too!

I think each contributor should make his/her own easter egg if they wish, but it shouldn't be too blatant (obviously, seeing as how that's what constitutes an easter egg).

We are no credit junkies, so stop this nonsense.
No credits will ever be included in game.
Don't attract the credit junkies!

Sjors take a chill pill, man! You don't like the idea, then write so instead of downvoting each comment in the thread and deciding that you are the one that actually knows if this is a good idea or not. Did you even read the posts you criticise so eagerly? Some of us (i write "us" cause i actually commented on that topic myself - not sure if you realised since 2011 but that's the purpouse of the forum ;) ) actually wrote that if we want something like that, it should be simple and not very intrusive towards the game. I get it why you may not like the idea - I myself wrote that it's cool but i'd rather see it as an additional plug in rather than a part of the main release. It doesnt change the fact that people should feel free to discuss any ideas and any topics concerning Skywind.

Cheers

phew, that karma buffing was tiring!

Book will be good. Mod can have book's pointing and/or even book as object, but IMHO we don't need Easter eggs.

Perhaps the key question is "what Easter eggs do you want to add?"
If it will be Ra'hite trading blue moon sugar i will not be ok with this.

I like the idea, But shouldn't we focus on more important things ? This can be done later, there is already a lots of important things to do. No ?

That's just some idea throwing. I see nothing wrong with that at any stage of the production. Myself I have nothing to do with the actual project, so I don't feel obliged to get to any practical (and possibly tiresome and boring) matter. So why not talk some ideas with whomever has free time for this atm?

Also I think it's quite a good thing to collect any potentially good ideas whenever they arise, while most people are relatively fresh and enthusiastic about the project. At the end some of those people may be just to worn to care about anything else that see it done already not to mention some may leave long before.

My point is - if you have any better and more important thing to do here - do it! But let the ideas flow and people discuss them. [External image]
