Dwemer guards attacking

Submitted by john44 on

I have finished the house telvanni quests up to becoming the archmagister. I noticed the following problems, the dwemer centurians show up in the game before they should. I mean before recovering that book secrets of the dwemer amunculi  and they always attack me on sight. I think some of the pennets are flapping to much again, I thought somebody fixed that a long time ago. When I went to kill the the other two stronghold builders, there were no buidings at their stronghold sites. When I killed Gotheran and his two daedric guards the other npc's in the tower attacked me. I think they don't in morrowind. Other than these minor issues everthing worked out great. This project is really coming along lately I can still remember the pre 0.98b days. Thanks for all the hard work.

The Centurions that appear before the House Telvanni Stronghold Quest is finished are NOT your guards! The ones you are seeing around are part of random leveled lists. Whether they should be there or not is way beyond my knowledge of Morrowind, but I went through the leveled lists and mirrored Morrowind line-by-line, so I think they ARE supposed to be there as creatures. But who knows, maybe I missed something. They attack you on site because they are creatures and are supposed to attack you. I talk about the other strongholds in my Quest Notes. What you see is what you get, sorry. The NPC's attacking you in Gothren's tower is because I told them to. Maybe I shouldn't have, but I just couldn't stand them commenting on how strong and attractive I was after I had just killed the lord of the tower. Pennants flapping is because activators that have required scripts are placed below ground. Oblivion deals with that sort of thing differently than Morrowind did. I moved the one in Ald-Ruhn. If there are others, I don't know where they are, so you would need to tell me exactly where to look. That, unfortunately, will not help you now, however. Once an activator is stampped into your savegame, it will be there forever; they will not reset when the cell does. I discovered this first hand with the one in Ald-Ruhn.
