Devs: Let's stream our work!

Submitted by JPNeufeld on

I've been streaming myself making sound effects for Skywind for the past couple of days and have fielded lots of questions about the project. It seems that there's pent-up demand for news on this, so why not share what you're working on? Twitch has a Game Development category now and Hitbox does too, so I don't see why we can't coordinate a time to stream stuff so that it's all full of Skywind.

I'm no super popular streamer but I've had a consistent audience every time. Who else wants to give it a shot? I'm going to keep a schedule of weekdays at 1PM Eastern time at http://www.twitch.tv/oggvorbis

exeC used to do it, I dont mind doing some, but i think sound effects are more interesting than 3d/txtures, but i can give it a go. Does it have to be twitch? ive only used google hangouts so far

Generally while I'm animating if people want to watch I stream it, but I don't advertise. I may look into posting around maybe if we go post on the facebook group if we go live or other sites. I'll setup a hitbox channel so I'm not backpacking off of brocraft or steakbasement.

Twitch or hitbox or whatever you want. I wouldn't do Hangouts as there's a limit to how many people can be there at a time.

I chose Twitch because of its larger presence, frankly

NafNaf_95 occasionally streams a bit of the landscaping he does for Beyond Skyrim, I have no idea if there's a big audience for it but I love watching it, it's relaxing and interesting. So that's one viewer. :)

Maybe - like Deadman - starting off doing it without much/any advertising is a good idea, especially if you're not entirely sure about doing it; might be good to make sure you don't hate live streaming before telling thousands of people about it. :)

Isn't twitch only for playing games?

I think Twitch added a "Game Dev" category recently for this sort of thing.
