Siltstrider Variety

Submitted by Kohl on

Wouldnt it be cool if siltstriders had different textures depending on the "biome" they are in? Siltstriders located in the swamps would be mossy and pale due to the lack of sunlight and the moist environment, while the ones traveling the route between Ald'ruhn and Maar Gan could be either bleached from the sunlight or red like a boiled lobster.

some sketches to illustrate my idea:

I know this really doesnt  have a high priority at all, but i just wanted to share my idea with you.

I quite like your idea, it would add to the ever increasing variety the devs are getting into Skywind so its a thumbs up from me.

sadly graffiti in morrowind is against the lore...   ;)

I'd like to see graffiti like this painted on the walls of Imperial forts as the story progresses.

Even if they're not all 'dreamers', it would help indicate a general discontentment with the foreigner presence.  GTFO, n'wah!

not if it is done in berry juice/blood >:D it would be a nice touch for the outer walls of the forts as smitehammer said.

would like to see that ingame... seing the world around you change while you progress on the mainquest would add a lot to the immersion!

Something this made me think of is that if the player buys a player-home in a city, people could graffiti n'wah and outlander on the outside of your house.

I would say that instead of doing it by biome, give each one its own unique touches. Remember that silt striders don't actually stand there in one place all the time, but are constantly moving between cities in various biomes. The only reason this isn't displayed in game is due to technical limitations.

how about the silt striders in ald ruhn and surrounding areas had a kind of canopy to shield from the excessive sunlight, and their legs are all dusty etc?

Interesting idea but i haven't seen one person interested in doing the work.

> different species of silt strider
= more like ages or sexes. There is no chance this small island to be inhabited by several species of so big and long-lived species.

Hovever it may be good idea to invent some intermediate species (or may be larval form) between silt-striders and netch (with ability to float when feared).

I´d assume a bit of variation in wear & tear and equipment that it's carrying is all thats needed, right? I mean, they are just 1 species, there shouldn't be a massive variation of them on 1 island. I agree with Alysander in that regard.

It would be interesting if they could have pathing that allows them to travel in real-time like Touring Carriages does for Skyrim, but thats a huge project. And you mostly end up skipping the travels anyway, its just nice knowing they are there.
