Two small questions

Submitted by Solus on

Greetings, I have two small questions concerning Skywind, as a huge Morroblivion fan I'm quite excited for Skywind but I have some concerns I'd hope to get cleared up.

In the past I've played Morroblivion using my disc copies of Morrowind and Oblivion GOTY's but for Skyrim I own the Legendary version on Steam, so the first question quite simply is having Skyrim on Steam and yet Morrowind on disc will I be able to play Skywind or will these 2 not interact, as I seem to remember there being some problem there with Morrowind and Oblivion back in the day on digital and disc copies concerning Morroblivion.

The other question is how Skywind will interact with other mods, as in will it be a problem to have other mods installed. My current Skyrim installation is a lightly modded clean build using only a handful of mods essentially just patches for the vanilla with very few added scripting (really just SkyUI and Deadly Dragons).

Both seem like they shouldn't be problems however I'd like to know for sure and couldn't find anything in Skywind's FAQ.

Edit* Oh and a third thing, given the massive time differences will traveling between the 2 landmasses be possible and how will it be implemented, will the different time periods be ignored or will one perhaps travel through time and space or something like that.

First off I'd like to say I'm just a member of the development community and I cannot vouche that everything I have stated below will be true, this is my educated guess:

Skywind is designed to be it's own standalone mod. For this reason time travel difference will not be an issue as you will be using a new character (if you're dead set on using your Skyrim character, certain console workarounds may exist but is not the intent of this mod).
In terms of different media formats of the varying games, it is too early to say what will work/what will not, but the community will strive to accept all valid formats.
Mods may or may not conflict with Skywind. The mod is being designed to be the least invasive as possible to your vanilla skyrim experience, but with any mod of this size and scope may conflict or be affected by mods designed for Skyrim. If you have issues, hit up the forums and I'm sure any problems will be addressed.

For the first question, it won't matter what version of Morrowind you have as long as its GOTY edition. The installer for Morroblivion and i'm assuming Skywind just checked for a valid installation of Morrowind for legal purposes. If you have the disc version, you will point it to c:/program files/bethesda softworks/morrowind. If you have steam, you will point it to c:/program files/steam/steamapps/common/Morrowind. (or wherever you installed your game) After that, you don't need the morrowind files themselves. Please correct me if i'm wrong anyone... :)

Skywind should interact with any mod in the way that any mod does. While default Skywind will require a new game to switch from world to world, there will most definitely be optional travel mods (pretty sure there already is). In my opinion, this mod more closely relates to a mod like Falskaar or a DLC like Dragonborn, but on a much grander scale. It will add a whole new world with new assets, so texture mods from Skyrim shouldn't affect much in Skywind because they are using their own textures. However, a mod that alters the perk system or the time scale (anything global) will affect Skywind and Skyrim. There will most likely be some mods that conflict and many that work fine. There's no guarantees though. SkyUI should probably work the same way in Skywind as Skyrim whereas Deadly Dragons will have no effect on Skywind because I don't think there will be dragons. Though they are using the dragon skeleton for the cliff racer i think and who knows what the consequences of that combination would be... :) Deadly Cliffracers!!!!

Already answered your third question above...

Or someone like me will just make a mod that lets you fast travel between areas.
