Guide to Getting Models into Skyrim

I have found the ability to bring my models into Skyrim to be quite useful. Not only does it provide the personal satisfaction of seeing the end result of your work, but it also allows the identification of certain issues that might not have been apparent through the initial creation of the model. So, I have written up a tutorial on the subject, with information on exporting NIF files, NifSkope, and the Creation Kit. Any suggestions about improving the guide are appreciated, especially from those experienced in this area. Note that this guide is primarily concerned with statics.

I plan to update this guide as needed, or when I learn something new about the process.

Thanks for this! Super helpful.

Also For maya users, I think you need to export your models as .fbx 2009 files if you want to retain your vertex data, however I'm not 100% on this.

I just updated the document with some of the new things I've learned about NIF exporting over the past year. More will be coming when I get the time.

Really great, this should be somewhere more obvious & linked to from Trello

I'm not keen on statics, but figment plugin should include eham's code and is more updated, i suggest you update the 3ds max segment, even if it's clearly not the main focus of the guide. Thank you very much!

What's the figment plugin? The thing you're working on? Post a link here and I'll update the guide.
