Did you guys get around the limit to the number of skill trees? If so, how?

Hey all!

Just going to head this off by saying you guys are amazing and I, among so many others, and so grateful to see you guys doing what you're doing!

However, I wondered about something.

Apparently mods can't seem to get around the number of skill trees. It appears to be fixed to the current number in the vanilla game. If you wanted to add a new one like Medium armor, you'd basically have to scrap some other skill completely.

So, did you guys get around this? If so, how? Can other mods do this? Have you paved the way for them, or is it too big of a modification for normal mods to do?

As an add-on to that, are we getting medium armor? It was my favorite in Morrowind, I'll be quite sad if it's missing.

18 skills for all intensive

18 skills for all intensive purposes is hard-coded without delving into messy compromises. We're doing what other mods have done before and scrapped the useless trees (merging them with others) to open up new trees. Medium armour is not getting its own dedicated tree and those armours will be split between heavy and light. We toyed with the idea of having medium armour as a tree and in the end it really didn't make much sense seeing how it was largely underpowered in morrowind until the expansions but will try to highlight the unique attributes of those armours through perks within their respective trees for them. The armour itself will still show up in game of course.

Oh...thanks for that.

Oh...thanks for that.

That's a real shame medium armor is gone. Morrowind had a lot more skills if I remember right. I'm curious to see what gets merged/what gets dropped.

Morrowind had 27 skills, and

Morrowind had 27 skills, and getting that down to 18 was quite a challenge. I was pretty disappointed that we had to drop medium armour as a skill too, but hopefully you'll still enjoy what we are planning :)

We're aiming to break ground on the overhaul soon, so stay tuned and we may drop some more information on that as we progress.

The SureAI team working on

The SureAI team working on Enderal had an interesting approach on skill trees. They abandoned the Skyrim skill system and "outsourced" the skills to a small cell with standing stones (i think they are called that way. I mean the brith sign stones from Skyrim) like Stones.
Maybe you could give it a try.
