My Mounts works fine in Skywind or Skyblivion, i have tried some of them…
With Skywind:
With Skyblivion:
My mods are on the Nexus:

and the Workshop/Steam:

Do not take any of our creatures and make them into mounts. Only for personal use. Do not release them, or else creature will only be a thing for devs.

Erm, you do know that the guys over at Bethsoft forums will port over the new Skywind assets once OpenMW reaches version 1.0? That may involve the creatures as well.
Can u please explain further Envy?
And ah yes ive seen this mod, but yeah, please dont touch any of our creatures, we plan to have our own mounted creatures specific to the world, and plus you know, I worked my balls off to make them.
If you have one of my (25) mods, you can try the spells and see that this is a good way to move quickly in these territories of Vvardenfell and Cyrodiil...
I'm gonna be kind of blunt. I like some of your mounts. An issue is, I can't install one mount, without installing the 20 other mounts you include in the mod. Yours mod would be a lot more usable if one could just choose one mount without having to have 20 others you don't want in game.
Like I want to have a mount, but I don't want 87 creatures standing in front of whiterun, waiting for someone to take their reins, even though the player is the only one thats going to use them.
You can choose the mod (25), and you can choose the mounts that you want in my mods "summon....." (19), because you have to buy the Spells/Books at Farengar secret in Dragonsreach or with an other spell vendor...
But that is what makes them unappealing to download. You don't have any individual mounts mods. You can have one cool mount you want, but then theres 80 more mounts in the stables. You can summon them, thats true, but that still doesn't do anything about the overcrowding of mounts in whiterun. If you look at the popular mount mods on the nexus, you will notice that its only one or two mounts. Not 20.
"I don't want 87 creatures standing in front of whiterun"
It is only my mod "Monster Mounts" !......you have also 19 mods "Summon..." (with less mounts) where you can choose the mount that you want...
("If you look at the popular mount mods on the nexus, you will notice that its only one or two mounts. Not 20.".......My mod "Monster Mounts" with 87 mounts: + 48000 downloads Nexus + steam !)Ravanna wrote:
OpenMW will hopefully have the same fancy shaders as the Skyrim engine and these assets are faithful recreations and will be great as a replacer. Some people like starwarsgal want to port these newly created assets into OpenMW. I was hoping that there wouldn't be any problem in doing so?
So you're here to promote your mod?

No, I don't work for the OpenMW team or actually planning to port the models myself. But seeing alex b's post, that made me wonder about all of the permission issues of using the Skywind assets for the new engine.
When did they say they were going to use the assets?
LASentry wrote:
I believe they said it about a week ago. Can't remember the exact thread though. It would be really nice if we can have the statics - though creatures are going to be far more difficult as they're rigged to existing Skyrim skeletons (and far less likely to be easily ported over).
I don't know what everyone else thinks, and it's not my decision, but I'd be saying to go and make your own.
LASentry wrote:
I anyway think some Bethsoft forum members would port some of the assets. I mean I haven't seen any of them asking for permission here.
That's so stupid, what the hell?
LASentry wrote:
They said that they will port them over, they never mentioned about getting permission.
that means war i say lol (wel i say lol but if the use it whit out permission i say it is war we play by the rules the should to )
also nice mounts gg77 i could see the briselback and the netch be ust and maby the asshoper the gaur got a updated look in skywind so hey would fit the white stag would fit next to bruma in skyblivion i think but that stil far away
Envy, all of your answers are irrelevant. That last one... It was like you took me literally.
LASentry wrote:
I thought you were saying that if you were the maker of the assets, you would tell anyone who wanted to port it to OpenMW to go and make their own assets.
I'm talking about your answer to that, not my question. Stupid OpenMW, I can't believe this.
LASentry wrote:
Tbf I can see why some members of the Morrowind mod community would want some of the assets in their modified game. If permission isn't granted, I'll do the porting myself and not release it.
Why would those supporting the OpenMW project even consider porting assets. When they can make OpenMW fully TESIV and TESV compatible. All they need is to do is make there Game Engine ready to accept those file types.
Sjors Boomschors wrote:
The problem is a legal one. The OpenMW team said that they would only support Morrowind NIF files, not the later ones though it is possible for anyone here who knows the NIF file format to code in support for newer file types.
And Skywind's creatures are rigged to Skyrim skeletons so even if they were directly supported by OpenMW, someone would have to either rig them to Morrowind skeletons or give them custom animations so it isn't as straightforward unfortunately.
An OpenOB would be a complete dream. Making it look beautiful causes the game to go all unstable so either Skyblivion or OpenOB would allow me to enjoy that game again.
If they want their mod or Game to be original, why would they port our assets? Also, Rav, Alex, Kurasaki, tommy, and the other do have the sole rights to their assets by law, so Expressed permission will be needed for each asset, from each creator. So, if they do this, they are not only showing that they are arrogant, but also have no respect for artistic license.
To be honest, OpenMW community has always seemed arrogant and snide to me.
The idea that the Assets our team is creating are going to be "Ported" by that team really pisses me off. The artists here have worked too hard to have their work stolen and used without their permission.
No, the actual team will not port over the assets but people like starwarsgal will do. She said that once OpenMW reaches version 1.0, she wants to port over the new assets as there will be support of normal maps...etc.
but her statement never said anything about permission from you guys. Must be either she won't ask permission or would use it personally with no release.
Even if it's a single person and not the whole team, it's still a load of bull. Not asking for permission is still not asking for permission, and everyone here has worked their ASS off just to hear that others are wanting to take their work without permission.
I mean... People are going to do it anyway. But this StarWarsGal lady announcing it like that is just a reeeeeeal dick move.
https://openmw.org/faq/
Everyone who is actually an active member of the OpenMW team seems to be facepalming pretty hard at this thread and at some other areas around the Internet harboring similar discussion.
We are not going to do anything with your assets. We cannot be held responsible for what individual modders say they are going to do. That has nothing to do with us.
We are simply a game engine and shall remain so.
Guys, I've been saying that some members, not affiliated with the OpenMW team, plan to port over the assets to the new engine. I will do so, but only with permission. But Starwarsgal made such a bold statement (I believe it has been since deleted) and that really surprises me as I expect her to ask you guys for the permission before she can expect to port over the assets.
i dont think one person alone can convert all of our assets into morrowind. probably not even a single creature as we use warped skeletons and it may be impossible to try to get morrowind's skeletons to align with the ones skyrim has when you unwarp the skeletons.
"Erm, you do know that the guys over at Bethsoft forums will port over the new Skywind assets once OpenMW reaches version 1.0?"
Was what lead to all of the discussion. It was a broad statement, but everything has been cleared. It was cool of the OpenMW team to come in and have an official say and the matter, and Envy did narrow it down to certain uses- or just starwarsgirl- saying these things instead.
We were just worried that the hardwork of our 3d artists would be taken and released without permission (by anyone, really, be they an official group or an individual person), which I don't think is too farflung of a conclusion when taking Envy's original statement into account.
TL;DR
Misunderstanding understood. No one is at fault.

Several people have expressed interest in porting over the assets, hopefully with permission from you guys. Most likely the creatures will prove to be too difficult to port over and only the statics would be done. You guys are making awesome work and it would be great if more people would enjoy your hard work on this :)
This is what happens when forum posters become the "representation" for each project.
Firstly OpenMW is years away from any kind of official release, so the reality of using Skywind assets is many many years away.
But I for one am all for that. It seems like we have lost focus of what we are trying to achieve here! Let me quote our motto, that is on the front page
Sounds familiar?
What is more likely to happen short term is that somebody will convert the assets done to the TES3 format. If they uploaded to a modding site, it wouldn't take too long before one of us noticed and we would probably jump onto it, if we were so inclined.
So my theory what is far more likely in the future that its actually developers on this website that would help integrate the assets into the OpenMW engine. OpenMW has a long way to go before its capable of being a better engine than Skyrims, but that is the advantage of working with open source code that can be integrated with newer spec'd graphics cards and cpus.
The future of Morrowind is with these TWO projects imo. Its how we will be playing Morrowind when we are old.
For this reason, I think if 3D artists, animators, etc can keep their high poly models with the possibility of porting into future engines that can handle any detail you throw at them, then we plan for a very bright future of keeping Morrowind alive :)
So stop biting the hands that feed you!
i wouldnt mind helping openmw in the future. it would be cooler than trying to do skyblivion (i cant really stand oblivion, or even skyrim for the matter) oblivion was a cool play through maybe a few times, but its the same stuff over and over. which is why i like skywind alot more, so much more diversity, more quests, more story.
As much as I love Oblivion, its engine isn't that good and quite unstable. I'd love an OpenOB or Skyblivion as it seems to be the only way I can enjoy that game.
well this turned into a mess didnt it? Well I for one apologise for jumping the gun, my tempers were calmed by MrOpenMW's diplomatic and if i may say, gentlemanly response on his vid. its unfortunate that we found that one thread that heightened our fears.
Next time, I recommend a vallium pill for all!
I will also take what Envy says with a pinch of salt.
And I should explain things way more thoroughly next time :(
Ok, yeah after the response I accept that. But as it was said before, it's going to be years before OpenMW is finished and many new things will have been done by then - heck, a new TES will probably be out in around 2-3 years.
but it wont be morrowind, it never will be. I think OpenMW is trying to maintain the original feel. Thanks to non purists like myself, Skywind wont be.
It's a better game with how we're doing it. Other than the lore and interesting quests, I don't even really like playing Morrowind.
Hmmm, I have two minds about Skywind. On one hand, it's a big quest mod which allows my character to actually go somewhere which is not full of pine forests and snow. And my character would relive her mother's memories which is important to my RP. Plus the voice acting would give me a whole new experience :)
On the other hand, OpenMW will have Tamriel Rebuilt as well as a lore friendly Cyrodiil and Skyrim. Both are good for their own reasons.
The purist can keep their puny little Red Mountain while we bask in the full glory and terror of the Sixth House and Dagoth Ur! :D
If anyone wants to remake Tamriel Rebuilt as a mod for Skywind, no one is stopping them.
Oh yeah I'll just casually remake tamriel rebuilt, be right back guys, see ya in a couple of hours
I thought you were making Arena?
You mean decades ;)
