I've played Vanilla Morrowind with all the Tribunal and Bloodmoon. There was not much NPCs and the Towns seemed quite small. Nonetheless, Morrowind is my first and favorite. However, the more mods I add to Morrowind to make the atmosphere more lively rather than barren, the more likely the client was to crash or lag. With Skywind, will there be added NPCs and expansions to the towns? Because I feel like Skywind will benefit from it.
I feel it in all TES games
I feel it in all TES games except Daggerfall )
It will be really great to expand cities and add more citizens, and perfect if they will be unique.

Your picture is lelek1980's fan art. I'm fan of his pictures too, but if you want do something like this you need Vvardenfell 4x or 8x bigger then vanilla map.
I agree with OP, the size of
I agree with OP, the size of the towns in Morrowind (and actually Oblivion and Skyrim as well) was one thing that took some of the immersion away from the world...Vvardenfell is a big wonderful world that takes a lot of time to explore, and then you have cities like Balmora, Ald'Ruhn and Maar Gan which feel like villages with population of 50-100 people. It's true that they cannot be realistically big due to the size of the map, but some expansion would look very good - like an additional street of two with houses, shops, etc. Take Balmora for example - it has quite the potential for expanding to the east and west.
yea. and Seyda Neen. Even
yea. and Seyda Neen. Even though Seyda Neen was (lore-wise) a small village, i thought it was TOO small. i feel a lil bit of expansion on the smaller settlements would benefit as well.
Does anyone know how many RAM
Does anyone know how many RAM should be needed if the vanilla map will be 4x or 8x bigger?
I'm not an expert, but this
I'm not an expert, but this requires a storage, not RAM. RAM is needed to view distance.
But Skyrim engine had problem, if I'm not mistaken: restrictions on the territory on map. Even Beoynd Skyrim do provinces like S.T.A.L.K.E.R. "locations''
2x project was for Oblivion, but it is dead and no more done besides base convertation [External image]
Just for info
Yes, but that didn't stop Beyond Skyrim:
"Unfortunately, due to a bug in the Creation engine, landmasses larger than 64x64 cells will throw up bugs and glitches, and we have had to cut up our heightmap to fit. As such, you will be able to travel between several distinct worldspaces with loading screens..."
Seyda Neen and Balmora have
Seyda Neen and Balmora have both had some expansion.
Regarding worldspace size, the limitation is an engine hardcode issue but is much larger than Skywind ever needed to worry about. If you ever go wander outside of the borders of Skyrim you'll get a sense of where it cuts off. Only an issue for a project like Beyond Skyrim.
RAM wise on your system skyrim.exe is limited to 4GB I believe (plus whatever your system eats up in background processes). Video Card wise, the better the card, the better the graphics you can get. Skywind is more intensive then Skyrim in general but can be scaled down like Skyrim.
By any chance, will the
By any chance, will the Mainland also be included in Skywind? "Morrowind" was pretty much just "Vvardenfell" (excluding Tribunal expansion).
If someone do remake of
If someone do remake of Tamriel Rebuilt to Skywind, lol. But original TR in developing and will be in a few years, I think.
I don't mind the towns and
I don't mind the towns and villages being small myself. A bit of imagination can do wonders for immersion.
If you wanna spruce things up a little anyway, you don't necessarily have to expand the map. This mod series proves that. The nice thing about the 'Epic' series is that it really gives the towns a boost in atmosphere, without actually adding any useable buildings. It's all decoration.
And small things like adding a basket that has spilt its kwama eggs in Balmora are a nice touch as well.

What do you think?
I think that expanding the map would be a small challenge compared to the work you'd have to put into making a city of that size believable. At least half of all those houses would have to be made accessible if you don't want the game to turn into a 'This door's locked'-fest. Then you'd have to make different interiors for those houses, add NPCs to them with fitting names and backgrounds, give those NPCs day/night routines, etc., etc.
And this is just Balmora we're talking about. It's simply undoable without dedicating a full-time team to town expansion. (At least, that's what I think.)
Witchhunter
You're right. By the way, in addition to the city see the valley around Balmora on lelek's picture. In the game, the small city occupies the entire territory. In picture - big city It occupies only one part. We can see the "stone forest" etc.
So this is made in Real (or close to real) scale. Mininmum 16x of tesIII scale. This is another type of the game, if you do map like in Just Cause 3. I like big maps like this, but for modding on skyrim engine and with fan-base team this is not real.

There are at least some
There are at least some settlements expanded. I hope there will be features inherited and developed from Skyrim: workplaces (like mines, quarries, forges), families (maybe with kids if there'd be work on races), farms and woodmills (shroommills? :) ). All this would require more population.
