my problems and minor, non-serious run-ins

Submitted by DiabloInvictus on

(To begin this thread, I downloaded Morroblivion. *Notes: I have played Morrowind, Oblivion, and Skyrim vanilla games on Xbox 360 with tons of hours like a lot of people who love this series as much as i do. I have played Morrowind and Oblivion on PC via "ES: Anthology" set, but i have never downloaded mods before, so i have no prior experience downlaoding mods. Morroblivion is my first official mod ive downloaded. I have the prerequisites to play Morroblivion and as far as im concerned they are all up-to-date as of today 1/6/2015. I have the Oblivion Mod Manager instead of the Wrye Bash. I have the Tribunal, Bloodmoon, Shivering Isles, KOT9 expansions downloaded.*)

Also grab a bag of chips or popcorn (or whatever choice snacks) when reading because this may be long....

So to actually begin this thread, i want to point this first issue/inconvenience: When I downloaded Morroblivion, i laucnhed the game with the vanilla oblivion game launcher. When i started a new game, i was back in the prison cells of cyodiil. So out of curiosity, i created a character. After the initial autosave, a message/error popped up on my screen and it said "OBSE is not detected" and i cleared the message and then i just instantly died..... I went back to my files and just made sure i had everything for sure and moved some files around into my oblivion FOLDER folder and i launched the game, but then an error appeard with a black screen, "Cannot detect oblivion.exe" or somethnig similar to that. So i launched the game with the "obse.loader" file and it started the game fine. I started a new game. after the intro video, i started in Seyda Neen on the boat instead. *Finished my character and began to play (take note here).* I exited the game and re-lauched it and the same error came up so i lauched the game via the Oblivion Mod Manager and it started, exited the game, lauched with OMM, same error. I launched the game via vanilla Oblivion laucnher, now it's fine as of 1/6/2015 (i started on the boat, and i can play fine. After creating the character, a (seemingly harmless) message appeared and it said "MenuQue is not installed" (i can still play without any peristent problems but it does that every new game).

Now to begin with minor problems and non-serious issues (excluding the "MenuQue is not installed" message). Some of these, if not a majority of these, maybe my fault, as i may have place some files in the wrong folders:

1. the npcs dont talk when you interact with them. when you engage in direct conversation, they dont talk, but the dialogue still appears (some of the dialogue goes by fast, i have the universal silent voice installed, maybe in the wrong place...). NPCs talk when you are moving around them and after using NPC services (repairs, bartering, traveling, etc.).

2. When i attempt to travel places, like "from Khuul to Solstheim", the NPC takes my gold coins but doesnt take me anywheres. (*I havent tried traveling via Mages Guild*) (*Fast traveling works completely fine*)

3. When i started off after Seyda Neen, i set off a walking (more like sprinting) journey to Tel Fyr (for an obvious reason! LOL). After grabbing the Daedric Sanctuary Amulet, it doesnt let me teleport to that shrine (the amulet itself is alright, it looks exactly like it should be from vanilla morrowind. Oh, the that "other thing" (you know what it is - *cough*  *cough*) that is in that chest is also fine and looks as it should.

4. Now this might be a personal issue, but the map textures is "glitchy" (not in a horrific sense). There are "flat, rounded, squared or whatever shape solid....glitchyness...things" on the map. I can still see the actual ground (the grass, trees, flora, rocks, etc.) if i move around at some angles. I am aware i was opted to download some of the mods for better textures and stuff. *Armor textures, weapon textures, misc. textures, ground textures, building textures, weather/environment textures, creature textures, NPC textures, flora textures, tree textures, item textures, (continued, will come back to edit some other things here) are all fine...so far. The world and Local maps are fine also, the quest journal and inventory menus are fine too.

5. Before i actually set off my on-foot journey to Tel Fyr, i stopped by Ebonheart in the attempt to go to Mournhold (SUCH A LUSTROUS PLACE in vanilla morrowind!) and i knew exactly who and where to go to (Apelles Matius was there on the battlements in his adamantium armor, without his helmet if that was intentional). So i went somewheres secluded where i could find a bed to sleep on in a nearby mine to wait for that lucky person to be slain by my hands and report it to a guard....but that lucky winner didnt show up at all....(*insert sad face here*).

(6.) i havent looked around enough on the boat at the very beginning, but i didnt find the npc that could take you to cyrodiil (maybe that is my own issue, at the moment).

7. like i mentioned about the "non-horrific glitchynes" of the map, the water seems non-existent when you are swimming, sometimes the only thing that indicated that you are underwater is when your head is "watery blue" (again maybe my issue that i was opted to download those texture mods)

8. (This will be continued once i actually start doing some quests and side quests, such as the fighter's guild and mage's guild...)

(i will provide some photos if can replicate what i saw and things i continue to see)

So to actually begin this thread, i want to point this first issue/inconvenience: When I downloaded Morroblivion, i laucnhed the game with the vanilla oblivion game launcher.

You should always run the game with obse_loader.exe (which is written in its readme file, BTW), otherwise OBSE will not function.

"MenuQue is not installed" message is appering because you (surprise) haven't installed MenuQue or installed it incorrectly. You can play without it, but you won't be able to recharge Cast When Used enchanted items, so I recommend getting it.

1. the npcs dont talk when you interact with them. when you engage in direct conversation, they dont talk, but the dialogue still appears (some of the dialogue goes by fast, i have the universal silent voice installed, maybe in the wrong place...). NPCs talk when you are moving around them and after using NPC services (repairs, bartering, traveling, etc.).

If you're expecting voice acting, there is none (you say you've played Morrowind, so should've known that, no?).
Universal Silent Voice will make silent dialogue stay on screen for enough time to read it, instead of disappearing in split second.

2. When i attempt to travel places, like "from Khuul to Solstheim", the NPC takes my gold coins but doesnt take me anywheres. (*I havent tried traveling via Mages Guild*) (*Fast traveling works completely fine*)

This sound like OBSE isn't working after all. Not sure how did you managed to circumvent the scripted check.

Same as above.

Post a screenshot. And BTW, you don't need to download optional mods for better textures with the latest Morroblivion version, it's all included.

This was changed from Morrowind intentionally. DB assassins won't show up until you finish Morrowind MQ or one of the guilds quest lines.

(6.) i havent looked around enough on the boat at the very beginning, but i didnt find the npc that could take you to cyrodiil (maybe that is my own issue, at the moment).

You need Chargen and Transport mod for that.

7. like i mentioned about the "non-horrific glitchynes" of the map, the water seems non-existent when you are swimming, sometimes the only thing that indicated that you are underwater is when your head is "watery blue" (again maybe my issue that i was opted to download those texture mods)

Post a screenshot. This is likely unrelated to Morroblivion.

All in all: install and use OBSE. Start a new game and don't continue until there are no error messages. Oh, and post your load order.

Will do! Thanks for the corrections, too. And I was expecting voice acting lol. Having played Oblivion a lot (as much as Morrowind, if not more) and now playing Morroblivion i was so absorbed in the voice diaologue where I could not help but feel a little crazed about that   :P

(Look forward to the pics here soon, and thanks for making the Tribunal Quest in SEQUENCE TO the mainline, at least i can feel to achieve something first other than going straight into Tribunal quest!)

So I did install the MenuQue and that message doesnt pop at all, this is my Oblivion Mod Manger load order (refer to given picture titled "OMM load order", the glitchyness apparently was definately my issue because i amped up the resolution a little and i am unable to replicate it, nor the water...

and after tweaking around the game settings and such, i understand that now it my issue. when i turn the "view distance" all the way up, it causes those glitchy solid things that covers the ground. and the traveling works, now im going to check up on the daedric sanct amulet

I checked up on the Daedric Sanct Amulet and everything out alright for the most part, except there were a few crashes after returned to Tel Fyr with the Tel Fyr amulet. The daedric crescent is fine. I prevented the crashing by opening the pause menu as soon as you get telelported back in tel fyr, otherwise, the crescent and amulet checks fine to me
