Hi Guys,
here's another task that is rather simple but where we need YOU to help us. We need to create the merchants for Skywind. As of now, only a handful of them are actually buying/selling things. And what the point in looting ancestral tombs if you have no one to sell your stuff and make good gold?

Only basic knowledge of the Creation Kit is necessary, don't be afraid :)
Here's the tutorial and tracker for the merchants.
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AubmRhWYZsEbdHB...
As Mehh mentioned elsewhere, the first one can be a bit confusing but after, it's just a 3~5 minutes to create a merchant!
A few other tutorials:

Thanks in advance!

Here are the 4 merchants of Maar Gan. Some quantities aren't listed on the UESP, just respawn times. So I just used a quantity of 1. Spells added as tomes but the "Priest" merchant setting doesn't seem to display books as an option and my character's Speech is too low to test non-defaults.
Upgraded my Speechcraft and found they will sell all items. Also noticed that they sell the clothes off their back. I guess since they aren't wearing them anyway...
Attached is a replacement. Salen Ravel had no cash in his store. Now fixed.
Thanks SBB64 ! This will be merged in the next update :)
Here are the 4 Ashland camps. The guy with 9,000 gold was already setup but didn't have anything in the chest.
I think the quantities on UESP are misleading me. The "-" means that item respawns but I thought the whole number "-#" was meaning the number of days to respawn. If that is correct, than here is the first group of merchants again. This time with fixed quantities that match UESP, ie -6 means quantity of 6 but respawns. Whereas a "6" means that is all that is in the inventory.
Clear as mud?
Shouldn't everyone be in a faction? At least a generic Morrowind one? I've seen some now that don't.
Another issue, I can't find candlesticks or lamps. Mainly the Bamboo one, but so far I only see silver in the Misc section of CK.
Here are all the little settlement shops; the 3 manors, Khuul, and other places with 3 or less merchants.
In Skyrim merchants containers are set per faction to per npc so each character that has a merchant container has to have its own merchant faction. Having it in factions allows other npc's to take over there shop if they die. Currently there is no morrowind barter dialogs for merchants so they will say the Skyrim barter phrases.
I understand setting up a faction for the vendor. What I am seeing is that some NPCs have no other factions besides what I link them to. Shouldn't everyone be in a generic Morrowind faction? That way they say dialogs for Morrowind and not for Skyrim?
Spells
I'm not seeing anyone discuss the plan for selling these. Since Skyrim sells spelltomes and they exist for almost all Morrowind spells (missing a Fagtiue drain touch and one of the spell absorbs), I have been adding the tomes to the vendors that sell spells. I hope that works for everyone here.

For the dialogues, what I do is that in case the filters are not enough, I add a getCurrentLocation "0MorrowindLocation" == 1 condition. It's not perfect but that's something.
Examples.
getIsID "0Tartempion" == 1
-> is enough to prevent this dialogue to be said in skyrim
getIsRace "DarkElfRace" == 1
-> not enough, so I add getCurrentLocation
Obviously this is WIP and some errors may happen. Don't hesitate to ping me about any you see.

Yes that was the plan when I created the spell tomes. Actually, I started from the list of spell merchants and created tomes for all the spells they sell... Do you miss some spells for the merchants?
Missing so far:
Absorb Fatigue Touch
Calm (anything - creature, range, etc), I see CalmMortal whatever that is.
SpellAbsorbtion (not this one but part of that family, can't remember the name now).
Attached are Ald'Ruhn and Balmora. If the spreadsheet said someone else had it, I skipped it.

What if we created a formlist of all the Morrowind voicetypes (when we have them set up -- which we should do relatively soon, maybe? I don't know), then did something like getIsVoicetype "MorrowindVoiceTypes" == 1 (obviously not the real condition)?
And with that, away I go!
About the missing spell effects, almost all of the effects are added from the Spells of the Third Era mod.

Gotcha. So we can make the formlist now, and as soon as the NPCs are set to use the right voicetypes, problem solved. :)Missing items:
Quality and Standard Potions of Light.
Biography of Barenziah (all three books).
Spelltome for Daerir Blessing.
Some random lists aren't complete, therefore vendors will continue to sell Glazed Cups from those lists.
Fort Buckmoth and Caldera vendors.
biography of barenziah is not missing:
Book1CheapBiographyofBarenziahvI
Book1CheapBiographyofBarenziahvII
Book1CheapBiographyofBarenziahvIII
0LightS - standard potion of light
0LightQ - quality potion of light
I see now that the 2 light potions are sorted below the lightning shield potions.
So for these books, use the Skyrim versions? Easy enough.
Also found that the "missing" spell absorption tome is actually "Weak Spell Absorption" and it is "1SpellTomeTranasasWeakSpelldrinker". Yeah, that was obvious...
No Skyrim objects please.
use skyrim objects, but add a duplicate, and change the formID to something else
Can do.
BTW, is the LeFemm mod added in? I'm not seeing the armor. I do see the other mod, Adamantium and have been adding in that armor.
Merchants of Dagon Fel and Ebonheart.
Merchants of the "G" locations - Ghostgate, Gnaar Mok, Gnisis with Fort Darius.
SBB64 thank you for your dedication. I have merged everything up to this message in the next master.
Just one remark: when you use 0VendorsMiscItem, most of the time it means "sells everything except 0VendorsMiscItem", so in those case you have to click the checkbox just below to say so. I fixed your plugins before merging.
also, you can now see the developper chat ;)
You do realize that isn't very logical or intuitive?
Here is a big one. From Hla Oad to Pelagiad. All that is left should be Vivec, Sadrith Mora, and the Tel ** locations.
Okay, so now that I have looked at the vendor lists, I see why you want to have the reverse list checkbox selected. That does make for an easier way to maintain the vendor list.
One issue that will need to be kicked around is vendor store hours. Back when I did the vampire clans, it seemed weird for them to have normal store hours. Wouldn't it be better to be "open" at night instead of during the day? Same with the assassins and other nightlife? Just a thought.
SBB64 wrote:
Yeah.. I found that in a tutorial, IIRC.
Regarding the schedule, I don't remember exactly in morrowind, but I think the vendors were open 24/7, no ? What would be great would be have opening hours and then when they're closed make them eat, go to bed etc...
Also, hours would make sense only for merchants with shops, I guess. Shady characters are always open for business usually (at least in real life ;) )
I have the Mudcrab Merchant open 24/7
I think some vendors could be open at all times but others should be on a schedule. Some also have the problem that they are in places which may have locked doors (Creeper being one). So they need to unlock the doors for business.
hey SBB64, I was probably not clear, since I'm currently fixing your plugins.
On the faction screen vendor buy/sell list, you have to select a 0VendorItems*
For example, for a book merchant, you select 0VendorItemsBookseller.
Now, for a merchants that will basically buy and sell everything, you can in this specific case select 0VendorItemsMisc and check "not sell/buy".
In clear, most of the time, you say "buy/sell A" but there might be times where it's easier "buy/sell everything EXCEPT B".
Hope this helps :)
I got it. But I didn't have that updated into this last file I uploaded. I worked on Sadrith areas today and included the checkbox when needed. So this next one, Merchants10.esp, will have the correction.
BTW, I have a merchant with a zero dollar amount. But there isn't a 0VendorGold option of zero. So I didn't include any at all. Problem is, I can't test it because he is located in the Council Hall and I can't get to him because the area crashes all the time.
Hey guys, this is the first thing that I have tried to help with. Some guys told me to try my hand at making merchants, so here I am. I tried following the directions and made my first merchant (I did this before I saw SBB64 had already done it). I was just wondering if I did this correctly and if you still need help creating merchants. And btw, I am still a little unsure about the uploading process and the organization of items within the CK (it seems that 0 indicates a Skywind file). I was unable to find the bread, so I used the Skyrim one. Any help/criticism is greatly appreciated!
A couple more notes as well...
If you do want me to help, where should I start?
And SSB64, Tarhiel is dead because he's the guy who flies through the air with the scrolls of Icarian flight
Umm, we have a spread sheet that tells you which npcs are done or not, just fill it out, and add any errors that you find(missing items, etc) to it.
As for the flying guy, don't bother.
Yeah, I knew about the spreadsheet. That's what I've been going off of. Still, I don't want to overlap any work that SSB64 is currently doing, so I'm just asking him if he has a certain group of merchants that he needs me to do.
I'm working on the Suran and Tel* locations today. The last thing that needs to be done is Vivec. I've been avoiding that giant place so far. So if you want one of the city blocks (Redoran, etc), just note it here.
For anything you can't find, select the Items section of CK and fill in the search box above for part of that word. It "should" find the item. However, not everything is obvious. For example, the dwarven items are 0DwarvenArtifact01, 02, etc. Therefore you have to look at them in CK to see which one is the tube vs a coin.
Some ingredients are listed as 0ingred**** instead of by their regular name. Also check 0food*** for Shein and other items.
Lights seem to be my headache. They aren't labeled yet in CK. So I had to match them against the Morrowind IDs to see which is a Bamboo candlestick, etc.
UESP actually claims you can save the life of Tarheil (the flying wizard) by casting a slowfall in time. He has a "store" but nothing to sell you and no money. So I don't see a good reason to build him, but he is on the list. That's why I asked.
Merchants10. This is Sadrith Mora and Wolverine Hall.
Ok, I'll try out Vivec Hlaalu.
@Sammybeau
Please avoid using skyrim records. If necessary, if you can't find something and there's a skyrim equivalent, then duplicate this (and rename the new record). Therefore we avoid too many dependancies toward Skyrim.esm. It will help when we do the migration of skywind to the next TES game :)
@SBB64
The spreadsheet is roughly a copy paste of uesp, I didn't check everyone of them. So if some vendors don't make sense, just note it in the comments and don't implement them.
So I've done a few of the merchants in Vivec Hlaalu, and here are some of the problems I encountered:
Shears and peach glass pot were missing for Alveno Andules.
Some form lists do not exist, such as Andules's pawnbroker class. For now I selected "Do not buy/sell" for misc, as she sells most things.
There are no fatigue potions. Is this because the Skyrim engine uses stamina instead? I chose the bargain restore stamina instead.
There is more than one type of spoiled cure disease potion (luck, strength, etc). Is there a certain one that you want me to use? I selected the luck one for now.
Finally, SSB64 touched on this earlier, but the UESP gives "-" signs for restocking items. Is there any way to discern between stocking and nonstocking in the CK?
0GlassPeach01 and 0GlassPeach02 are peach glass pots. I don't see any shears either. Since they aren't in Skyrim, there isn't anything you can copy from. So just note it on the spreadsheet for that vendor. It will need to be created and added to the vendor later.
For stocking, I combine the numbers and that is the new inventory. Everything respawns in a container, so you can't separate out some respawns and others not doing it. Also, for large quantities of generic items, I break it out into smaller chunks. So 5 common shirts may be 2 1commonshirt01 and 3 1commonshirt02 or something like that. I also do this with the large random lists. There are vendors with a random ingredient item of 24. I may break that into random 10, random 10, random 4, or whatever. This way the vendor will have 3 random items to sell instead of 1 bulk item.
I am also assuming that a Pawnbroker is like a Trader and they sell everything. So I select Misc and the checkbox to reverse it (now that I know the Misc list is not what I originally thought it was).
Restore Fatigue potions are 0RestoreStaminaB, Q, C, etc. But the Fortify Fatigue potions are 0FortifyFatigueB, Q, C, etc. Yes, I have issues with the decision making here, but I wasn't involved and don't know the history. So just learn it and deal with it the best you can. There is always a method to everyone's madness.
Oh, and for the spoiled potions, just randomly pick one of that category. I do the same for selecting clothes as well. Not every vendor is selling 1CommonPants01, so mix it up with 02, 01A, etc. Same for 0Bottle##, though do remember that 03 is a Jug, not a bottle.
Here are all of the Tel* locations (Tel Vos, Tel Aruhn, etc) and Suran.
Can we even do a Detect Key potion or spell? One vendor has the potion but I don't remember Skyrim having a spell like that to rename.
I have some extra time this summer and would like to help out a bit if I can. I have Morrowind GOTY for both xbox and PC along with Skyrim and a VERY basic knowladge of C++ (not sure if that helps). I have a few questions:
1) I have the construction set not creation kit. Is it worth the effort to find and install CK over CS?
2) Could somebody link a good tutorial for beginners?
3) It seems like you are almost done with merchants, are there any other repetitive processes that a beginner could help out with?
Thanks for any advice and I look forward to helping out.
Being new to some of this, I am also curious as to what else is basically easy for us newbs. I have tried to figure out dialogs but that has got to be the most unfriendly interface of the whole CK.
As for merchants, I think we will have this complete by the 4th if possible.
