Werewolf Problems

Submitted by scotty35503 on

I must say, I'm really impressed with the new werewolf models. They look pretty damn good, considering this is something that Oblivion wasn't built for.

However, I experience crashes as a wolf, a lot. Mainly in combat, sometimes when I click attack, the game crashes. It seems to always crash when I rest for the night so I can transform back in the morning. The clock counts down until the last hour, then the game crashes. It also sometimes just crashes randomly when in wolf mode, for no apparent reason.

Are there any ways to fix this or might this be some kind of known incompatibility?

The werewolf part may be conflict with some mod. But you are the first to report such trouble. And werewolf mode was playtested a lot. Which is your load order? Do you have combat mods?

I thought I had foudn the problem when I remembered the 'Enhanced First-Person Camera Mod' that I had installed. It's a mod that allows you to see your body when you look down. When I remember that I had it installed (I've played with it for so long that I forgot what it was like without it) I removed it and I was able to transform and enter combat as a wolf without any crashed. However, now, whenever I rest to transform back to normal, it still crashes.

I attached an image of my load order. I do have a lot of mods, but I've always tested each one and haven't really had any problems with any of them. I also haven't added anything new in a while. Some of the plugins listed here are ones that I haven't activated yet and others are personal projects that I've been working on in the CS. I know, I know, it all looks kind of messy. I apologize. I've aready tried disabling one or two that I thought might be the cause of the problem (like P1DRobesOver), but to no avail.

Thanks for taking the time to try to help.

An advice: Run Boss there are some things wrong in your load order. For example UOP should go right after the masters unless somme other mod REQUIRE to be loaded before the UOP(for example translations).

attach the generated file by BOSS.

I don't know some of the mod that you have.

Are you transforming normally or with the Ring of Hircine?

I will look ASAP

The only way to know for sure if it's a mod conflict is to disable a bunch of mods at once. And if the crashing stops enable them again one by one, checking each time if the game crashes or not.

When I tested the werewolf questlines I used this first person mod without any crashes. However waiting in werewolf form was disabled at that time, was it enabled again in the latest version? Perhaps you should wait until an hour before the transformation and then see if still crashes.

It was enabled in the Ring of Hiricine transformation. And after feeding on the normal transformation IIRC.

Maybe was a mistake

I haven't taken the step of disabling each mod yet...I guess I should, I just keep procrastinating.

However, now it seems like I can't rest at all. Whenever I load a save made while in wolf form, the Rest key works for a brief few seconds and then is disabled. However, I still seem to get random crashes that don't seem tied to any one action. I've looked at my load order and for the life of me, I can't imagine what would be conflicting, but I guess I won't know until I go through each one. It'll just take some time.

I retested the werewolf script and discovered a bug or two but are minor.

I could not reproduce the CTD for normal transformation. Nor the missing mesh issues.

Use RefScope  to get information on the missing mesh object

I discovered however that the Hircine's ring script became defective in certain situations after the merging and was sometimes causing a game freeze.(This was reported in another thread but I cannot find it). I'm reworking it to be more stable.
