Drago's Doodles

Here I will post all the concept art I do for SkyWind, and perhaps some WIP's.

Bonewalker:

Alit:

Morrowind back in 2002 didn't have the technical possibilities Skyrim has now. Lots of the initial vision and design couldn't be implemented because of that. We have some original concept art to base on, but problems appear when we don't - so here's where I step in. I redesign some old, bad looking creatures from Morrowind to have a fresher look that was impossible to get with low poly models. I'm very much inspired by original Kirkbride's concept art and I'm trying to stay in it's spirit as much as possible.

Here is also my Deviant Art Page.

Feel free to write suggestions or critique, they are most appreciated. And expect more to come soon!

Dwemer Ancient Armour, as it would look on a Dwarven general.

I see a good bit of Oblivion poking out of this. And the face-helmet from Skyrim, albeit a hundred times better without that stupid thing splitting it in half. I love it :D

I came up with an idea (only

I came up with an idea (only discussed it with Eloth so far though) so that we can ask Yagrum about the Dwemer, and dwemer armour too. He will tell us, that the common dwarven armour (which I'm designing at the moment) is nothing but pieces of centurions tied together and worn like armor, and that it is nowhere as good in quality (and especially comfort) as real Dwemer armour. And real Dwemer Armour of ancient times is scarce, as Dwemeri rarely went into melee, but there are still some armouries in the old citadels, that most likely are still sealed with locks, traps and puzzles. In such a place (which should be in a much better state than the rest of the ruins, let's say it was enchanted to prevent metal and material degrading and sealed off from unwanted intruders for millennia), we will find an Ancient Dwemer armour, perhaps only about 2 or 3 on whole Vvardenfell. Whilst the armour made of centurions can be crafted, it gives a better protection than steel, but it's unparelled to the ancient armour, which can be easily compared to ebony in it's quality.

As to the armoury itself, I imagine it's gate to be looking like a vault gate from Fallout series :D The room itself should be rather small though.

Funny, while I was working on

Funny, while I was working on a few designs for the new dwemer shelves, I made one in which it has five middle long middle slots and ten small middle slots (five on each side) and went so far as to make up a system as to how the dwemer would have organized their things in this shelf, since I would imagine them to be very tidy and punctual. And in the middle shelf on the very bottom row I wrote that it would be specifically for "failed or successful products"

A concept for the Glass Armor:

It's pretty far from the original, but that's kind of what we wanted. I made it look as Dunmerish in style as possible.

Not if you imagine that volcanic glass is lighter than our normal glass. Besides, all other glass armours (Morrowind, Oblivion, and especially Skyrim) still looked heavier :P

An Imperial Dragon

An Imperial Dragon Armour.

This one is made of ebony, but it's made by the Imperials (duh). It will replace the Imperial Templar Armour, with it's unparalleled BLING.

The lone imperial veteran

The lone imperial veteran clad in gold trimmed ebon armor stood upon the veranda of the Legion Outpost in Ebonheart overlooking the Inner Sea. The waters today were unusually calm as he surveyed the scene before him. He sighed and rested on the low stone wall... And only a single, solitary thought ran rampant through his mind after years of service to the emperor...

lol #swag

Sorry, after seeing the word bling applied to that armor I couldn't help myself.

This is good stuff! I

This is good stuff! I absolutely dig the helmet design. Reminds me of maximilian armour ( http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/b/bf/HJRK_S_XI... ). ultra heavy, but definitely the "tank" of jousting tournaments.

I`m wondering about the pauldrons and gauntlets. It is a good idea to have it leaning during bonemold design. Here are two thoughts:

1) The helmet is the "definitive" part of your design (apart from the breastplate) . It gives a strong impression of "compactiveness". No big spaces and scales, more like a classic armour when fighting on horse during the late middle ages, made to prevent those pesky infrantymen from stabbing between the plates. I wonder if this can be reflected on the, now very open and scaly, pauldrons and gauntlets. Like a "tight" variant of what you have going on now. Since ebony is the armour of the elite we can play with the thought of making it mostly about protecting the noble aristocrat or high ranking officer beneath it, and less about foot soldier mobility. Here is something interesting: http://www.photosfan.com/images/armor-with-descriptions-helm... the gardbrace. Even though I dont think we can do something like this from a technical standpoint (rig and animations) the flow around the shoulder is interesting and the plating offers lot of space for inscriptions and oder ornaments. Maybe you find time to play a bit with that?

2) The silhouette is very close to other armours, so changing it up a bit could increase the diversity.

Loving the purple by the way. It seems like it is an often neglected color, but used to be a sign of nobility and priesthood. Also many people in western cultures perceive purple as very vibrant and "esotheric". Adding a dash of gold to it and it also becomes more "calm" for the eye (though, no need in your design. Would reduce the menacing look witch works well).

The armor is absolutely
The armor is absolutely beautiful in its design and shape, but I support the notion of adding a little gold. My biggest complaint with Skyrim's ebony armor was that it was all the same color, so all the work they put into making it look ornate was for naught because you have to look REALLY hard at the armor to see any of it.

NO GOLD ON TRADITIONAL

NO GOLD ON TRADITIONAL EBONY

As I said COUNTLESS times before, Dunmer surely value ebony more than any puny gold. Gold came to Morrowind with the Empire. Dunmer don't share our lust of gold. Ebony is black and it shines, and it has a violet tint to it. It's a beautiful material in itself and gold would only take away the attention from it (stupid imperials). It would ruin it's Redoran feel, believe me :( I think we can make a variation of it with golden trim exclusively for Vedam Dren though.

You make a great point, I
You make a great point, I just didn't want all the detail work to be lost in the sheer blackness. As I type this, though, another idea has popped into my head. What natural resource is just as valuable as ebony? Glass. A green and black could look really neat on that armor.

surely wasn`t my intention to

surely wasn`t my intention to upset anyone. I just thought in plain visual terms and a bright warm contrast color on the cloth would work nicely. Wasn`t even important.
