I unzipped the skywin installer, tried to run it as Admin and i keep getting: Error Occured
See the logfile 'C:\Users\Julian\Downloads\Skywindinstaller.exe.log' for details
(Julian is the PC name)

Please help

Download "UnRAR for Windows" at http://www.rarlab.com/ and put it in C:\Users\Janneke\Downloads\config\contrib\ then rename it to unrar.exe
I dont get it, installing UNRAR doesnt do anything, it doesnt show up a program after the installation wizard
also, i cant find config/contrib in my download folder
Did you try extracting it to a completely seperate folder? I had that problem but I fixes it by putting it in a seperate folder :)
thanks for trying to help, but im afraid my knowledge is too little to solve this problem
ive made 2 new folders: config and contrib within config, put the UNRAR in there and all it did was show some stuff on CMD, and i still cannot open the installer, same error
Did you rename it to unrar.exe too?
Do a clean installation of Windows (preferably 7) and install every single update possible including frame.net etc. Only install necessary stuff and do not use anti virus.
Sheesh a clean install? That's the worst possible overkill when the program just isn't finding the unrar.exe.
Im already redone this part, i hope next version will do it right.
Unfortunately, i cant say release date: it still needs a lot of work=(
Also nebbie, after making the config>contrib then putting the UnRAR in those folders, after i done that, then rename it to UNRAR? or just the program itself
on second thought, nevermind, i cant get this program to run
thanks for the help
My link in that post was broken (a space after the link got put into the link by the forum it seems, also I shouldn't've linked to just the home page); correct link here (again, download "UnRAR for Windows"): http://www.rarlab.com/rar_add.htm.
Did you get unrar32w.exe? It's the program needing to be in config\contrib and renamed to unrar.exe. The reason the Skywind installer gives the error message is because it cannot find the required unraring program, which it needs to run. If it is having other issues, then post the log again, since your log only indicated that unrar.exe was not found.
Anyway, i made a folder within Downloads, named it config, then made another folder IN config named contrib and put UNRAR IN THERE, ran the program/installation and put it there. still getting the erorr, showing log as requested
(note, i ran it a couple of times again)

a) The skywind installer is now looking in C:\Users\Jannneke\Documents\config\config\contrib As best I can tell, it's looking here because you put the Skywind Installer in C:\Users\Janneke\Downloads\Config, and it expects that, in the directory it is in, there is a path \config\contrib\unrar.exe, so how about you put it in the System32 location (C:\Windows\system32\config\contrib\unrar.exe) instead, as it's been consistently checking there. You will need administrator privelidges to do this, so if you don't have them, it will need to be in the Documents path specified.
b) The Skywind installer is looking under Janneke's user directory, but you indicated that Julian was your user directory. Putting the unrar.exe in the System32, if you're able to do so, will take care of this.
If you cannot put unrar.exe in the System32 location, since it looks like the path is relative, keep the Skywind installer in the same location as the config folder that contains the contrib folder that contains unrar.exe. Really, the installer should come with the subfolders and program it is expecting rather than depending on the user to put them in or put something in System32.
c) You did rename it to "unrar.exe" (just "unrar" if the .exe was not displayed), right?
Hi, I'm having the exact same problem. I've put the unrar.exe in the same directory path as Skyrim AND tried putting it in the System32 location, neither seems to work. I'm not super knowledgeable on this stuff but would having Steam on a different drive cause this issue?
