[RELz] Compiled Skywind Textures [Updated Jan. 19, 2013]

This is probably a stupid question, but I don't understand one thing. Since we're not supposed to tick morrowind_sk.esm (just skywind.esm), how are these files going to work if it isn't loaded? 

Thanks for doing this, I pushed for this to be done ages ago but it looked like too much work. Well done for finding an easier way than manualy checking each texture!

Hey Iniquity, could you pretty please just upload an archive with the necessary Oblivion + SI textures.  I don't think people really want to redownload all of the overhaul just for those few textures.  I already separated these myself in a .bsa using your list, but I still seem to be missing several textures and this would be a big help.

Also, yes use Leobloom's suggestion, although I would actually suggest the moderate settings (no ill effects yet).  If anything it will reduce the size of the download, because we have a lot of textures.  (My .bsa is still 1.88 gb after running it!  More than the HD DLC)

To answer Suade's question:  Aren't they both supposed to be ticked?  Skywind.esm has Morrowind_sk.esm as it's master, and the game would crash on attempt to load a save game without them both.

Shadow,what you state does make sense,but in fact as Skywind.esm loads loads both morrowind_sk.esm and skyrim.esm all of the data required to make a save is there and it works for me by just ticking only skywind.esm and any other needed esp.

I have made about 10 saves that way so far and they always just load back in without any problems.

When loading an older saved game it might give the "some items are missing" message,that save then might or might not load depending on what is missing.

But saves that contain extra or at least the same data that it was saved with should just load.

Skywind works fine for me also, you just have to have Skywind load after Morrowind_sk. The only problem with Skywind is a few doors are missing, I think the older version of Sorrow's door file got merged. Because I pmed him last week about Vivec, and he was 100% sure it was included, he said he already tested it.

I was asking if you could upload an archive with ONLY the necessary Oblivion and Shivering isles textures as well.  I didn't really want to redownload the entire archive that you posted, so I tried separating out the correct Oblivion textures using the list that you posted by myself, but there are still a few missing textures with that approach.

Oh well, I guess I'm downloading all of the Skywind textures again.

Well, I guess that is good.  From the size of the download, it looks like my Skywind - Textures.bsa is going to get a bit smaller at least.

Wow! Good job Iniquity.  My Skywind - textures.bsa dropped from 1.89 gb down to 1.06 gb.  And my old one only contained the visual overhaul textures and a few necessary Oblivion ones.  Now I just need to go and test it out.

Edit:  Hmm.  I think you need to run whatever program it was you used to find the necessary textures on the new visual overhaul meshes or something.  Using all of your texture downloads I am still missing textures for all of the new trees, all of the doors, whickwheat, Kreshweed, and several other plants.  You definitely have a start, but we are still missing a bunch of textures.

Edit2: It seems that all missing textures are located in the following directories:

Textures\Morro\D                  Textures\Morro\F             Textures\Morro\O

Textures\Plants                  Textures\Landscape\Trees

Hope these help in your endeavor to make Skywind not waste hard drive space.  :)

I long for the day when a BSA will be released. I try to convert loose meshes and textures in mods (and other files of course) into BSA format. Doesn't always work, most of the time it does. Are there plans for a BSA? Or attempts to place it all in BSA format? If not I could try.. And see how it all works out.

Well, it is actually quite easy to make .bsa files, and it only requires minimal .ini tweaking if you are using multiple ones for the same mod.  I was actually planning on uploading my mesh and texture .bsa files, but there is so much constant updating at the moment that they would soon be obsolete (and we'd have a giant update .bsa).  I think I'll at least wait for the NPCs to be merged, and alexander's armor meshes to be uploaded, and then I'll upload them.  In case you guys want to know, a compressed mesh.bsa is only 145 mb.

On another note:  There are still a few more interior textures missing that I haven't located yet (things like bread, and books)

I just noticed something when looking at the texture list.  Some of those look like they are Skyrim textures and are already included in the base game, so it reallly could be even shorter than that.  :)

Also, I have these in my textures directory:

architecture\chorrol\glasswindow01.dds
architecture\chorrol\glasswindow01_n.dds

So that is two fewer textures you have to worry about finding.

Do you guys think we could get permission from one of the authors of an Oblivion texture pack to use some of their textures?  Because technically we should have to require Oblivion and SI just because we are using some of the textures from them, and just pasting over Bethesda's textures would be so much easier than creating new ones to replace them from scratch

Haha, I guess I won't have to import the Morrowind sounds into the CK afterall.

Anyone know of a good Oblivion texture pack?  I've heard of Quarl's texture pack, but I never used it, or any other one for that matter.  We also need a good way to get in contact with that mod author to ask for permission.  Then of course we still have the problem with the small number of Oblivion meshes we are still using.

Can`t download from the link in the first post [google docs will not give a filename and Win7 download window needs one],google docs just does not work for me.

It works now.:),it was a setting in my internet options about not saving encripted files to disk,I unchecked it and it worked,funny because with the Win7 non Pro version it ignored that setting.

Hey everyone.  I finally got Qarl's texture mod downloaded, and I'm uploading an archive with only the textures that we are using for Skywind. I'm doing this so it can be tested out to make sure everything still looks fine.  If everything checks out I'd like to propose that we obtain permission to make those needed textures a required download for Skywind.  That way we would be nearly at the point of removing all dependency on Oblivion.  Only a few meshes would remain that would need to be replaced.

Okay, Here is the link for testing.  Be sure to let me know what you think about it.

Also, I should be able to do the same using Bomret's Shivering Isles textures sometime tomorrow or the day after.  That way we won't have to use textures from Oblivion or any of it's expansions.

An Oblivion texture pack for a Morrowind mod in Skyrim?? :O I understand it is to remove the Oblivion dependency (how is there one?), but excuse me if I'm wrong, don't the Skyrim texture packs look better?

Skywind is a direct port of the Morroblivion conversion, which used some Oblivion textures as replacements. As the project progresses, more and more resources will be used for whatever will give it the best look. Its about getting the best match ups for both quality and in keeping with the original "look" of the game. So yes there probably will be some great Skyrim replacements, but we will be looking at modders re-textured packs for the sake of future proofing for porting the next TES game. The general license rule is that you can't use models/textures in the various versions of the game, unless you have that game.

Although by that reasoning shouldn't we keep the morrowind textures and only make them look better? Since Oblivion has nothing to do with this game, only Morroblivion (which used Oblivion texture mods at the time I believe). I feel like a mix of our textures, and hd textures from oblivion and skyrim would be ideal.

Iv never dealt with this problem before but i cant download the files from Google. It say no preview available, I click download and it says Sorry, we are unable to scan this file for viruses. Than there a link below that i click it and it say on the tab Google docs i don't know what the problem is.

When the "can`t scan for viruses" page is up there should be a "download anyway" link,if you click on that it should bring up the download bar at the bottom of your desktop [in Win7] or the download window in WinXP.You should then be able to pick just save or saveAs.

If that fails go to files menu on the google page and the then click on download.

It is working ok for me.

Ok so I went to google docs, pressed download anyway, and literally nothing happened.

Where do i put the textures

I'm sorry, but if you don't know that answer, go and get a little more familiar with mods and installing mods, and then come back and try to install Skywind after that.
