[WIP] Iron Armor

I am working on an hd version of morrowinds Iron Armor for Skywind.

I have most of the cuirass done and I am working to make it look as much like the original as possible.

Edit: Currently it is about 542 triangles.

I think it looks fantastic the only think I would suggest is making the center chest plate thing longer.

Yeah I was thinking about redoing it to make it look more like the original. I will probably use this version for a separate mod or something.

Although the original morrowind armor seems more like steel than iron.

Don't worry I didn't disappear I am still here. I am making another version of the armor I want it to look perfect. The difficulty is making it look like the original without it looking ridiculous in Skyrim. The screens posted here of the armor are around 500 tris I am going to put more detail into the model itself. I want the player to want to use this armor when they play not just buy it and throw it away for something better looking. I realize it would be a low level armor but I want it to look cool.

this is what we need

you dont have to redo it i think it looks perfect. this is what we need to be doing remaking them. they should look like the morrowind armours but its not necessary to get it exact. a lot of morrowind designs are lacking simply because the specs they were working work. i say keep doing your thing. morrowind to skyrim is too big a jump to just use the same old meshes

I personally think it looks great the way it is, though the middle thing could extend down farther. Keep up the great work! :)

I agree that it should look as close to the morrowind armor as possible. But can I make a suggestion? It might make things easier to use the base texture from skyrims iron armor for the color and texture. Now obviously it would have to be edited as needed for the shape and designe, but im talking just for a base. Skryims iron stuff really does look like iron.

Can I please make a suggestion - if you are going to remake the iron armor, how about going for something that looks realistic and believable, but at the same time slightly alien? For me the perfect armor style would be a mix of original Morrowind and the art style of Witcher 2 (for example http://itnkd4iam.files.wordpress.com/2011/10/witcher2_diagram_oathbreaker1.jpg )

I understand that this combination will be VERY hard to pull off, but if it can be done, can we please try to implement it? <puppy eyes>

Well I don't get whats unrealistic about it but okay.

Honestly it would be alot easier to not have to stick with the morrowind armor and just do a complete redesign but I kinda want it to look like the original.

That Witcher armor is cool but its not exactly an iron armor more like chainmail.

The only thing "unrealistic" about the armor is maybe the shape. I know the model in and of its self will bend, if you are trying to make a cuirass, maybe you should look at some historical references to give you a good idea of what to go for :) because at the moment, he'd be stiff as a board in that breastplate. Just a suggestion! Good luck!
